When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Very good service, quick to answer the phone when I had a query, however unable to assist over the phone. Took a few hours to respond via message but solved the issue within the day. Would recommend to a friend. (Be aware emails do go into junk with hotmail email addresses)”

Hi there Thanks for your review. When someone needs to make a significant change to their policy, for example the spelling of a name, or a date of birth, we do need this to be communicated to us in writing to avoid any errors, and also to have a audit trail for the insurer. We’re very sorry if this wasn’t explained to you, but we do answer all emails received between 9am and 6pm the same day, 365 days a year. Hotmail spam rules are a mystery to everyone, including we think Microsoft. We use Microsoft ourselves for sending some of our emails, and our domain has SPF and DMARC records and reverse look-up to ensure that our emails don’t go into SPAM. But Hotmail accounts still do their own thing, but we do encourage our customers to check their SPAM folders regularly. The True Traveller

“I would give 5/5 but I’ve not had to claim👍 This review is on my experience with taking out and renewing insurance - always simple and non stressful experience - which has enabled my travelling to be done with the confidence that my needs as a 62 year old are covered I’ve already recommended this cove to others - and am confident to continue to suggest using True Traveller”

“Tuetraveller was the only insurance I was eligible to take out for Canada, which covers COVID, as it offered cover for + a year and i had not been back in the UK for the last 6 months. Great customer service over the phone though and pretty comprehensive, I found it had a good reputation for a straightforward claims process from other backpackers on the Facebook groups. The only downside is it is very expensive in comparison to other companies, I paid over £800 for basic cover and it doesn't even include baggage/passport loss/theft, manual (farm) work or winter sports, which will add up to way over 1k if I need to take it out (!!).”

Hi there Thanks for your review. When you bought your policy with us online, you decided to go for our mid-range Traveller policy, with some extras. Our True Value product would be better value for you. The fact is, for 2 years of continual cover, travel insurance does appear to be expensive, but the reality is you're paying much less than the equivalent of a cup of coffee a day for medical cover. If you want to change to the True Value policy and get a refund of the difference, please just contact our team. The True Traveller

“Very easy to set up, perfect for travelling when your visa requires insurance (like the IEC), easy to renew or extend when needed. Only downside is that it the cheaper policy only really covers you if you get seriously hurt or die and need your body shipped home. You still need subsequent insurance to cover doctors visits and hotel bookings.”

Hi there Thanks for your review. The only difference between our policies is the level of cover. On all the policies, the medical part covers you for urgent medical attention if there is a sudden and unexpected accident or if you become ill during a trip. So, if you get a minor ailment or injury and need medical attention, go to a clinic or a Doctor; that's covered. Cancellation and Curtailment cover again covers all policies, but again the cover levels differ, from £1,000 of cover on the True Value, up to £7,500 on the Traveller Plus. The True Traveller

“I have not yet needed to claim anything but my the initial experience has been very good. In terms of the ease of use, cost, extent of cover, True Traveller has performed very well. I looked through other travel insurance companies but found the cover provided by TT to be the best. Their explanation of how Coronavirus will affect or not affect certain policies depending upon location was well set out to boot. Will most likely use again.”
