True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Very satisfied, when everything happened with the corona virus my flights were cancelled and I was able to extend my insurance while out of the country which just made me feel a lot more secure- would not hesitate to buy my insurance through them again :)”

“I have been using True Traveller for the last couple of years when travelling. I am on the road most of the time so my travel insurance is important to me. A couple of months ago I was in India, having a lot of pains in my teeth, where I had to go to the dentist to help relieve my pain. I made a claim to True Traveller and they returned my money back easily. I can highly recommend True Traveller to anyone who's planning to go travelling or who's already on the road, but doesn't have an insurance yet.”

“Have been fortunate enough to not have to use these guys as of yet and intend to keep it that way, but the customisation options when selecting your bespoke insurance level and coverage are great and one of the reasons I chose to go with True Traveller. I am confident and know that if I ever have the misfortune to have to resort to claim, I will be met with an efficient and speedy service that will help me with whatever I need! Thumbs up from me!”

“Very quick and easy to arrange cover. Stuck in New Zealand due to coronavirus lockdown and when trying to rearrange flight home, my original insurers claimed that due to government advice against travel the cover was no longer valid!! Thank you True Traveller for the peace of mind at a stressful time.”

“Since most reviews are pre-claim, here's a different one. I have activated an 18months insurance and 2 months in I had to make 2 claims: one for medical expense, one for a lost phone. It has been very easy to get in touch with them (24h medical emergency phone) and to file the medical claim (which was paid out). The lost phone claim was not paid and they gave clear reasons as to why, which are copy-paste of their insurance document, so nothing unforeseen, it was a fault on my side for not getting the right documents when the loss happened and trying to claim it a month afterward. They have been great, clear and concise and I highly recommend them.”

“I use their services the first time. Stuck on my way during the corona virus chaos. I needed to prolong my current insurance, already during my trip. True Traveller was almost only one option, recommend also by my friend (also traveller). The purchase process was easy and I got all info I needed. Also their responses of their support are fast. I put 4 from 5 not cause I'm unsatisfied but cause I haven't known how it works in reality.”

“Due to the corona crisis I had to extend my travel insurance. Applying on line is easy and straight forward.giving me the peace of mind straight away. I've read many Travel Insurance Terms and Conditions and found that True Traveler offers more options and are very flexable. There are many satisfied customers. Seems to be the best all round. Im sure if and when I need to use them I know from there previous reviews they will be there.”

“Usually, insurance companies, like banks, are one of those types of businesses that you need but wish you didn't and surely you don't look forward to dealing with. The concept of liking or recommending one might sound weird, sort of like recommending a proctologist for a prostate exam. Surely enough, if I would have been asked to review an insurance company a few years ago, before I decided to leave everything behind and travel the world full time, and really get to appreciate their service, my answer would have been very different, R-rated and full of angry exclamation marks... However, here I am, voluntarily and without coercion, to say TrueTraveller has changed all that for me. I honestly think they are the best travel insurance I've seen (and I've tried many) and couldn't be happier with them from the beginning. It feels like it has been designed by real travellers, focusing on offering the options we'd really want or need, and giving us full freedom to pick and choose, to make a policy adapted to our specific needs. From the excess waiver option, to optional coverage of all adventure activities imaginable, or baggage insurance, or specific items coverage... it's all there so you can choose only what you want. All that, plus its pretty reasonable pricing, extensive health coverage, and the option to sign in for a new policy while you are already travelling make TrueTraveller, in my opinion, the best travel insurance you can find out there.”
