Dear Angus, First and foremost, we thank you so much for orchestrating our holiday. It was both splendid and flawless. Five stars and "very good" isn't sufficient--can I have a six-star category? Working with you was like having a good friend who takes pleasure in you having a great time and also has detailed knowledge and contacts in the places you want to visit. Corresponding via email and Skype, you skillfully asked all the right questions to ascertain our desires, quirks, and capabilities, carefully listened to us, and patiently answered all our questions. This might sound odd, but corresponding with you was thoroughly enjoyable in itself—like having a delightful pen pal. You almost magically mapped out and meticulously arranged a dream trip. Almost unfathomably, nothing went wrong and everything was as you described it would be. No surprises, no foul-ups, nothing unaccounted for, right down to incidental things that you shouldn't even have been responsible for (like arranging for an early-morning ride to the airport from our B&B in Windhoek). We'd enthusiastically recommend you to plan a trip for any one of our friends and would jump at the chance to work with you again to plan a holiday. Lonny Lippsett, Massachusetts, USA

From start to finish, our entire experience with Angus was stellar. We planned the trip with him online for months, refining plans as our needs and interests evolved; Angus not only was receptive to the changes, but offered numerous suggestions based on his knowledge of the area and his understanding of our inclinations and our financial limitations. He really listened to us. Even after all this, we anticipated some glitches, given that we were traveling in Third World countries on an itinerary developed via Internet, and thus surely subject to some miscommunication. But, no: Everyone scheduled to meet us was there, on time; every venue awaited our arrival; every detail was as promised. The guide assigned to the Namibia portion of our journey was exceedingly knowledgeable, helpful and affable (we still keep in touch with him). We did some driving in Namibia, and Angus gave us sensible advice about how much territory we could anticipate covering, and how best to navigate in the varied conditions. Every place we stayed, from a patch of sand in the Namib Desert to a B&B in Swakopmund to the Oddballs camp near Maun, Botswana, in the Okavango Delta was precisely as advertised and just what we wanted. This trip remains a peak life experience.

A school trip to Drakensberg and community project in Zululand. The service was professional, friendly and well organised. Angus is expertly placed to organise tours of Africa, and his passion for the countries he operates in is clear. I hope to be able to use Walks In Africa again in the future.

Angus of Walks in Africa was great, I came across him while I was looking to fill my trip to South Africa. Initially I enquired about walking safari options, but very quickly Walks in Africa hadn't just made an excellent suggestion, but also provided an a variety of very attractive additions that complimented my existing arrangements. This included mountain walking/camping with a professional guide in the Drakensburg to touring the Zulu battlefields. My accomodation varied between tented sleep outs to top end luxury where nothing was too much trouble. You can choose a range of accomodation and experiences that fit all budgets. My car hire was also arranged, I was supplied detailed directions of each leg of the journey and even suggested lunch stops. I recieved information of what to expect at each location and clothing to wear. I can't recommend Walks in Africa highly enough, it is alot more than just walks. Nothing is too much trouble and I will be using the company again when I visit that part of the world in the future.

Walks in Africa provided such a good service in making the organising and booking of a trail smooth and stress free. Angus was friendly and efficient and always quick to answer any queries. He caters for your specific needs rather than just making it a generic booking. The trail itself was an unforgettable experience, for all the right reasons. A lovely few days in the true African wilderness.

We had a marvellous holiday organised by Angus at 'Walks in Africa'. He couldn't have been more helpful and put together a very interesting itinerary, taking in hiking, culture and fairly complicated travelling arrangements. His recommendation of 'The Fugitives Drift Lodge' was fabulous and the guide he arranged for our hike was excellent. I thoroughly recommend this small, personal company - what a treat to find someone to talk it all through with in an on-line world!

Angus Maclaren at Walks in Africa has put together a holiday itinerary for us every year since 2010, in fact, he organised 2 holidays for us in 2013. This review is of our most recent trip to Southern Africa and I can only say that it just gets better and better each time! We toured Botswana and Namibia in September 2014 and this was another fantastic holiday. Angus does much of his research in person by visiting the locations that he subsequently advises upon. He uses only the best local agents to match the superb attention to detail in his own planning and, as with all the others, this holiday went exactly according to plan. We were very well treated everywhere. Two of the guides were exceptional (the senior guide at Chitabe and the guide / venue manager at “Footsteps”) but all of them were really good. I can barely muster a negative out of the whole trip but on this occasion we were so lucky with wildlife sightings that our sundowners were “briefer” than we were used to! Highlights: a) The wild dog chase b) The mokoro trip at Vumbura Plains c) All of the activities at Footsteps camp d) Sleeping under the stars on the Tok-Tokkie trail e) The balloon ride over Sossusvlei f) The astonishingly beautiful landscapes in the Namib desert Thank you again, Angus, for putting together a terrific holiday for us . . . .
