“Hi there, I have recently joined so I can’t really say much. However the content on the courses are in depth and the video helps put the content into play which is useful. Only a few courses in at the moment but am enjoying it. The quizzes require a 100% in order to pass which is a bit stressful but given the chance of re attempting them 3 times is assuring. My tutor at the moment has given feedback within 2 days which is great as it allows me to understand how I did and how I could have improved, with the content still fresh in my mind which is useful if I had to re do an assignment.”

“I really enjoyed the course- the classroom observation videos were excellent and allowed me to really get a handle on the methodologies being presented. Feedback on assignments allowed me to note ways to improve my approach to topics.”

“I have enjoyed taking the course with TEFL Org. I found it challenging at times to write the assignments but once a mission was accomplished it felt very satisfying. My tutor communicated swiftly when needed and taking this course has helped me realise which teaching method would suit me. I have also participated in a couple of complementary webinars which I found very informative and useful.”

“I found the course to be worthwhile and challenging. I learned a great deal as well. I did have to use many outside sources of information to complete some of the assignments. I thought that information should’ve been more readily available within the course itself. Great tutor support. Would recommend to others for certain.”

“Generally very good. Some minor technical matters (which I have seen are noted in the blog but don't seem to be fixed). I would have really liked a video of a large class teaching session. The videos of the younger learners lessons I did not think were good. They were bored (Ok it was probably a very artificial lesson), but the entire lesson felt like how not to do it - the same activity went on and on. Felt sorry for them. Also, all the videos were generally with those with already reasonable English. Other than the video showing how to teach total beginners Spanish (which was great fun) I would have liked something on teaching those with much less English. Bit of gap here I think. Also, the section on the 'schwa' sound totally threw me. I had no idea what it was. Should have been classic for a video or at least something to sound out what it actually is - but nothing. All we got was some written words, and I could not identify what was the common sound in them. So I have no idea what this was about at all - or its relevance. Was not happy with that. On the assignments, the longer ones had word limits of 600, which did not really allow for what was being asked for. I spent longer trying to reduce the word count than doing the assignment. On one assignment, in the large classes one I think (quiz form) I did not agree at all with the answers, and wondered if there was an error. I just selected the ones that were wanted in the end, but I really did feel they were wrong. On the grammar, have to say that the names for tenses are much more complicated than when I originally learnt tenses. To me it seems that they confuse and have overcomplicated names - I got confused myself. I don't know if this is standard, or if it is your own approach. Happy to provide more feedback then here if helpful as to me it makes things very difficult for the students. But overall a good course, and I liked the mixed delivery approach. Thank you”

“Honestly, this was one of the worst experiences of my life. I would never recommend this course to anyone. I did not feel supported by my tutor Denise, I actually felt that my tutor was cold and very rude. Not a welcoming or warm environment at all, I had to reach out to introduce myself to her and her emails were not very kind but frosty. Not the way a student should be greeted, no “thanks for your email” or “I hope you are well. Regarding your email inquiry” – nothing like that. I got a “Hi” (no name) and rude answers. I felt I was continuously failed unjustifiably because my assignments weren't perfect and exactly the way she wanted them worded. Any minor error, failed. I’m not saying I didn’t deserve a failing grade for some units, of course I did – I’m a student and I’m learning. However, I did feel that I was failed repeatedly (and joyously so) by Denise with little support/encouragement. When I asked Denise if we could speak to clarify (since it was extremely difficult to dissect/understand the written feedback) the answer was no. I feel the feedback I received from my tutor wasn't consistent, it changed during the attempts and was very long running. I had to sit and dissect the information I needed to make the changes only to fail and be told I’m wrong (making me feel stupid). I felt I was shamed for not dissecting her unclear feedback to her standards. Setting a limit of 3 attempts is extremely discouraging to any student, especially when they are being made to feel foolish for not knowing exactly what is needed/expected to pass. I feel the grading practices are not clear, no information shared on the grading structure/requirements to pass. This seems unethical as this is common practice in academia to share this information. I spent 25+ hours on one assignment, 7am to 7pm, (multiple days) going through each word & paragraph meticulously to get it exactly the way I thought my tutor wanted it only to be failed - repeatedly. I had a full-on panic attack and cried nonstop feeling like a complete idiot since I couldn't pass and was trying my absolute hardest. I watched the videos, I took notes, I watched/re-watched. I knew the material. Still, constant failing, discouragement and being made to feel like I’m an idiot for not getting things perfectly done in 3 attempts. Students have different learning styles and different ways of communication and I feel that isn’t acknowledged or valued in this course. Overall, terrible experience. My tutor Denise was rude/cold/unsupportive. I don't feel like this course encourages students but rather sets the expectation that students should be perfect and know everything from watching short videos. It's completely unrealistic and can potentially put students off learning.”

“This course was an amazing experience. I took it as I have become interested in becoming a teacher over the last few years of my undergrad then had the interest to teach abroad after I complete teachers college. I am not enrolled in concurrent education and so my knowledge about teaching was quite minimal. This course taught me so much, it was thorough and well organized and my tutor gave amazing feedback. All the assignments were very manageable as well was the course as a whole. The feedback from my tutor was always honest, constructive and encouraging even when I did not pass assignments the first time. They helped make clear as to what I needed to improve on as to help me understand where I went wrong and improve from my mistakes. I am so happy I decided to take the course and I am incredibly excited for what possibilities await me! I took the 120 hour course, I definitely recommend. And in the future, if there are more in depth courses that cater to my teaching area of interest I will be sure to take them!”
