True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“I’ve bought travel insurance for the second time through True Traveller as they have been awesome! I actually had to make three claims during my first 2 year period, which is a nerve racking process when you’re handed the bills however, after a couple of phone calls it was all handled! Simple, reliable, great customer experience.”

“In the height of Covid 19 I was travelling in a motorhome in France which is where we chose to lock down. (We are full time travellers) Our then insurance policy wouldn’t cover us for continuation of travel as they only allowed for 90 days at a time in Europe. This is when I found True Traveller. My original insurer quoted the same money for 4 months cover as true traveller quoted for 16 months cover! Wish I had found them first. The already travelling option is awesome and the process so simple! Website is in plain English and easy to navigate. 5 * from me!”

“True Traveller insurance is not one of those cheap ones, but for the price you pay you get adequate quality. I haven't made a claim so far during last 2 years of using this insurance. However, my close person who made 2 claims was fully satisfied. Great communication, claims successfully approved and covered. In overal, for my next journey I will choose True Traveller!”

I am currently stuck whilst travelling abroad due to covid-19 pandemic, my insurance policy with another company expired due to the unexpected longevity of my trip and to take a new travel policy with True Traveller took just moments to get a quote and pay for. “When I have to ring to either renew a policy, or get help about a claim, the staff are always really helpful. I recently had to renew a policy and went on to the website, but had difficulty completing the section on 'conditions' that have to be declared - when I tried to 'go back a space', the system kept sending me right back to the beginning of the process and it was difficult to find the exact medical terminology, so I rang the helpline. Stephan was really helpful and talked me through the whole process to enable me to renew the policy, so I am grateful for that! Also had to make a claim recently - the process to alert the insurance about an emergency hospital visit was very straightforward. Just waiting to see if things go ok with the hospital sending the bills to the insurance company! Have had some problems with hospitals before - which is difficult for the insurance to control, but the insurance staff at are always willing to try to assist. Thank you!”

“I had to visit a doc while traveling in Brasil. Called the customer support line. Few minutes describing the situation, one email with detail and I got my reimbursement in a week to my account. Extension of the policy seamles as well. Great job for now.”

“Have always returned to TT for my travel insurance -- I've taken out at least 5 policies with them now. Great coverage levels and flexible approach means TT is perfect for longer trips, one-way trips or more open-ended trips. No worries they're going to try and wiggle out using a loophole about return tickets when you want to travel without planning your return in advance. Great interface, clear communication and rapid customer service.”
