Honestly, this was one of the worst experiences of my life. I would never recommend this course to anyone. I did not feel supported by my tutor Denise, I actually felt that my tutor was cold and very rude. Not a welcoming or warm environment at all, I had to reach out to introduce myself to her and her emails were not very kind but frosty. Not the way a student should be greeted, no “thanks for your email” or “I hope you are well. Regarding your email inquiry” – nothing like that. I got a “Hi” (no name) and rude answers. I felt I was continuously failed unjustifiably because my assignments weren't perfect and exactly the way she wanted them worded. Any minor error, failed. I’m not saying I didn’t deserve a failing grade for some units, of course I did – I’m a student and I’m learning. However, I did feel that I was failed repeatedly (and joyously so) by Denise with little support/encouragement. When I asked Denise if we could speak to clarify (since it was extremely difficult to dissect/understand the written feedback) the answer was no. I feel the feedback I received from my tutor wasn't consistent, it changed during the attempts and was very long running. I had to sit and dissect the information I needed to make the changes only to fail and be told I’m wrong (making me feel stupid). I felt I was shamed for not dissecting her unclear feedback to her standards. Setting a limit of 3 attempts is extremely discouraging to any student, especially when they are being made to feel foolish for not knowing exactly what is needed/expected to pass. I feel the grading practices are not clear, no information shared on the grading structure/requirements to pass. This seems unethical as this is common practice in academia to share this information. I spent 25+ hours on one assignment, 7am to 7pm, (multiple days) going through each word & paragraph meticulously to get it exactly the way I thought my tutor wanted it only to be failed - repeatedly. I had a full-on panic attack and cried nonstop feeling like a complete idiot since I couldn't pass and was trying my absolute hardest. I watched the videos, I took notes, I watched/re-watched. I knew the material. Still, constant failing, discouragement and being made to feel like I’m an idiot for not getting things perfectly done in 3 attempts. Students have different learning styles and different ways of communication and I feel that isn’t acknowledged or valued in this course. Overall, terrible experience. My tutor Denise was rude/cold/unsupportive. I don't feel like this course encourages students but rather sets the expectation that students should be perfect and know everything from watching short videos. It's completely unrealistic and can potentially put students off learning.

I think there are into just making money instead of providing TEFL certified teachers jobs. They are constantly pitching you to buy more courses and Franchises instead of providing jobs links. You complete a course and they do not issue a cerificate instead ask you to purchase the course again despite give a lifetime of usage. They say that do not care about bad reviews. TEFL Support Tue, May 16, 11:02 AM (4 days ago) to me Hi and thank you for your email. We will not be treatened by bad reviews.

Could not follow up nor exploit some group's success. In the end, what was a initial salesy promotion from a excitable inexperienced phone chat morphed deep disappointment that reflected on the others, who provided a first class online program.

Misleading mature candidates thinking of a new career at the outset. Young flaky Promoters of tefl.org where only interested in getting you on board. Dishonest when questioned about age and gender on phone, I was badly mislead. At post graduation, again I was over-looked by the industry I suspect because of my gender as male and age and even perhaps my accent made me target. How does a male with a non local accent secure employment in his retirement. As an ELF in a female industry after two courses with Tefl.org almost two years later and despite their promises, age was not a barrier along with gender. I have discovered it very much is a barrier. Tefl.org have never shown any support. I'm done spinning my wheels. I would advise all seasoned males think carefully if this is a career at retirement to remain busy. This is the worse case scenario of this more subtle form of prejudice in my view, while no sources exist in the UK to prevent it. Never received a refund nor any follow-up in finding employment. A real sense of indifference is felt from this company and its not like they are unaware of my dissatisfaction or predicament.

Poorly structured course, the video course should be integrated with the methodology course. I didn’t feel supported nor do I feel like this course prepared me for my current position teaching English.

Thank you for your feedback, Kristina. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. This is certainly unusual as you will see we normally receive excellent feedback on the structure of our courses. We also train thousands of students a year who go on to live and work abroad successfully with their TEFL.Org certificate. All students are assigned a tutor who can help support them through the course as well. You would have been able to contact your tutor at any time you needed help with your course. We also support our students with writing their TEFL CV, as well as grant lifelong access to our TEFL Org Jobcentre, where you will be able to exclusively access many TEFL positions both internationally and online. We also encourage an active Facebook and forum community, which include weekly webinars, blogs and a podcast. We will certainly take your feedback on board, but please feel free to reach out to info@tefl.org with any further comments, concerns, or suggestions you wish to share.

I was deeply disappointed by the quality of information given. Some of the course material was somewhat useful but it was accompanied by a deluge of unhelpful dross. Most frustrating was the realisation that despite having paid a good deal of money for the course they try to grift you for more money at every turn. Having taken the course, I do not feel better prepared to teach at all.

Hi Daniel, Thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not of the quality you expected. Normally we receive excellent reviews for our courses, so I will certainly pass on your feedback. Our Level 5 courses are regulated by Ofqual, so you can be sure they are of a high standard. The tutors have to ensure these standards are met with every assignment marked. I am unsure what you mean by us taking more money however. Once a student enrolls on a course with us there is no further payments required. The full details of the courses and their time frames are clearly advertised on our website. Please feel free to reach out to info@tefl.org with any further comments on this and we can look into this further. We wish you the very best of luck in your TEFL journey!

