“I really enjoyed the course. I learnt a lot of things about grammar that I had always worried I wasn’t doing right when writing. I feel I have learnt a lot of new information and feel confident I could teach a class.”

“I am delighted to have completed the TEFL Course. It is very useful in many respects, especially as I do not have a teaching background. I teach small classes on-line since the pandemic. My students are refugees from various countries. Th course helps me to structure the class more effectively. I for sure learned that PPP is critical to a successful lesson! It might be worthwhile to update the online (telephone!) training section a bit to reflect the "new" post Covid world, where teaching online (in my case using ZOOM) has become so prevelant. “Training through TEFL.org was a wonderful experience! My tutor gave me wonderful feedback. The study videos and transcripts were engaging and helped me learn the materials. The quizzes helped me to demonstrate what I knew plus helped me identify areas I needed to review. And the assignments helped me to put what I had learned into practice. The program was very well developed and I feel prepared to step into a classroom.”

“The program was easy enough to follow however the Methodology course was very confusing. I feel that the course was not explained well and the answers to the test questions were not available within the text, as asked. Throughout the course, it seemed that examples were vague and meant to confuse, therefore causing repeated reviews and attempts at the testing. It was as if they did not want you to succeed. I found grammar errors and miss spelled words throughout the course and in the tests. Granted some of these are due to American English vs UK English. I feel that the course went to extremes when it came to grammar structure. I am an American with a BA degree in Education, and a Master's in Business and there were things in this course that I had never seen. Not that it was incorrect but it was to the extreme when teaching English.”

Hi Sue, Thanks for sharing your review with us. There are certainly many differences between American English and British English. We therefore provide both versions for our 120-hour course depending on the students requirements. Our courses are designed by TEFL teachers who have decades of experience, so they know what is needed to teach around the world and/or online to EFL students. Although we know qualified teachers have no issues completing the course, ESL does have certain nuances, that you may not necessarily have covered in your other teaching/studying. Your feedback is very much appreciated as this helps us to improve our courses further. We wish you the very best of luck in your TEFL journey!

“The course material was good overall, the pacing for the most part is decent, and quizzes are slipped in throughout the course so you have to stay reasonably engaged. The feedback I got for my assignments was generally pretty good and helpful, too. A few bits of negative feedback: the quizzes are too easy. Often the answers are extremely obvious, and there a very clear 'bait' options on the multiple choice questions (meaning as answer which is obviously not the right one). I felt that it would be pretty easy to pass most of the quizzes even if you hadn't watched any of the videos. With the true/false quizzes, it's virtually impossible not to pass as you can retry them and see which ones you got wrong - so you just pick the other option. So there is a 100% chance of passing on attempt 2. I also felt that the methodology course could go into more detail about free vs controlled activities. I often had assignments failed because my production activities were not free enough, and I couldn't really find anything helpful in the course material to come up with more free activities. Finally, in some of the videos one of the actors consistently mispronounces the word 'pronunciation' (they say 'pronounciation'). There is a certain irony to this and it grated me a bit every time I heard it.”

Hi Matthew, Thank you so much for the great review! For our quizzes, these are more of a revision tool, to ensure you have understood the written material. The assignments that you had to complete are where you are assessed. Your feedback regarding the Methodology Course is very much appreciated, as this helps us to improve our courses further. Some words might be pronounced differently on the videos, with so many different accents across the UK this is certainly normal. Thanks again and all the best with your TEFL career!

“I thoroughly enjoyed my TEFL course. It was well thought out, the educational content was also super engaging. Alan was my tutor, I haven’t a negative thing to say about my experience with him. “As a person who started as an ALT in Japan, I think the points that the TEFL course covered were great. A lot of the better positions are looking for teachers who hold a certificate so getting it was a choice that I'm glad I have made.”

“Generally very good, covered a lit if useful topics, assignments were reasonably challenging and useful, feedback was quick and helpful. There is a technical issue where sometimes the next button takes you to the main course page instead. This happened quite a lot so could be worth looking into. Also typing answers in quizes can be a bit awkward, I got one wrong multiple times because I had an extra space that I didn't see.”
