“I was impressed with the amount of detail that went into the programme. I was, however, distracted with the one tutor, who uses SO many gestures in the video that I prefered to just read the transcipt while she spoke, rather than watch. There is, understandably, a lot of repetition, which re-enforces the learning point. My tutor, Alex, was always quick in marking my assignments and provided useful additional content.”

“I found this course VERY user-friendly, which was a feature I was most looking for in an online course, seeing as I don't engage with online learning as well as I do in real life. One major bonus for me was the fact that it also offered an in-person intensive weekend course, which I found extremely useful, well-planned and successfully delivered, with a real-feel of life as a TEFL teacher: planning & delivering lessons as a teacher with lots of guidance and feedback, but also attending lessons as a student to get an idea of what pupils might experience. I thouroughly researched multiple courses by reading their reviews (and this course was by far the best rated) and also signed up to the online TEFL Taster to get a feel for the platform, the inferface and the content, and to see how I would engage with it. The cost for the 120h course was very well-priced for what it offered: 2 full days of in-person learning, videos, materials and resources, advice for future jobs and locations, a helpful and prompt tutor to feedback and give advice on assignments. I found the short, but to-the-point videos worked best for me, as they kept me engaged, made me feel motivated to continue once seeing my fast progress, while the quizes made sure I took in and digested the information and consolidated it. I also enjoyed the assignments as they provided me with a real opportunity to put in practice what I have learned and got a chance to act as a teacher in preparation for the real thing. My most challenging aspect when writing assignments was sticking to the word count and not going over, which is a skill I can now say I master. The classroom practice videos were of tremendous help: by seeing it done correctly and wrongly I could better gage into what dynamic to expect between students and teacher, and how a well-planned lesson can land if delivered well or not so well. The only downside was that I couldn't hear the students' input or conversations when peer/group working very well at times, perhaps because they didn't have microphones. Advice: I started my TEFL course on the 20th October 2023 and attended the in-person classroom course on 4th and 5th November and I HIGHLY recommend you take a similar approach. Starting from the beginning with the real life classroom experience will set you up with strong foundations to continue and succeed in the online part of the course. You are given a booklet, handouts, demos and practice materials which will greatly assist you in your future assignments and planning!”

“In general I felt it was a good course with some elements considerably more useful than others. The grammar course was interesting and I learned some things I'd never learned before. For example, I'd never learned the term "gerund" in any class ever. The methodology course was useful and interesting. The video observation course was "OK" . Teaching larger classes and the telephone teaching courses were less useful. The website navigation worked well most of the time with only occasional minor navigational inconveniences. It never crashed and was always usable. The videos were generally good examples of teaching technique. The difference in UK and American usage was occasionally amusing but not a major distraction. All in all it was time well spent and I got some ideas for teaching I would not have considered before taking the course. Thank you!”

“It is an interesting course, as a native speaker there are certain points that you know outright but might not consider when teaching someone new to the language. Is this irreplaceable? No. Is this useful? Yes.”

“I like this course a lot. It started with grammar and then explained the basiscs of good teaching, gave examples of bad teaching as well haha, but what I really like was the broad range of videos showing how to prepare a lesson plan, how to adjust it depending on age, number of students, circumstances and everything. I recommend it to everyone! It's enjoyable and useful!”

“I found the lesson and instructions clear and easy to follow. Interaction with students and teachers gave me an insight into what an international English class may look like. I loved the quizzes and the 70% pass expectation as you felt as though you had a chance to redeem yourself. I did have problems with some quizzes where the answers weren't saved and I scored low the first time around. A technical glitch perhaps. Other than that, I am grateful for the support from Joanna, especially when tackling the end-of-unit assignments. I have no hesitation in recommending this course. Thank you for my certificate. “The course was good and comprehensive, covering all the basics of teaching english as a foreign language. Highlight was the 30hr in person weekday element to my course. You could tell Simon as genuinely passionate and highly skilled at teaching English and languages in general. “It was a great course that offered many videos and everything you need to know to be a good teacher. I realized so many things now and by applying everything I saw and read in this course , I can make my classes both interesting and enjoyable. It started with grammar and it explained all the teaching methodology for the rest of the modules, including online(skype, zoom) It was demanding in doing the assignment, but my tutor, Asif was great in explaining everything to me. I love this course and warmly recommend to everyone, both new in teaching or who only wants to improve their teaching style. Thank you.”

“The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 and not 5/5 is because of the course about online teaching. It left some things to be desired. Most things are online now. It would have been great to spend more time gaining familiarity with that. I especially would have loved to have been able to participate in a couple of real/live online sessions where I could have acted as a student teacher or simply an observer. Another idea would be to allow us to teach a brief online lesson to someone, or to at least ask us if we would like that (I'm sure some people would prefer to pass haha, but I would have liked the opportunity). The only other criticism I have is about the part on "difficult" or disruptive students. As a former high school teacher, that part was a joke. If you want to prepare us for difficult students, we need to have much better examples of difficult students, not students who are great but may have misunderstood or forgotten the instructions. Thank you! If you like my ideas, then feel free to reach out and consider hiring me!”
