“Fantastic service. Adapted their timetable of work to fit us in. Enabled us to meet the house sale deadline. Customer service was excellent from initial enquiry to completion of the work. Would definitely recommend the company to future clients. Ask for Leah at the Sherborne office; she really helpful.”

“Website says "request a free survey" and has a timeline from survey to work being completed with the survey resulting in a detailed report of cause of damp and work required. The call back said that they can only repair damp that has had the cause identified by a builder and they can do a survey themselves but it would cost £300. The website is completely misleading.”

Mr Lloyd many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and your feedback. In a majority of instances we do offer free surveys for homeowners but there are times when we are unable to provide a free survey and a survey fee would apply. These however are clearly stated in the terms and conditions on the Request a Survey page. Only when our customer services team have spoken to the person requesting the survey are we able to confirm if a survey fee would apply or not which is why by completing the form you are not actually committing to having a survey. This then allows the freedom to choose another supplier if needs be.

“Overall the service was unsatisfactory and did not meet expectations, given the cost. The positives: the back office were very responsive, accessible and helpful in resolving issues and communicating updates. Unfortunately, the fact that they had to resolve a number of issues is a testament to service received. There were a number of delays which meant a job that was supposed to be 1-2 weeks took six weeks. Work had to be redone and messages repeated a number of times as the team changed over the course of the job. Finally, the work itself was compromised requiring additional guarantees.”

Amar, many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Unfortunately on this occasion, it seems that we did not provide the customer experience that we pride ourselves on. There were regrettably unavoidable delays with this project as a result of team members being struck down with COVID as well as a family bereavement. As a result of this the team members working on your project did change at times. As with many other construction based companies we also suffered from a shortage of materials at the time of installation which added further to the delay. Finally, due to the age of the property, as the installation progressed additional necessary works were uncovered which needed to be carried out. At the end of the project we issued our standard long term guarantees for the works that were carried out.

“I had the amazing Senior Surveyor, Dean Foster, come along and survey my property for damp, and he quickly identified the problem and provided the solutions in expeditious time. I felt so very assured as the explanation was spot on. Dean is extremely professional, personable, courteous and a credit to your organisation. I will certainly pass on his details to others. Well done Timberwise. You were perfect in the execution of receiving my enquiry, booking the appointment and professionalism. Best wishes KC”

“Very bad company DO NOT USE They came out quoted and attended with a schedule of 3 days but after two days did not come back to replace plaster. Had to wait another two weeks. Various excuses and kept putting more on the price by £500 a time. Spoke to them and after admitting their surveyors are not fully qualified and they could not really see any problem. Refused to speak with me again . So much for customer service Louise Fitzpatrick is unhelpful to say the least.”

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Further to our earlier conversation today and the points you have raised. The delay with the plastering was unfortunate but was as a result of our plasterer having to self-isolate due to contracting COVID. We also gave our customer, your daughter, a discount for any inconvenience caused as a result of this unforeseeable delay. The additional costs you refer to are because we would not automatically charge for the dubbing out on the original report and quotation. This is because we did not know how much product would be required until we had hacked off the original plaster and did not wish to charge for any work that may not be required. This was in line with what was stated in the original report. Our surveyors hold the required qualifications for the Timber and Damp industry (CSRT and CSSW) which are issued by the Property Care Association. There is no requirement to be a member of the Royal Institute of Charted Surveyors within our industry as we are not structural engineers. Where a customer has an issue with any work that we have carried out we are more than happy to talk to them to resolve the issue. As a result though of the very confrontational style that was adopted by yourself we were, unfortunately, unable to carry on our dialogue with you. I hope this helps answer the points that you have raised.

“I had Timberwise booked to do a timber and damp proof course survey and quote before I purchased a property. Rachel was amazing holding a slot for me while I mucked her about trying to negotiated access with the estate agents. In the end, I chose not to purchase the property but I would use Timberwise in the future because they were so accommodating.”

“Mid way though building work at our 500-year-old home in Taunton, Somerset, we stumbled across timber damage. Keith from Timberwise came out to survey the property and confirmed areas of historic and recent infestation of woodworm and also death watch beetle. Three weeks later Norman from Timberwise attended the property and over two days treated all the exposed timbers, loft timbers, floorboards, and under the floorboards. Although we could not be at the property at that time, Norman kept us in the loop with daily updates about the work he was carrying out. Following the treatment and on the advice of Timberwise and our builder we replaced three joists and some floorboards. Further down the line, as we put back the lifted floorboards, we contacted Norman to make sure the hardwax oil we planned to use would not adversely affect the Timberwise treatment and Norman was helpful and obliging in his advice. All the Timberwise staff we dealt with were friendly and efficient, from our first contact on the telephone to final correspondence with Jason Wakefield, the South West Regional Manager. Although we won't know for a few years whether the death watch beetle has been totally eradicated, everyone at Timberwise South West did a great job of reassuring us and were a pleasure to deal with.”

“We have had a damp problem for a while now and due to Covid, been putting it off. When we did decide it was safe to get it sorted, we were given several different ideas of what should be done by other companies Rising damp was the issue and Dean Foster explained how the work would be. Work started on 23rd August & we have to say Ian did an absolute brilliant job. He arrived nice & early; explained what he was doing & didn’t stop for air. When completed, Ian helped my husband hoover the carpet & move furniture. He couldn’t have been more helpful.”

“This is our first home and when damp struck we were a bit worried as it's not something I've come across before and it seemed to get worse and we didn't know the source - I contacted Timberwise after seeing great reviews and I'm glad i did! Ella E who i spoke to initially was quick to respond and got the ball rolling and then Elaine K who i spoke to during the booking process/quote acceptance was again very fast to respond and answered every question I had in detail. Peter M, the surveyor who came to look at the property and knew what the cause was straight away and again explained everything to me in detail. The quote was sent through within days and everything was booked quickly. We have just had our work finished off over two days by technician Russ C. Russ was a very friendly bloke from the get go and very easy to talk to (i didn't want to disturb him too much and felt awful i couldn't keep him stocked up with cuppas and food due to covid). He took me through what he would be doing before he started and took me through every step as and when he did it which i thought was brilliant and really helped me understand the work done. He was very tidy, cleaned up after himself and has done a great job, couldn't have hoped for a better person to come work in our house. Something that may seem quite small to some people but this damp has really caused us a headache and worried us over the last few months and we're really glad we used Timberwise, thank you to everyone we came into contact with through the whole process as you were all fantastic and made this a lot easier.”

“Timberwise have been great and honoured my quote post 6 months as my move was delayed Ryan K has been the expert who has been professional ; friendly ; reassuring and in my view done an excellent job . He really would be someone I would recommend and should I need further work ( damp course in my lounge ) I would request Ryan again .
