I have not actually taken a cruise with Variety, although I was very interested in several offered. I have just been repeatedly mis-informed by the US office about their special offers and then about certain cabins, with statements in emails being completely at odds with their own publications. I had to send a screen shot of their own website, and even then, no acknowledgement of error nor hint of apology. To espress my concern directly to Variety, I have sent 3 emails, including to marketing@ (as that is mentioned in several company responses on this site). No response. Perhaps this has just saved me from a much worse experience such as those described by others on this site, though I have little doubt that the trips can be wonderful if all goes well.

The primary reason I chose the "adriatic odyssey" on the Callisto was the opportunity of daily swimming from the boat. The brochure advertised almost daily swimming, but in reality we were able to swim only once from the boat in the entire week. Something to do with the ship being of Panamanian registry. Whatever the reason, this is by definition false advertising, and given the cost of the cruise, pretty outrageous.

Greek Islands cruise on Harmony V. First of all it is not a yacht and not a luxury one, it is just a worn out boat with drab interiors, grey looking linen and towels to match. Accomodation is very basic, the food is average to put it politely. They employ staff from third world countries, who do not know anything about the wine and food they serve. When it comes to drinks from the bar they charge extra for soda water that is added to your spirits...what planet did they come from? For the first two days they were changing our itenerary every few hours, so eventually we did not go to Crete, but went to some smaller island. They kept blaming the weather ahead. To cut the long story short, the best time we had it was on the land, not on the boat. We have met a few couples from France and Italy and they were of the same opinion about this cruise. I think that it is grossly overpriced for what is on offer and we are very disappointed.
