“I was looking for some nice wood for a cellar i was building in my airing cupboard, so a pretty small space! I did have to wait over 4 weeks and they were more expensive than buying locally but so worth it! Beautifully made and finished and look great as you can see. Thanks Ash”

“From the first time of visiting the workshop to look at the oak beams for a mantel and meeting David, it has been a pleasure to do business with Traditional Beams. I have now completed a few purchases through David, for oak beams, planks, live edge slabs and sleepers. The knowledge base is great and each time I have discussed my requirements with David, I have received exactly what I required. “When I first ordered this beam, I was a little dubious to how well it would look as I wanted it to appear as if there was a full, aged beam over my fireplace. How wrong I was to be dubious because this item arrived today, well packaged and with a good quality courier. The next issue I thought I was going to have was how was I able to fit this beam without help? Again the beam arrived with extremely easy pictorial, as well as words, fitting instructions which made the fitting of the beam very easy and very quick for the novice I am. The quality and finish of the item is beautiful. Thank you for this gorgeous item. Money well spent.”

“We received an oak beam that was damaged. We had an immediate response from Traditional beams who then replaced said beam no quibble. The replaced beam was lovely. Great customer service!!!!”

“A first class company! An attractive website which shows off the products well, a responsive team and lovely product. “Did not look like website photo at alI REALLY DISAPPOINTED. I ordered a rustic, worn beam to compliment my lounge. It did not look anything like what I ordered, its new looking with no signs of ageing. Unfortunately the builders put it in before I got home. Company stated this was the beam I ordered. Paid to have it taken out and used it IN my log burner instead!! Do not recommend and will not return.”

Hello Nicola, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I have looked over the email you sent us and the photos of your beam. It appears you may be comparing your beam to just one photo on our website when we have a large variety of photos to give a good representation of how the beams can vary in character. We have photos showing beams with lots of cracks and photos showing beams with no cracks at all so it is disappointing you have left a negative review and not based your purchase on all the information supplied. As oak is a natural product each one varies in regards to cracks and knots and other distinguishing features and we do try to be as clear as possible about this, which is why we show a range of photos on the product page where you purchased your beam. If a customer leaves a note on the order to select one with more cracks, we do try our best to do this but if no notes are left then we assume that you are happy to receive a beam with any varying amount of cracks. The aged style refers to the way we shape the beam, with textured edges and a brushed finish which raises the grain. I can see from your photo this has been done. In addition to this a lot of our photos have been taken in homes months after installation at which point beams will have had time to adjust and may have cracked further. On your email you were planning on ordering another 3 items so its a shock to now hear that you will not return and that you disliked your beam so much. We also do accept returns incase customers are not happy however on this occasion you waited until the beam had been fully installed before getting in touch which unfortunately we can not do an awful lot about. We also advise on our website that beams are checked over and that they are left to acclimatise for 2 weeks prior to installation, we feel if our advise had been followed the installation could have also been avoided and we could have swapped the beam to something with more cracks so that you were much happier with your purchase. I have attached the photo of your beam for reference to this review as we do believe this is a beautiful beam with some lovely character. I'm sorry again that you did not have a good experience.

“The shelves are fantastic, we did receive a floating shelf but customer services immediately sent out our brackets for our bracketed shelf the day after, it was great service. I will use Traditional Beams again!”

“Good quality beam and the instructions made it simple to put up ourselves. The colour was different than I was expecting but it’s hard to judge from pictures online. Aside from that, we’re very happy with our beam!”

Hi Kelly, thanks for leaving us some feedback, we are happy to hear you are happy with the quality of your beam and you found our installation instructions easy to follow. As stated in the product listing as Oak is a natural product each piece can differ with regards to knots/cracks/grain and colour, it all depends on what tree they have been cut from - some pieces are naturally darker/lighter than others, we do try to advertise this the best we can on our website. In addition to this the top photo is from our old colour range and we do advise not to go by one particular photo as they could have been installed in the customers home for a longer period of time and adjusted slightly. If you were unsure of your colour choice by the swatches and got in touch with us we would have happily advised this information and sent over our colour chart to help and you further. Overall we are happy to hear you are happy with the end result of your beam :)
