“Setting-up a Savings Bond on-line was quick and easy as was the transfer of funds. A very slight hiccup to this process was experienced as regards the precise details of one of the forms identity required before an account could be opened, but this was quickly resolved by staff via E-Mail. Otherwise, all plain sailing. There is just one niggling minor point regarding E-mail letter correspondence . . . the mail-merge programme used picks up both my Christain name and middle name in the composition of the opening greeting i.e. Dear + . The usual convention in the UK being to use only the person's Christain name or the surname or both together . . never the middle name. I have seen this issue occurring with other on-line service providers and believe it arises from the use of "Off-the-shelf" software which makes no provision for recording middle names in a separate data field in the customer database. I have already advised Shepherds of this issue.”
