“I enjoyed the course and the information taught. My instructor/grader was very helpful in his input on the homework assignments. The video sessions of actual class sessions were very helpful. I loved the creativity with which the teachers taught the TEFL method. The only thing I would add is that it would be nice if some of the videos of the class sessions had been with beginner English students. All the sessions were with more advanced students, which looks very different than working with beginning students. It would also be nice to have had some sessions with students who are not literate in their language. That would have been helpful. I work with refugees with many of them coming from countries that don't allow women to go to school so they are illiterate in their spoken language.”

“I enjoyed everything about the course except the fact the the assignment are very complex and when you receive a corrected assignment the feedback doesn't really explain what you have done wrong on your assignment”

“TEFL Course exceeded my expectations with its comprehensive curriculum and practical training. It's easy, great and especially helped me a lot with its useful resources. The videos were my favorite part as a deaf person with a hearing aid made me more comfortable in doing this course.”

“The lessons are very good, albeit I wish some of them followed a better order. For example, I found it beneficial at times to “skip ahead” to later modules and take notes from those first, then go back and review content from previous modules I had originally struggled with. This is mostly in regard to the methodology course—I feel at some points I didn’t understand things until I revisited them at a later time. In any case, the lessons are very nicely organized and concise in terms of content and meaning, and I feel we are taught how to teach English appropriately. We are given tools to be a teacher, rather than just being taught only what to teach. Lastly, the website is a bit odd at time; a page may sometimes take forever to load, or it’s just better to reload the bag (back a page then try again). I feel like I have been given a great opportunity with this online course, thank you.”

“I was very pleased with the program! I did feel like it was very detailed in what was expected in the assignments, but for the price of the program, I would like to have experienced more assignments along with a greater degree of rigor. As a teacher of almost twenty years, I feel like it should have been a little tougher. I think that by doing that it would weed out individuals who are not as serious as they should be.”

“There was a wide selection of courses so I was able to choose the one that I thought would suit me best. Self directed study worked very well for me, but I was astounded at the complete lack of citations of any references to the theoretical knowledge underpinning the content. I also found it very difficult to not engage in much critical thinking about the content, it was very prescriptive and, at times, based on my existing teaching experience, I disagreed with what I was being asked to do as a TEFL teacher, but there was little room for debate. Although the assessments were varied, the expectations were high, in terms of word limits, which constrained answers. It is really difficult to 'analyse' a concept in 100 words, to a good academic standard, for example. The learning outcomes of each assessment could have been much clearer. Despite the many frustrations with what I was being asked to do and the manner in which I was asked to respond in assessments, once I had worked out that I was only required to reproduce TEFL information, I found it easier to achieve.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this course! My only suggestion would be to include a feature to speed up the videos for those who are a bit time-poor. Other than that, I highly recommend this course- it was informative and engaging.”
