“The Volunteering Solutions team has always been very kind and quick in answering my emails, always helpful and professional. My experience during these two weeks in Zanzibar went far beyond my expectations, both humanly and professionally. I chose to do surgical training throughout my stay and all the people I met in the operating theatres welcomed me so kindly that I felt part of them right from the start. I found helpful and open people, as well as attentive professionals. I'm very grateful to everyone. I had the opportunity to observe different healthcare professionals at work and the various dynamics inside and outside the operating theatres. They were days lived intensively, during which I learnt a lot not only on a working level but also on a relational level. In addition, at the local coordinator's house I met some incredible people with whom I shared this experience and with whom we formed genuine bonds. Living in his house was a chance to better understand the life of the locals and to immerse myself in the culture of Zanzibar. I am extremely happy that I made the choice of this medical volunteering programme because it was a unique experience, which was really essential for me to have confirmed my choice to dedicate my life trying to help others through my hands with surgery.”

“Hello I Am Georgina Duran from México. I was a volunteer at an Elephant Camp in Chang Mai. My volunteer experience in Thailand was absolutely unforgettable. The facilities were excellent, providing a very comfortable environment throughout my stay. The food was exquisite—flavorful and authentic, a true reflection of Thai and Karen cuisine The location itself was incredible. Despite only spending one week there, waking up every morning and seeing nine elephants from my window felt like a dream come true. Taking care of them—whether it was cleaning up after them, feeding them, or walking them each day—gave me not only a deep sense of accomplishment but also a profound connection to nature. Our guide, Viskey, was incredibly attentive and taught us so much about the ecosystem and the local flora. The community living on the farm also made our stay special. They shared their delicious meals with us and even gave us the chance to cook and dine together. After this experience, I’m certain that my future travels will always revolve around serving nature and animals. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to make a meaningful impact while connecting with wildlife.”

“I really appreciate the time I spent volunteering with Friends For Asia’s ‘Children Home’ placement. The children are so beautiful and interactive! It was truly eye-opening to connect with children one on one and in groups, sharing laughter, smiles and intense eye-contact. During my daily life it is not often that I can interact with children and learn from staff in how to care for babies and toddlers. What I have learnt over the two week experience are treasured memories and matured understandings that I will use for my future. Going in I was apprehensive of initially interacting with the children as it is so foreign to me but having spent two weeks with children under the age of five, I feel confident in myself in continuing to be a positive and uplifting example to every child I encounter.”

“Meu nome é Anna Bárbara, sou do brasil, sou estudante de medicina e estou em Cusco para um voluntariado voltando a medicina. Minha experiência em Cusco foi maravilhosa, muito inesquecível e com vários aprendizados. Visitei Machu Picchu, moray, montanha colorida e vários outros lugares incríveis. Voltado a medicina trabalhei em dois hospitais diferentes, em um acompanhei o dia dia dos médicos em consultas e no outro acompanhei uma obstetra que realizou partos. Minha estadia foi de 1 mês, confesso que fiquei ansiosa para voltar ao Brasil pois fiquei por muito tempo em Peru mas tive todo o suporte necessário dos coordenadores e o pessoal da casa em que me hospedei, são pessoas maravilhosas que eu amei conhecer e vou levá-las para sempre em meu coração. Enfim, foi uma experiência nova, maravilhosa, difícil, enriquecedora, com vários aprendizados para levar para toda vida.”

“The whole organisation before I went to Nairobi was already really good. The website had every step in it and when I had a question they immediately replied. Also when I landed in Nairobi, they picked me up from the airport. I felt really welcomed. Also the whole organisation in Nairobi was perfect. I would recommend it to everyone and I would do it again. It was an incredible experience! :)”

“Absolutely loved my time volunteering at Makimei Children’s home over the last 5 weeks. Everyone felt like family and I was so sad to have to leave. Was such an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend to everyone. We were very well looked after at the accommodation and by the coordinators, everyone was very helpful along the way.”

I felt really fulfilled by giving something to the people who don’t have so much, even if at the beginning I had mixed feelings due to their lifes, but once I realized their happiness, these feelings had disappeared. “Volunteering Solutions was quite helpful in all aspects of the volunteer process. The staff provided a great host home, communications and volunteer opportunities. We were told the more you jump in and participate the more you get out. This was definitely true. I helped the maintenance crew at Kay Dee Preschool paint fences and perform yard work. The school looks much nicer after our work.”

“I joined NGO Support program - Human Rights and Women Empowerment in Morocco. First, thank you for support and kindness and support throughout my project. This was my first time to go to African continent by myself, so I got a bit tense at the beginning. However, not only local kind people but also VolSol nice staffs helped me a lot to have a great time there. I worked for local NGO, it has a significant meaning for me since I want to work in another country in the future. That was exactly what I sought for for a long time. Furthermore, I could have great friends there not only staying at Moroccan traditional house. Our relationship will long last. The weather was all beautiful, I didn't use my umbrella even once. However, there were some things that I wanted you to improve. Regarding the very volunteering, I wanted my boss to do instruction and showed me an over view of their work. I could not figure out what I should do for a few beginning days. And regarding house, there were largely 4 points. One is that there are no windows and 2 out of 6 lights didn't work at first, my room was always dark. And there was no laundry in my Riad, I had to pay extra money for cleaning service. And I could not rock up my room. My room was easy to get in, so I was always worried about my belongings and night. And there were no AC in the room, so I couldn't control the temperature in mornings and evenings. If you are interested in this project, support for local NGO, women empowerment and human rights, you should check your belongings well. There are literally nothing except for bed, toilet, shower, washbasin. Overall, the life there was good and will work well for my future, but I wanted to know the facility before especially for security. I think that this program is worth paying on the whole, since we can connect supporter anytime and have house and meals, and great friends. I recommend you join! but don't forget to prepare well enough.”

Volunteering in Kenya is something that allows you to open your eyes to something surreal. The children I met taught me much more than I could ever teach them. “This was definitely the best experience I had in my life so far. The relationship with the other volunteers there was amazing and the project was incredibly interesting. As a medical student you won't go back home with a lot of new clinical knowledges, but you will become a better person (and so a better doctor) for sure. Just a piece of advice, wait to book the safari until you are there so you can go with your fellow volunteers!”

“The incredible warmth of the children in the Kindergarten in Cusco and the loving welcome of the host family and participation in family life are truly unique! After just 2 weeks, saying goodbye is emotional and very difficult. Despite the short preparation time (booking 1 month before departure), the team made a unique experience possible. And if one or two questions were still unanswered, they were quick to deal with our concerns and always found a good solution to make fantastic tours possible alongside the volunteering. Getting to know the other volunteers and exploring a foreign country together was a special bonus. Thanks to everyone for an unforgettable time!”
