“This course was everything I hoped for and more. The content was easy to navigate in short and informative portions. The assessments were well thought out and the advice given in order to complete them very informative and helpful. The website was really well organised too. “I really enjoyed the videos on the different lesson structures. I thought in the beginning that they were a bit long, but after finishing the whole course…and looking back, I came to appreciate the whole length of the course and the videos. It gave a realistic idea how a teacher and the class functions. I liked it when the videos showed how it should NOT be done. Even though I never worked as a teacher it gave me an idea where and how I should start teaching. I’ll probably never teach a large class, since I’m not a native speaker. All in all, I can truly say, that if I had a teacher using the tefl.org teaching method, I would have loved to learn English in school! I learned most of my English when I lived in the USA for 14 years with my husband. So yes, well done and thank you for the ongoing support even though I already finished the course! “I highly recommend this course. If you are willing to study, take notes, and absorb all the content with attention and focus, you will truly have a solid foundation to teach English as a foreign language. I really enjoyed learning the methodology of teaching English and the brush up on grammar in the grammar course was essential to getting the basics right. There is a ton of great material in this course that will benefit you into your teaching. Plus, I was able to get through it in the time without issues, even around other heavy demands on my time, and a month-long family medical emergency. The only thing I would like to say is that the assignments are somewhat demanding and cannot be breezed through. You need to learn the material and understand it thoroughly to pass. If English is not your first language and you are looking for an "easy side hustle" I don't recommend trying to do this. This is for people who are native speakers of the language. Users of the forum who are not native English speakers struggled to do this course, and many quit.”

“The course is well-designed and organized. The flow is sequential and logical which is helpful. However, the videos are often boring and lack much dynamism which probably means that people skip them. The word "learnt" is not correct English outside of the UK and should be changed or removed from these lessons. My tutor seemed like a knowledgable person, but his feedback was often discouraging and sometimes unhelpful. I did not feel supported based on Alex's feedback and that I was just an assignment that needed grading. When I contacted him via message, he did not look up my work and instead told me he can't remember everyone's submission--fair enough, so look it up! None of the messages were linked to my submission which means that he might not remember what he told me outside the platform which was potentially problematic. I have taught college students online for more than 15 years and I think TELF.org's approach could be improved when it comes to delivering content for online learners. Perhaps a greater understanding of androgogy would be helpful. Good luck and thanks for a course that allowed me to meet my goal of getting the TEFL cert.”

“Great experience, highly recommend it to anyone looking. It's not that hard, takes a bit of time and effort but is definitely worth it in the end. Information was presented in a very digestible way and I found myself constantly involved and entertained, besides learning a thing or two, of course. Regardless of how well you paid attention in school, you will definitely find smth new here. Thank you to TEFL team and course superstars - Brian, Kelsey, Kirsty, Joe, Asif, my tutor Alex, I'm sure I forgot someone, apologies for that, oh yeah, that lady from Demonstration videos, very classy and stylish, don't recall her name, I'm sorry, and then there was that other teacher lady from Scotland, Caroline or Catherine, again, my bad... “I did the 140 hour course. I thought the online course was very comprehensive with many example videos to help see demonstrations of everything. I thought that some of the multiple choice questions didn't really test my understanding of how to teach. However they were well structured for testing knowledge of grammar. I thought the in-person classes were also very useful to see more demonstrations and ask any questions I had - I am better at learning via demonstrations in person so this was worth doing.”

“I found the course difficult to navigate, what I mean is that the direction of completion is not set out, I received 5 units and proceeded as the order they seemed to me. I started with Grammar first but questioned this later. I found the structure where videos mixed with written slides hard to follow, the classroom lessons were inaudible where the students were concerned, I am aware that the commentry was available however trying to read this and watch the lesson was difficult. Also the downloaded course was in PDF format and for me for future reference this is a bad choise as the content is long and the use of word find is removed when PDF is used. This content should be in a Word document so the client who has paid for this material can easily access quickly via word search what they are looking for. Also when I was submitting written assignments, specifically from the marked sections the content was lost on a 600 word assignment when I submitted, the tutor later said I have to use a seperate document to complete the assignment and copy/paste into the provided section. This was massively fustrating as two were lost and one that was successful, the tutor only received half of my written content. Also the quizzes in the Grammar section were hit and miss with answers that I thought were wrong, backed up by the forum dialogs. On the subject of Tutors, Dee, (Denise) was very helpful however others were not. I found the length of time for markings was too long, if like me clients cannot proceed without marked content this is indeed fustrating. The forum is not very good either as blank commentry is not possible only replying.”

Thank you for your suggestion regarding using Word for downloading course material, however as PDF cannot be edited we find this a more secure and efficient way to deliver course material to all students. We're sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with submitting your assignments; we do recommend that students ensure they keep a copy of their course work before submitting. This ensures if there are any system or wifi issues they will always have a copy saved. While it’s great to hear that Dee was a helpful tutor, we understand your concerns regarding timely feedback from other tutors. We have found that the 48-hour time frame is more efficient to enable tutors to mark all their student's course work in a detailed and timely manner. Thank you again for your constructive comments.
