Poor delivery,waited 14days,and payment was taken on the day of order,so the supplier had the use of my money for 14 days before I received my oil,very unacceptable,will not use the heating oil club again

Hello Gillian, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied, it's a shame you didn't email us after ordering if you were unhappy, we would have tried to help. There is some inaccuracy in your review though; You ordered on January 7th - a Sunday. The order was processed on Monday the 8th and delivered on Tuesday 16th. The average days quoted on our site are working days which commence the day following order process, as established with our suppliers. This actually took significantly less than two weeks from order to delivery and was in fact only 6 working days, which in January is actually not bad by any industry standards. In terms of payment, all payments are taken at the point of processing by our suppliers, this is also standard practice. I'm not sure how many online providers let you pay for something after it has been received. Mark.

I ran out of oil just prior to Christmas and tried my normal provider first and thought the price was too high so I tried the heating oil club. The price was better and they delivered quicker than their quoted date which was helpful

Short delivery time and a good price for the oil

Ordered oil and received an email confirmation. Then waited 3 weeks to be given a delivery date. Oil failed to arrive on due date. I asked why from the HOC and they replied that it was all ok their end and it was the supplier. Contacted the supplier. They wouldn't deliver as they had not received payment. Finally had to reorder directly with the supplier who delivered within 48 hours for the same price. HOC then blamed me saying the original order had failed due to my card having insufficient funds. Incorrect. Both they and the supplier had my order and sent me confirmation. Will not use again.

Hello Paul, Yes, this did not go well and Certas Energy did apologise to you for their having not resolved the issues presented in a timely manner. A couple of points though; * At no point did we say there were not enough funds in your account, we have no knowledge of why your card was originally declined as all payments are taken by our suppliers, though we did say it was very likely a typo. * You did not place another order with Certas, all that happened was that your card details were confirmed and the order was then processed via ourselves. *The delivery was made at the same price because we insisted upon it, despite prices having risen significantly. *Confirmation was indeed sent when your order was placed. We also sent you an email advising that your payment had been declined and that the suppliers would contact you - We emailed again with the following message; 'Paul, the original order was declined BUT Certas did not manage to talk with you. Our suppliers take all payments. The payment made today, to Certas has been taken as payment for the original order via ourselves. There is no payment to refund as we do not take payments and Certas were unable to originally take payment. If I cancel this order, there is not another order in place with Certas, I will now ask Certas to call you and confirm that is the case.' As I said, it is fair to say that this did not go as planned but it is also fair to say that there are a range of inaccuracies in your review. Mark.

The website system gives you an approximate date for delivery which is fine. However, we were then informed by text that our delivery would be on a certain date, which never showed up, then another text giving a second date, which also never showed up, resulting in various calls to The Heating Oil Club to find out what was going on. All contact with the staff at THOClub was professional and courteous and helpful, but it appears that they have some less than reliable contractors regionally so I’m not going to strongly recommend this service without serious misgiving regarding their arrangements with contractors. The website gives no acceptable update information and I felt that other providers have done a much better job.

There was a problem with this order and we do apologise for that. The supplier had tried to deliver earlier than suggested on two occasions but had some problems, it was after all the busiest period of the year. At no point were any phone calls made to The Heating Oil Club though we did receive an email which we responded to immediately. In fairness, the proposed deliver by date was 3rd January and we did get it delivered on the 3rd. We and our suppliers do work very hard to satisfy all of our members but on occasions, not everything goes quite as well as it might.
On previous occasions yes, with my latest order not happy. A delivery order, confirmed 26th November was not delivered due to the Tanker Driver believing there was a fault with the tank. So now my premises is marked as 'defective tank'. I am quite happy with the delivery driver using his judgement regarding delivery of fuel to prevent potential environmental damage if a tank fails. However my examination of the tank could only find a miniscule hairline crack in the gel coating of the tank, which is 18 years old. I do wonder what training or qualification that the tanker driver holds to declare a tank unsafe? So I decide to replace the tank, (which became a long drawn out saga, nothing to do with The Heating Oil Club), so I am over £600 down on having to replace an (allegedly) defective tank. The tank is eventually replaced and I re order oil on the 14th December, even though I asked the Heating Oil Club to hold my order pending advise on replacing the tank. The new order price is now nearly £45 more and as Christmas is coming delivery is not scheduled until beginning the 28th of December. It is now Christmas and my heating oil has now run out and it is freezing cold. Fortunately I transfer 200 litres from my sons house who fortunately lives close by. 28th December no sign of delivery, despite chasing up. Apparently the cold weather has affected deliveries. (just like it affected the delivery of my replacement tank). POOR excuse what if the depot caught fire and they called the Fire Service to be told attendances are two days late due to 'The Weather'. Oil eventually arrives on the 4th January HOORAY. But no Christmas present for the wife as I could not afford it!

Well, this was quite an unusual one but when it comes to HSE and environmental matters, in this case a split tank, we have to respond to the advice of our suppliers, they are experts in these things and all drivers are trained in tank inspection. The price issue is a little mute I feel as no supplier will hold a price for the length of time suggested in terms of a tank replacement, prices were always going to rise as we went into December and Christmas. You did email me saying that you were 'only joking about the Fire Service response' - and we really did pull the stops out to get your oil to you. All that said, the problems encountered with the weather were obvious for all to see but we would still normally expect to do better. The supplier did hold up their hands as for some reason, your account was not updated and still showed as 'unsafe' due to the earlier identified problem. Please give us another try - hopefully when we are not within the peak of the Christmas rush! Thanks. Mark.
