When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“Needed to extend our travel insurance as we were away for longer than expected. The insurer we were already with refused to do this. Found truetraveller through a google search and the on line process was straightforward and fairly priced.”

“This is a pre-travel review and so I cannot speak for how the claims process might work (and I hope I don't find myself in a position to be able to comment upon it.) However, so far, so very good. I have had to phone them a few times as our plans have changed etc. Firstly, the phone has been answered promptly and secondly, each member of staff that I have spoken to has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They have been great.”

“I'm 65 years young and I have never left a review for anything before but with the service given by these guys being so outstanding, I just couldn’t not leave a review! Best Price – Excellent Service – Transparent….. However, I do have one complaint…. I don’t ever want to use another Travel Insurance Company in the future, but alas, their upper age limit for cover is 65, so I am going to have too...sob..sob COME ON BOYS….. Get it sorted, 65 is young these days, up it to 75 at least!”

“I used TrueTraveller insurance for the first time 2 years ago when I got stuck in Thailand during the first wave of covid. I was really happy about spending so much time on selecting the right insurance company as TrueTraveller was one of few companies that covered Covid even at the beginning of the pandemic. Moreover, I appreciated their service when I got dengue fever. In those tough moments, you see a differnce among diferent providers.”

“You can submit claims electronically. And they have never disputed any of my medical bills (plus they paid my hotel bill when I was fit enough to leave Da Nang hospital but not fit enough to travel back to Ha Noi).”

“This review relates only to the application process. Firstly, the policy allows for travel having already commenced. The application process was straightforward but due to some quirk I was not able to pay online. So, I telephoned and the assistant was extremely helpful enabling me to complete the application and the payment.”

“Used True Traveller for my previous backpacking trip round Asia. During this time, I broke my toe, caught typhus and contracted dengue fever. I went to top hospitals in each case and received all the required treatment (going above and beyond - even getting surgery on my toe). True Traveller paid out for everything. Top tip would be to pay extra for zero excess, I don't know if I'd have been so quick to go to hospital for the tick bites if it wasn't free - turned out this would have been a huge mistake, so I will always pay more upfront for zero excess in the future. Off on another backpacking trip now and I am using True Traveller, this time for both my partner and myself. Love the fact you can tailor your package to different adventure needs so easily.”
