When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“I've got insurance with these guys on 3 various trips...needed to claim once and they didn't give me issues at all...for one of them...didnt even have the hospital receipt as i lost it but had the bank statement showing the payment...and they still refunded me the fee so im very grateful for that! :)”

“Very well designed website makes the whole process more inviting for young users, clear terms and options from the user interface design. It could be improved by giving more options for the area of travel section. Maybe you should be able to choose specific countries aswell as different areas.”

“It is easy to buy and has good policy options. The live chat works well, but only during the UK working hours. If you are in a different time zone, you probably have to send an e-mail. Luckily so far, my trips have gone well, so I can't say anything about getting your money back for something.”

“As one of the few travel insurance companies to offer up to 2 year of cover (necessary for your IEC visa), I found their prices to be fair when compared with other companies offering similar cover. I found the process of getting cover easy and straight forward and finding information regarding individual sections of the cover was readily and easily available. Although the addition of baggage cover came at a steeper cost then anticipated, it is a necessary evil for peace of mind if anything were to happen to our valuables. The travel resumption add on is also a great addition which other insurers seem not to provide. All in all I would definitely recommend True Traveller and I hope that, if needs be (hopefully not), making any claims on the policy will be as simple as setting it up.”

“The purchasing experience I had with True Traveller was one of the most straight forwards insurance bookings I’ve ever seen. They are upfront and transparent about the cost and coverage and it was easy to customise my insurance to cover what I needed. I haven’t yet needed to make a claim but have had very positive feedback about the claims process from fellow travellers.if I do, I’ll be back to update my review!”

“I did several hours of research before finally deciding to buy my travel insurance with True Traveller. In comparison to many other specialist trekking insurers, it provided a value for money comprehensive package (in my opinion). I am HM Forces and True Traveller will give me a full refund if my leave is cancelled; this is not offered by all companies and was an important part of my decision to choose True Traveller.”

“I haven't had to claim on the insurance yet, but the process of purchasing it was very easy and much more self explanatory than most insurance companies I've brought from before. I'm using it for my 2 year working holiday visa in Canada, and it seemed to be the best option!”

“Easy and clear to take out, and much better value than other policies I looked into. Also great that’s it’s easy to renew whilst I’m still travelling. I had some issues getting a small claim paid into my non-English account, so it took longer than it should have, but it was all sorted in the end.”

“We have been travelling abroad camping, cycling and climbing for the last 30+ years and have bought insurance from a number of different companies. Following a recommendation from friends we looked into True Traveller. They were very competitively priced and offered a wide array of packages to choose from. The website was easy to use and the customer advisors were helpful and knowledgeable. Having never had to make a claim before, this year we had a bad accident requiring helicopter rescue and hospitalisation. The advisors helped get everything sorted and us home for which we are very grateful. The insurance definitely did what we bought it to do. In our experience, True Traveller is more flexible than comparable companies. For example, we recently extended our cover whilst in the middle of a trip. We wholeheartedly recommend True Traveller as we would have encountered serious financial and logistical difficulties if we had not had their support after our accident. Please make sure you are properly insured for the activities you are intending to do! Rob and Sara Deane. UK”