I am very frustrated as my credit card was charged for US47 and I didn't sign up for any more course. I have reached out by email and keep getting response to check with bank and the evidence was sent to you. I tried calling the # only to hear that no one is available to speak with me. You are so dishonest but I am going to take this further if not addressed promptly.

Hi, I am very sorry to hear that you have had an unauthorised charge taken from you. It has certainly not been taken by us here at TEFL Org as we would never take unauthorised payments from our students. We also do not store our student's card details after a course has been purchased. We have also searched for your details but cannot find you having purchased a course with us before. I can see however, that you got in touch with us over live chat and my colleague has helped you find out that this was a completely different company who are not associated with us here at TEFL Org.

It's a good course. I bought the 120 hours TEFL course - they have 50-60% discount promo (but only for courses) that kicks in immediately once the previous discount expires - essentially it's always priced 50% of the "current price", and admittedly it gives 6 months to complete it. I could not complete it in 6 months due to severe issues irl, so I opted to buy an extension. Which costs $70. For a month-long extension. The course itself is ~265 USD. Having a long completion time is not an excuse to skin people alive with an insanely overpriced extension. Similarly, having this written in your Terms of Service, is, again, not an excuse to skin people alive. I'm in the middle of the course so it's either losing the course and progress or paying up. I paid their ransom, I'm not a happy customer. Thank you, TEFL.org

Hi, Thank you for your review. We are happy to see that you enjoyed our course. As you confirmed, we do clearly state the time frame for this course as 6 months. We also provide extensions to enable students to have flexibility when completing the course. We certainly try to support our students as much as possible, so please feel free to get in touch with our customer service team who will be happy to look into your feedback further. In the meantime, thank you again for your review.

We do also ensure that our refund policy is clearly shown on our Terms and Conditions page. Terrible, inflexible customer service. I believe they misrepresented the pricing: I purchased the online teaching bundle along with the the practical course at £150, believing that the offer was limited for a few days as stated by them. I later realised it’s an ongoing scam as it’s the normal price. Otherwise I would have bought the courses separately. Due to personal reasons, I extended the theory element and was charged £ 45. When I tried to change dates for the practical, I was told it would be a further £40. I find this unacceptable as the course was already paid for. Not impressed at all. Check T&Cs carefully before paying anything to this company.

Hi Sarah, Thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear how you feel about our course. We can assure you that we are not a scam company and, like all TEFL course providers, we review our sales often. These can indeed be extended or changed depending on the TEFL market. This is certainly not unique to us here at The TEFL Org. We do also provide a time frame for all our online courses which we highlight within each course page. These can be extended if needed, as you have mentioned. To ensure all of our students have an equal chance to attend one of our busy virtual teaching practices, we do highlight the time frame required to make changes to these classes. Changes can be made free of charge if we are given more than 14-days notice. We appreciate your review highlighting how important it is to consider terms and conditions of a product before purchase. Thank you again for your review and we wish you the best of luck with your course.

I applied for a non-teaching job at an English school accredited by The British Council. They told me that the TEFL.org certificate is a waste of time as no properly accredited school in the UK would accept it. Waste of money.

I can’t understand why my TEFL certificate doesn’t look professional and can’t be checked anywhere else except the tefl.org website. I’ve read that people can check their certificates on the website of Training Qualifications UK. This organisation was mentioned on your website in the “accreditation” section. As the appearance of my certificate and accreditations were the most important for me, I’m not satisfied with the “document” I have. It doesn’t even have a signet.

Hi Dariia, Thank you for your review. It is only our Level 5 courses that can be checked with TQUK, as these are Ofqual accredited. This information is certainly detailed on our website. The 120-hour Premier TEFL course that you completed is not a Level 5 course I'm afraid. I can also see that you have not requested the hard copy as yet, so you only have the downloadable PDF copy for the moment. Once you request the hard copy you will receive a high quality paper certificate which includes watermark and hologram. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I wrote you a review when I finished my last course. Please stop hassling me, incessant emails when you couldn't even manage to send me an email to warn me that my course was ending. I will never do another course with TEFL.org again as the last one was a total waste of money, I only did it to fulfill my continuing professional development obligations

Hi Isabella, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that your experience at TEFL Org didn’t match your expectations. The request for a review is sent near the end of each course that you have enrolled in. I can see you have 3 courses with us, so you may receive another. Please feel free to ignore this request if you wish. The expiry date of your course is visible on your account but we can also certainly send reminders if you choose this. I can see that did not request to be on this mailing list, so this will be why you hadn't received an expiry reminder. Again, thank you for your feedback.

I felt that the two assessors were not very supportive. They were very keen to give me feedback, however, not in a very supportive way. The last person has not even said congratulations. Maybe they are far too busy. But I now have my qualification, thanks to the support of my colleagues at the academy I work at.

Sorry, but it was really not up to par. A teacher is supposed to know / be tested of way different things. Grammar was simply ridiculous. The teachibg methodology just followed one principle that is the correct was of teaching according to you, but there are countless studies proving that teaching is not like you claimed. It looks way different in practice and there are several working methods & schools of thought. I don't want to write an essay here but I wrote my thesis in a language pedagogy related topic, so I know very well this course presented a bit of a, well how to put it, narrow-minded approach
