True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“We have used the True Traveller long term travel insurance for the third time in a row, now for 12 months. The application system and process is a dream so easy and makes you wonder why it's so difficult for other companies. We use the True Traveller insurance mainly for health problems while travelling and luckily we have not had extreme problems. We have had some problems like a cracked tooth and some hospital visits and our claims covered by the insurance were paid swiftly and again with a very user-friendly claim process and system. I have previously had so many bad experiences with other types of insurances and other insurance companies. I really hope all insurance businesses, maybe in the future, will get their act together and become as customer friendly as True Traveller.”

“Absolutely fantastic customer experience; flexible policies at good prices. Their staff really listen to what you need and any concerns you have about the level of cover you’d like etc. and are extremely helpful. They are also one of the only providers I’ve come across that will insure your trip even if it doesn’t start and end in the U.K. - really good for those who travel a lot and don’t always have an itinerary. Thoroughly recommend!”

“I find True Traveller very easy to deal with and their website, through which I buy their travel insurance, very easy to use. I need travel insurance which covers a wide range of activities so that when I travel I can do many different activities without having to worry about whether I am covered. I have not found any other company which covers the very wide range of activities that are covered by True Traveller. Certainly just about every activity that is available in the European Alps, such as paragliding, skydiving and canyoning, is covered.”

“I used Truetraveller coverage in Israel this summer where I had a e-scooter accident. Leaving the hospital took only 30 minutes as the team directly sent the payment assurance to the hospital billing desk. Even my wound management costs were covered afterwards paid directly to me. The only improvement I would suggest is to use payment detail forms with international (iBAN) format not UK only. But I sent my details and the wire transfer arrived peoperly6.”

“Already travelling and decided to extend my travels in South East Asia beyond the period originally planned. Therefore was glad to find an insurance company that allows customers to take out new policies whilst already overseas. Application process very straight forward and premiums appear reasonable. Have just extended policy for another year, receiving 10% discount of premium and, just for my own peace of mind, is nice to know still covered. Indeed keeping fingers crossed that even if no claim necessary feel cost of cover well worth it.”

“Often a fear arrises in the belly of heading out to a new country, but my feet are planted firmly on the ground after going through the clear and coherent process of purchasing True Traveller Insurance. I cannot fault it, and am glad for the opportunity to add upgrades during my trip if I so decided to be more adventurous.”

“I've been using the True Traveller for years and have always been happy with them. Over the years of extensive travels all over the world, I had situations when I had to use my insurance policy due to some medical emergencies as well as once my phone was stolen. In all cases, they were incredibly easy to contact and the process making a claim as well as getting a refund for my medical costs and for my phone was easy, self-explanatory and quick, which is great when you're in distress and you need simple processes to help you move on. I never had a situation when they would be trying to prove that I am not eligible for my refund or denied it. There are also lots of options to customise your policy to your needs and you can also change it in most cases if your travel circumstances change too. Great job guys!”

“I’ve used true traveller every trip I’ve had for the last 3 years, whether it be a trekking trip in Nepal, a backpacking trip across Asia or a holiday in Spain. Can’t fault my experience, easy to organise and pay, always easy to communicate with too. Had to cancel a trip in 2018 and someone got back to me immediately after emailing.”

“The review is could be affected by further edits as I still didn't test TrueTraveller on the most important thing: processing a claim. Nevertheless I bought their insurance many times. As said, never needed them to act, luckily. But I can give 5 stars so far because of customer care, friendliness of staff, transparency and also price. I find the annual policy very cheap. At the end, what do you want from and insurance company is that they make you feel safe and protected and they care about you as a customer, and my experience so far made me feel this way.”

“I like True Traveller for the following reasons: 1. I had insurance with another company but its policy was up to 42 days and I was needing longer insurance coverage for my long stay in the U.S (like 5 months long). In other words, I love how True Traveller (TT) allows you to buy its insurance after your trip started! 2. I'm an US citizen resident in one of the countries of EEA so that helps a lot when you don't need to get one of the crappy American travel/health insurance with lousy deductibles, coverage, etc when you can get TT insurance! 3. They cover activities like scuba diving, piloting a private aircraft, trekking, and tons of other sports that many insurance companies won't cover!! This is a major plus for anyone who leads an active lifestyle! 4. Their customer service is great...they were always quick to respond to my email inquires. And it's nice to communicate in English since it's a British company so if you're one of the EEA residents in a country where English isn't used, use True Traveller so you don't have to worry about language barriers while traveling abroad! 5. The website is quick, easy, and user-friendly. It was a breeze to select the options and buy a policy. To sum it up, I highly recommend True Traveller for your travel/medical insurance needs!”
