Terrible customer service. You can't contact them directly via phone. They will not help you if you have to change plans. The essence of the travel industry is to make the customer feel secure and welcome. This is not the case here. I had to leave my rental place early, I told them about this, they did not even respond to me! They also give you ridiculous exit commands.

I booked a holiday and they emailed the receipt. They have also charged my credit card account. I tried to get into the booking to amend it, but they say there is no booking Tried to contact by email, telephone, WhatsApp app, but can’t get a response from either. I have been into the Sykes wed page , logged into my account, the booking is not there, so use the find my booking but and the same result. No booking. With this awful company you are in a catch 22 situation Avoid like the plague If I could give a negative feedback then I would.

Booked to stay for 3 nights in March at a cottage in Dorset. When we arrived at 4pm the cottage was freezing. We then realised there was no heating in the bedroom, and only a small fan heater in the double height kitchen/living room. We called the owner ( who lived next door) and he explained he did not normally let out the cottage in winter. We explained we could not stay as the cottage was so cold and without heating would not warm. Called Sykes who said it was nothing to do with them we had to resolve it with the owner. I said we had paid £366 to Sykes and since the cottage was not fit for purpose we wanted a refund. Again they said it was down to the owner. I have since written a fair review explaining our situation and it has not been published. We will never book with Sykes

Terrible customer service No response , totally ignoring us to sort out faulty dishwasher . This was the one of the main reasons booking this place -to have a dishwasher 😤

Price charged at point of booking was different from the one on website. Booking agent explained they use dynamic pricing algorithm whereby they change the price if there is interest in it. Unbelievable. Never book with them

We have been with Sykes several times. We have had to contact them on occasions and had to recently. The person we spoke to had an American accent. This guy sounded like he could not be bothered. He sighed several times during our conversation and said he would get back to us. He never did! The last time we had to contact Sykes, we spoke with a person who was argumentative and would not listen to the reason we wanted to make alterations to our booking. She sounded like a spoilt child when in conversation and would not look at our point of view. She just repeated herself like she was trained in this abrupt manner.. Sykes may be a large organisation but attitudes like we experienced will gradually lead to people going elsewhere, like we have. STAY CLEAR OF SYKES, unless you enjoy talking to people with a ‘can’t be bothered’ arrogant attitude!

Shocking Customer Care Changes were made to the property eight months prior to my stay. Sykes admitted that they should have informed me and offered some reimbursement which I accepted. I was told I would be paid within 3-5 days. That was four weeks ago. They have not replied to my messages apart from a standard message. I wish I had checked reviews before booking.

Stayed in one of Sykes Cottages properties. Issue over water leaking onto the bathroom floor. Marred the 4 night stay. Reported this to Sykes on our return. Chased up 2 months later and they had not even contacted the property owner. A further 2 months down the line and they cannot even be bothered to reply to my letter. They are not interested in their customers. They just want your money. DISGRACEFUL.

Sykes cottages disgraceful customer service.... 2.cottages not checked and filthy!!! Refund refused as my husband needs a heart operation so need to cancel one cottage and they couldnt care less!!! I will never book with this company again beware!!!!!

Awful company to deal with, they have no idea about customer service. Happy to take your money but totally give you the run around when you complain. First emailed our complaint on 18th Dec.....still awaiting a resolution. I've called numerous times only to be told " we are waiting for the owners response"

Rented riverbank in Grasmere Lake District after new year. Place was disgusting, damp, full of condensation black around windows, lounge only had seating for 3 people not 4 and it was dirty and broken. I’m asthmatic so we had to vacate the next day it was making me ill. We rented a different place with Sykes but they sent housekeepers round to check our issues and they agreed with us. Sykes now refusing compensation saying it’s owners responsibility and I need a solicitor/third party to claim against owners insurance.

Booked with Sykes, no customer care to speak of despite using their App, email and telephone calls. I reported the following to them, we paid £1300 for a week in the Lake District Christmas 2024. Very disappointed with our stay at Eribel Cottage, Threlkeld. Property is in need of deep clean, previous reviews mention this. Heating thermostats were not working correctly, so heating was hit and miss, also previous reviews report this. Television is not Smart, nor does Netflix play and again previous review on this. So why have these not been rectified? Reported to Sykes whilst there and been home 2.5 weeks and 3 calls to them. These issues have not been addressed. Finally offered £100 compensation, which I declined. I won't book again with Sykes. This property is not as advertised by them.

We booked a long weekend in Porlock. Unfortunately we had to come home early due to a power outage in the storm, which left without heating, lighting and anyway to cook. We had taken out the recommended insurance through Sykes. We phoned Sykes the very next day and explained what had happened. The insurance wasn't fit for purpose and refused to pay out. The policy was aimed more at foreign holidays not domestic stays. So we contacted Sykes by email to see what they could do, they told us we had left it too late... we explained we contacted them the very next day, it's been over a week and they still haven't responded. Property booked for a 50th birthday celebration and cancelled with less than a weeks notice. They made very little effort to help us find an alternative and in the end we had to cancel. Unhelpful and poor attitude, will ever use again.

I had to cancel a booking with Sykes Cottages due to an error on the property description which meant that the property was not suitable for our group, and it was extremely difficult to communicate with anyone at Sykes. When I was finally able to contact someone I was promised a full refund in "3-5 working days". After waiting, and waiting, and waiting... I finally got their attention by disputing the transaction with my credit card company. Two months passed before they sent a refund, and by that time the exchange rate had changed so much that the refund I received was significantly less that the original charge, so I ended up paying for their error. Do a bit of Googling to see other reviews, and think long and hard before you book anything through Sykes Cottages.
