“This course is poorly designed for users from the US. The zoom virtual meeting were limited and during the middle of the night for US time zone. There were only a few options to chose from and none accommodated the US time. Also the zoom classes were hours long which was overwhelming given the amount of material needed to do and learn. Overall, the module assignments were graded by an online tutor who gives feedback yet you cannot ask or reply to them.”

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your experience with The TEFL Org. We certainly have our Zoom virtual meetings at all times throughout the day and night, so as to accommodate our students all over the world. These can be chosen by the student at any time throughout their online course. It is also not essential to have completed your full course before attending the Zoom sessions, but these sessions can also be attended after your online course expires if preferred - we always leave this choice up to the student. Regarding the module assignments, we appreciate your recognition of the feedback provided by our online tutors. However, you will have received an email from your tutor when you first signed up detailing their direct contact details. So you could certainly have reached out to them direct at any time. “The course was honestly better than I expected, it tried to utilize active learning principles by have interactive activities throughout the lessons and covered a more student-centric way of teaching. I found the organization of the lessons somewhat haphazard; especially the grammar course. For me the concepts didn't flow nicely together rather it felt like a bit a whiplash going back and forth between concepts. The observation course was also good, but I think it's lacking a "Medium" example. As a first-time teacher their are many mistakes that you make out of good intentions... like turning your back to your students to write on the board, not setting good expectations with students...etc. So having a medium example and an assignment to provide critiques I think would be beneficial for students. Having some sort of resource that goes more in-depth into the levels (beginner, intermediate, pre-intermediate...etc.) that identifies what they should be learning, and what they are already expected to know would be great. The lesson provided an overview but for me it's still unclear what those levels actually mean in detail and how to prepare lessons to meet each levels abilities. I also think the phone teaching course could be updated. I would probably rename it online teaching and having the phone teaching as a module within it given the popularity of online teaching especially after covid. All in all it was a good course and even though I already had a lot of experience as an educator, this course provided me with a good foundation to get started as a TEFL teacher.”

“Some lessons, like grammar, were enjoyable to learn. I already teach students, though, so some of the assignment feedback didn't make sense to me, and my thoughts differed from the tutors.”

“The course was interesting and I learned a lot of great skills from it. I actually feel more confident now in becoming an English teacher! “I thought the course was good, easy to navigate and consisted of good material. However I feel there could have more of an interaction in regards to practising the material with a tutor one on one. I don't feel confident to start teaching yet.”

“I have recently completed my 120 hour TEFL course and I would highly recommend for anyone interested in starting teaching English as a foreign language. Each module was very informative, and the heavier grammar modules were interesting and kept me motivated. “TEFL.org provides a fairly efficient and easy-to-grasp course, with a variety of content and a tonne of useful information. With a fair amount of videos and quizzes, the assignments are varied and kept interesting, hopefully keeping the student motivated to continue with each course. Some of the courses may feel a little drawn out or repetitive, but TEFL.org combats this by providing great support from the tutors.”
