When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Insanely expensive but we had no choice. We are already travelling and forgot to get insurance. Lower level of cover than other ‘pre travel’ insurance. Cost us ~£170 instead of £45. Captive audience I suppose. Will do our best to never use you again! Can’t speak to making a claim as we haven’t had to yet but this was enough to put me off future business with you 👍🏼”

Hi We sorry you felt the price was expensive, but you did elect to add on some extras when you purchased the policy, and declared some pre-existing medical conditions which added on additonal premium. The additional funds for "already travelling" is £6.50 per person. All insurance is expensive is you don't need to claim, but star ratings of insurance really should be based on the claims service and not the price you pay. True Travelller

“Easy sign up. But it's not clear up front who provides the insurance (which company). Also there's no information up front about how to file a claim or the steps involved. In other words the it's geared to sign you up easily. But the real value is when you need to file a claim”

“After long research, I found the best deal at True Traveller Insurance. I got a quote that covered everything I needed and was cheap since I am traveling as a backpacker and didn't want to spend a fortune on my insurance. “Booked online. Real easy to find the insurance l required. Very easy process to follow through to check out. And a reasonably competitive price! l have not had to make a claim yet and l don't know how easy this will be. That's why the 4 stars. Otherwise 5.”

“Everything was handled quickly and efficiently, both on the phone and on the website. The telephone staff were friendly and helpful and the booking process online was straightforward. I would vertainly recommend True Traveller travel insurance, especially as was our case, if you need insurance for a trip which doesn't start and end in the UK”

“Used Truetraveller when my son travelled in se asia and cut his foot on sea coral. Couldn’t have been simpler to resolve. So using them again for his ski insurance. All looks good. Medical cover looks to be well covered. Again easy to understand as far as I can see?”

“I used true traveller when travelling for 5 months in Asia. I think it was reasonably priced and I loved that you could extend the policy for a discounted rate while you were travelling as I didn’t have a definite date I would return. I did have to claim from my insurance for medical reasons when I visited a hospital. The process was so quick and easy! I filled in an online form which took less than 10 mins and asked very reasonable questions and I was paid the claim the next day!”
