My opinion, not the right foam to use in a toolbox. To soft and rips really easy. Fast shipping and good service though. Just wish they had more options

The material is actually designed not to peel easily at the layer point - this is intentional, to give it durability and strength that will last a long time. We have lots of guides on our website to help get you up and running with the best methods for using the material, the team will send you a link to them so you can review the optimum methods for best results. Not a fan to be honest. Even with the brand new scalpel it tore rather than cut. I was hoping to do all three of my rollcabs but after doing just one drawer I’ve changed my mind.

I am a little disapointed in the shape and size of the piece of foam I received, I was expecting 1000 x 500 mm, the piece sent to me was 990 x 490, tapering down to 480, so the piece wasn't even square, (as in an equal sided rectangle). I was hoping to fully utilise the whole 500mm of its width but I have now had to comprimise on one of the draws and not have it as a perfect fit. I would have complained prior to its use but I didn't notice until I had cut one of the pieces at 300mm. I work in the manufacturing sector, mainly 1st and 2nd tier automotive parts, everything we purchase as a raw material is usally slightly oversize and never undersize, even if you don't class this as a raw material it should at least be the size as avertised and sold. If this is normal for all of your product then it should be avertised as such, and if it does say somewhere in the small print on your website that there is a size difference in what you buy and what you get it's obviously burried deep in the small print as I never came across it. I won't be buying any more or recommending it to anyone I know. It's a shame really as it's a clever product that has loads of potential, it's a shame you feel the need to reduce the size so close to the avertised size just to save a few pence, but in doing so have ended up with a bad review and no further business. Also, don't get me started on the mess Parcel Force made of delivering it, not your problem I know but the person I emailed from your company could have been a little more helpful and courteous.

Hi Carl, Thanks for your review. I am very sorry that you had issues with Parcelforce, our customer service manager was in touch with you to explain that it had been delivered to a local Post Office ready for you to collect, and that was the end of your correspondence with us. However, we have had no indication that there were any issues with your order itself. We would be more than happy to replace any damaged or undersized sheets. This is clearly a manufacturing error on our part, but unless we are made aware of these issues, we cannot resolve them. Not as nice as the soft dense foam that I would have preferred. Shadow foam is more like packing foam rather than what I expected .

Well it took a while to get it had to Tex u twice finally I got it! Was not happy of what u sent me, 3” thick, I really wanted a piece that the wrenches hold. I paid 20.00 for something that I didn’t want to see. I c on your site u have a special 3/pieces & 5.99 each this is what I really wanted. I could of had 3 of these pieces of the cost that I paid for what I got. Not a way to attract new customers! Thanks anyway! Charlie

Hi Charlie Sorry to hear you aren't happy with the sample you got from us. There was no note on there of any depth or colour preference so these are sent randomly just to give you an idea of the quality of the foam. I should mention though that we don't have any depth option that is 3" deep - our foam comes in 3 depths - 1.2", 2" and 2.75" but if you check out our Youtube channel we've lots of guides and ideas for layering up the foam to achieve greater depths. We did get your message about having been billed for the import of the sample - that's usual when importing goods and beyond our influence I'm sorry. But hopefully the tracking information you got helped you track your sample's progress from there... unfortunately it does take a few days to ship from the UK to the US, but I'm pleased it reached you OK. It's worth noting that the sample cost only a small amount, it was the shipping you selected to get it to you which cost more, again we do apologise but it's totally out of our hands. They have spammed me with offers and reviews despite me not signing up for any of them I have even asked them to remove my data and information under Article 17 of the GDPR "Under Article 17 of the UK GDPR individuals have the right to have personal data erased" Clearly, they are ignorant and disregard people's rights and information. Today I have been sent 2 more emails from them. So I would not recommend this company unless you wish to have your information and rights neglected and used in ways you do not want. The emails and requests to them will now be forwarded to the ICO to investigate.

Hi Andrew Really sorry to hear this, however worryingly we have never received either of the two emails you mention have sent to us - please can you forward them to us at hello@shadowfoam.com where we aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day. Just to mention though, we haven't intended to "spam you" at all, it's just not how we work. Nor are we ignorant to people's rights and information - rather, we pride ourselves on our levels of customer care and service. I should mention, you did sign up to our mailing list to receive a discount code on 14.11.23. This discount code was then redeemed by you. Then, as you were subscribed to the mailing list at that point, we subsequently sent you one more email on 24.11.23 which was our Black Friday offer. This was sent only to anyone opted in to our mailing list. Any other communications you may have received from us just related to the order you placed. Our opted into emails are always sent in a fully GSPR compliant way, and you are welcome to unsubscribe at any point, which we have now seen you've done. The issues I have are mainly with shipping, which has been a terrible experience. I had to wait for a long time before the Shadow Foam arrived, and on arrival it turned out the blades were missing. The missing blades were sent by you, but in order to receive them I have to pay taxes and an administration fee to the parcel service. Next time I will look for foam from a local vendor to save me this hassle.

