“I knew I had been over taxed as I'm PAYE and the taxman wrote a few times to say I owed them money. I just never got round to disputing it as I just knew I'd get a load of aggro. Fortunately these guys did all the hard work for me. Thanks”

Hi Gary - an interesting case! This example just goes to show why you shouldn't always just go with what HMRC tell you... Here at The Tax Refund Company, we know the tax laws and regulations inside and out - we've been doing this for over 25 years now! As you've found, even HMRC make mistakes - and it can be virtually impossible for "the average taxpayer" to have enough knowledge to successfully dispute it - or even know when they could be due a claim. “I recurved a letter from hmc saying I was owed £597 I received a cheque from you for just over £300 so does that mean you took the rest if so not impressed and won’t use you again I would of been better claiming myself”

“Whilst I was pleased to receive a payment, I’m not happy about the amount that was taken off. HMRC told me they owed me £185 however I received a cheque for only £116. Surely taking a £70 cut is excessive? I have asked for an explanation but still not received an answer. I’d still like to know why approximately £70 was taken. I understand you need to take a cut but it seems excessive to me.”

Unlike almost all other companies in this market place, applications made to us are professionally reviewed in full before going anywhere near HMRC.
