“it has cracked quit abit, was it dried enough? I have treated it with 4 coats on Swedish oil, lovely colour.”

“Lovely shelf for basin for bathroom which is really well made and good quality and looks great. Only issue is the brackets are quite ugly so options maybe good as cheapens the loom”

“I ordered 4 shelves off you, it would be better for the customer if you allowed them to have the product "cut to length". As the fittings are too close to the ends, so If you want to cut to size you need to drill new holes. Lastly, two of my beams had defects (caused by drill or blade), this was very disappointing, only highlighted after fitting and when uplit”

We do offer this service, you would have needed to leave a note with your order asking for them to be cut to size and our production team will have picked that up for you. “I bought a fireplace beam and it was beautiful but I had personal concerns that the fittings were not going to be strong enough to hold such a heavy beam and they were not as described on the website for the weight of the beam. However, I contacted the company via email, who were always quick with their responses and polite. They explained everything to me but in the end I decided to take up their offer of swopping for another beam with the fittings I believed I was getting. This arrived quite quickly and is now up and looks beautiful. Our fire place fitters agreed the beam is good quality and looks great but they were still reticent about the new fittings - they advise a bar frame fitting - but once up they agreed it feels safe. I would recommend this company - especially in how well they dealt with me in after sales - though early days for me to be able to give a review on the safety of the beam - though of course I have everything crossed.”

We are sorry to hear you had some concerns about the fixings with the beam, as a guide 2 fixings have the potential to hold up to 35kg of weight between them including the weight of the beam and they are designed to hold the weight of the beam. We are glad you found our customer service team helpful and polite :)

“Nice floating shelves. Just what we wanted above the kitchen worktops. But installation not easy for 2 reasons. 1. You have to mark (with pencil) the centre of bracket on wall but there is no way to do that as the bracket obscured the centre. 2. Brackets aren’t square so if you fit them upside down your shelf will slope. They don’t mention that. Better instructions would be a big help.”

Hi Graham, thanks for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you are happy with your Shelves for your kitchen, sorry to hear you did not find the installation process easy, we do email easy to follow installation instructions and the T Brackets supplied are ready versatile and a very clever design - when you tighten the shelf support it should level it as the rod is forced against the back plate the front part of the plate should lift. This will get the rods level :)

“Arrived well packaged, so no damage. Important to read the instructions carefully. I needed to order from Amazon a 20mm spade drill bit for the task of hanging the oak shelf. The fixing brackets were the correct number when viewing the length and weight of the shelf. The shelf, unfortunately, does not butt right against the wall but leaves a small gap due to the fittings sticking out from the shelf slightly. A very minor issue. The shelf looks good with the Christmas cards and small Christmas trees. Nice piece of wood.”

“Excellent product, well packaged and delivered quite quickly. It would be even better if they included a template to aid fixing as it is vital to drill the holes in exactly the right place to get the hidden shelf supports to slide in.”

“The beam I got as a mantle is a beautiful piece of oak wood properly aged and well finished. The company is easy to deal with and they sent the item extremely well packaged and the courier was careful with the item so no damage. The only reason not to give full marks was that the wood has a crack (and I fully realise that cracks are to be expected and are indeed a feature) however this crack is right on the corner and edge of the beam and has opened further since installing so I am keeping an eye on it and hoping it doesn’t get worse. The beam is guaranteed for life so I feel confident to do this.”

We are pleased to hear you are happy with your purchase and you found us an easy company to deal with :) Please be assured cracks are to be expected from air dried timber, it is just the nature of the product. Our beams have been very well air dried for between 3-5 years and cracks are a good indication of this. Typically more cracks may appear or existing cracks might open up further as air dried oak adjusts to room temperature. It is also possible for a small amount of shrinkage to occur, again this is completely normal :) If you do have any concerns in the future please feel free to get in touch with us.

“Wooden Oak Beam is perfect. It has such character and is a quality product. We purchased it with the fittings for the larger beam. However, the plastic raw plugs are not up to the job and we had to buy our own fittings. Now that we've done that, it's perfect.”