Well, delivery was awful, I understand you had delays and that’s fine, but from the email saying dispatched and me receiving the foam was almost a week (even when it said next day shipping) the foam itself isn’t great, in my opinion it feels cheap

Hello, I was expecting something easier to mould to our needs. The foam was very hard to cut into (even with a scalpel) and the different layers of foam were extremely hard to separate from each other. Thanks, Carlos

I used Shadow foam because I like to try and use the best on anything on the market however after using the 1st couple of sheets from a pack of 5 I found the rest to be covered in bubbles and unusable which was really disappointing. After being told by Shadow foam to “turn them up side down and use them” (which means it would have been red instead of black) not what I paid for or the look I wanted. All I wanted to do was return those sheets and get a refund on the 3 sheets I’ve now put in the bin (I wasn’t that impressed by the product so I didn’t want a replacement). They gave me a 30% refund and basically said we’ve done everything we can which left me disappointed with the product and their customer service, I definitely won’t be using or recommending again which is a shame.

Hi Kenton Really sorry you feel this way, but we did offer you the opportunity to return everything to us for an exchange. As you know we didn't have the colour you wanted in stock at the time so couldn't have replaced it, but you declined both a replacement in a different colour and a replacement in a different size sheet. It was only some time later that you came back again and advised that you had already used much of the foam and asked to just return what was left from the pack and get a refund. We can't accept back part-orders or split packs hence our suggestion for to you to try using the other side of the foam to try and come up with something that was going to work for you. We can only accept returns in their original, unused condition which I'm sure you'll appreciate and which is in line with most other retailers. Not the best , foam is glued together making cutting out very difficult, the overall finish , was not what I expected, i took my time , measured my items , used decent knife and tools , but tearing the foam out was very difficult and the end result looked messy,

Looks like a great product but disappointing service from Shadow Foam. Their website states 'fast and free delivery' and their order confirmation said 'next day delivery'. Several days later the goods still aren't here and I'm told it will several more days before they arrive. Apparently there was a note on their website about workload delays but it wasn't obvious. I don't know what is difficult about shipping out bits of foam?! Their website is also lacking, the basket/checkout didn't work and it took about 8-10 attempts and a long phone call to sort it, and they couldn't take my order over the phone which would have been the obvious solution. I guess they have a good product, but their site and operations/admin functions seem unprofessional and lacking. This is reinforced by the fact it is not a https secure site, so buyers need to be aware of this. If they nail these issues and up their game then this company can go places.

As you can imagine we had a large backlog of orders over the holiday period and so are a little we behind on orders. For this reason, we have a large banner at the top of the website on every page, stating that orders may be delayed, which in the case of your order, it has been. Many apologies if you didn't spot the banner on any of the pages you visited, but hope this explains it. As for any website issues you faced, in this case, it appears likely to be clientside, as we DO have and always have had an https certificate for the website. Therein too is the reason that we wouldn't take an order over the phone; for your security. Since the payment information is of course secure on the website in a way that we can't guarantee over a phone line. Again I hope this addresses that query for you. We continually work hard to improve our web speed and checkout experience so appreciate your feedback on this too. While it is not always perfect, for a small, family-run business like ourselves, and based on the many reviews that people leave, we believe that the customer experience is typically very good - but we do of course take your comments on board. I ordered a 3pack of 50mm foam and a 5 pack of 30mm foam, with the intention to lay the pieces of foam next to each other. Unfortunately the pieces were inconsistent sizes. The 50mm boards did not have straight edges. Of the five 30mm boards, two were 20mm shorter than the other three. Felt as though I had been sent the offcuts. I would recommend purchasing the larger (more expensive) sheets and trimming down to size.

Hi Charlie Don't worry we can help with that - we all have to start somewhere! Like anything, it gets easier the more you do it. Great that you got your sample pack from us OK though, and between the scalpel and the blade that it contains along with the sample piece of foam, we have lots of tools to help you use it effectively. The product was extremely difficult to work with , layers would not separate as expected the cutting kit supplied was use less , given the price charged I would never buy this product again .

The layers aren't intended to separate on the layer points as you indicate. We advise that above and below the laminated layers is probably the easiest point to get a good peel and separation, but again the information I email you will hopefully help you with that. I'm sorry too that you didn't get along with the complimentary cutting kit we sent you with the order.... these have been really popular for many years, keeping people safe while they're cutting and giving them all they need to get great results - again I think our guides for use will be helpful for you so I'll send you more details on this too. We were really sorry to see your rating on the quality of service we offer where you have rated us with one star. I'd be particularly interested to hear more about how we have let you down in that regard. I can see that we shipped your order the very next day to the evening you ordered, and it was delivered on time the following day, with many communications and updates on your order being supplied between those times. We didn't receive any communication from you that I can see following that, to flag any issues or questions otherwise we would almost certainly have tried to help sooner. So please, if you could, do let us know how else we can improve in this regard as our customer service levels are really important to us. Expected better to be honest. I ordered the yellow base as I wanted maximum contrast and whilst the foam is OK the black top layer was very poor - very heavily textured and thin and not like the sample that I had received previously. That said I was able to make some intricate cuts in the foam after making a paper template as the surface is too dark to use a marker to draw around and I didn't fancy the "trace with a knife" approach. I had to buy 3 pieces as this was the least cost option - I will probably freecycle the other two pieces.
