It is an annual nightmare.... this year I submitted everything 4 weeks before renewal, the portal won't allow any earlier. I was contacted by an auditor a week or so after who was going through our submission and requesting information, apparantly even though we are principal contractor with Constructionline we couldn't use "deem to satisfy". Once we had gone through his hoops, we then were passed to a second auditor who started the process all over again and she wanted different things submitting than the previous auditor, in effect we were audited twice. The time it took between the second auditor requesting information then being out of office for a few days each time meant that our accreditation lapsed. Its all sorted now but each year its an epic, far over and above CHAS or Constructionline.

Hi Daniel Charles Construction Ltd, Thank you for your feedback. We truly value the insights we receive from our customers, and in response to your feedback, we've made an improvement. Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Now, we've extended that window to 60 days before expiry, giving you an additional 30 days to complete the submission. We hope this change makes a positive difference as you prepare for next year! Best regards, SafeContractor

The accreditation process is OK and effective. However the accounts team are awful. Invoices are routinely sent out months before they are due, and endless chasing phone calls and emails, have annoyed the hell out of me. Please note that these phone calls and emails take place weeks and months before the payment is due. I have no idea what their accounts team are thinking of when they do this, or indeed if they think at all.

I feel that you take the money before people really understand what the process is. It took us about a month to get everything together and we had to get a H&S person which cost us more money to help us achieve it.

Process takes way too long. It took you almost 20 working days to look at the submission. I am then told you needed a little more information that then pushed the audit back more days. It then went before an auditor and passed ok. I work with CHAS, Constructionline, RISQS, Achilles and Acclaim remotely. You are the only Company who have these time frames! I understand if I want it done quicker then I have to upgrade our package, but why would I when other accreditations offer a better service without having to pay the extra. We will look next year whether other accreditations are accepted by our Clients, I have already been told by those I've spoken to that they will accept other accreditations.

Good afternoon Alpha Electronics Southern Ltd, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Positive or negative, we do always appreciate your feedback. Congratulations on gaining your accreditation! I am sorry to hear that in this instance you felt our service fell short of your expectations. At SafeContractor we do operate a queue system owing to the volume of accounts we have to process. To counter this, we do offer a variety of packages dependant on the needs of our contractors. For example, those who are happy to wait don't need to upgrade, but for businesses where there is urgency the express package is more appropriate. As your business is on the standard package these lead times for accreditation can apply. In order to avoid delays, You can complete your questionnaire all year round and then submit 30 days before expiry. I am sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with our product, however I can assure you that we take on all feedback seriously and all comments left are read and responded to. I am more than happy to arrange a call with one of our team who might be able to talk you through how to get the most out of your accreditation. In the meantime, in addition to your accreditation you can take also advantage of some great member benefits, they can be found here - https://www.safecontractor.com/benefits/ Best Wishes, Charlotte Gibbs Senior Customer Care Advisor

Very slow annual audit and the subscription is too expensive. We only use SafeContractor because some of our clients want us to.

Thank you for leaving us a review, and congratulations on becoming SafeContractor Approved for another year. We appreciate your feedback regarding the accreditation process. We encourage our customers to select the package that best suits their business needs. Some businesses may accept a longer wait time if they don't need continuous approval, while others require a quicker response to ensure their certificate remains current and in date. I understand your frustration, but after reviewing your account, I can confirm that you received the appropriate service for your selected package. We are actively working to improve customer experience regarding our package timeframes. One of the updates we are considering is extending the submission window before expiry. I am confident that during next year's approval process, you will have a much more positive experience with this extended submission window. Best regards, Rhys Senior Customer Care Advisor

Quite a lot of supplementary information required considering that we already had ISO and an SSIP.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on being SafeContractor Approved for another year. Reviewing your account, I see that you have completed the Deemed to Satisfy process. This means your questionnaire was shortened because you have an SSIP with another provider. While this streamlines the SafeContractor process, we still require some risk profile questions tailored to your business work activities. I hope that the above information is helpful. If you require any further information about this please do not hesitate to get in touch. In addition to your accreditation you can take also advantage of some great member benefits, they can be found here - https://www.safecontractor.com/benefits/

The accreditation process is very slow. You are now given time to complete the questions asked before submitting but its often the case that your accreditation runs out before its renewed which isn't helpful when your clients expect it to be in date. Contacting SC doesn't speed things up either and i'm often left frustrated with the lack of urgency. There is a 'fast track' option for an extra financial burden which we're unwilling to pay as we feel that there's sufficient time from submitting to being accreditated.

Thank you for leaving us a review and congratulations in becoming SafeContractor Approved for another year. Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the accreditation process. We advise our customers to choose the package that best suits their business needs, some are willing to experience a longer wait time as their business may not require an approval to be active all year around, whereas others need a quicker response and need to make sure that their certificate stays in date. While I appreciate your frustrations, having reviewed your account I can see that you have received the appropriate service for the package that you are on. We are actively working on how we can improve customer experience regarding our package timeframes. One of these updates is to change the length of the submission window before expiry. I am confident that upon next year's approval journey you will have a much more positive experience, as we hope to increase the submission window. Rhys - Senior Customer Care Advisor

In the past we have experienced good communication and turn around time in the annual accreditation process. This year, however, was very diferent. Despite having all our paperwork in order and submitting in quick time, it turned out to be a long and painful process. Different auditors asking for documents that we had already uploaded wasn't encouraging and as time went on the more unorganised the transaction became. An unexpected and disappointing service I'm sorry to say.

Not a good experience as every year they keep changing our membership to express without our request and when questioning this I was told that they would change it next year as it has already been paid. I explained that I did not request the express and was told that I must of requested this. I expalined to Stephen Doobay that this has happened in the past and I have never requested this. Stephen looked back on our file and confirmed that I had raised this concern before and agreed to refund the difference. I have sent several emails to stephen requesting the paperwork to which he has ignored and never responded. I called safecontractors and am now in contract with Jessica Parfitt who emailed stephen to contact me again no reply. Jessica said that she will now look into the refund and credit note. I was also chased several times about 8 weeks before our accreditation ran out for payment. Not good practice.

We find the whole process very cumbersome where relevant documentation is uploaded and it gets rejected with minimal reason why. Something such as Policy dates should not hold up the process when the company policy is not to update every 12 months - this is not legally binding. The whole process is very transactional and could do with a more personal approach.

We've been with SafeContractor for about 12 years. The only problem we have (it's a big one) is that despite getting the questionaire completed and returned, the audit takes so long to be returned to us that our certification expires. This happens year after year and causes us issues with our clients. This year, it almost cost the loss of our biggest client which would've resulted in jobs losses!! This is completely unacceptable, your service has to improve otherwise why bother offering this service!?

I don’t understand the rationale in terms of the auditing process, we are asked to complete the online questionnaire 30 days before our certificate is about to expire, this year we had our application form filled in and back within a week and yet our new certificate wasn’t sent out until the day before our original certificate was due to expire, however we were told that if we paid an additional fee, we could get fast tracked, why not audit our application form as soon as we submit it

I found this year that Safecontractor was slow to respond to any emails and took a very long time to process my renewal. Last year I got a safecontractor card, nothing this year. Also last year I got a proper certificate, this year nothing. Not great for the cost.

Always very slow to actually accredited the qualification to the point our ceritification expires before we are recertified. My emails were also ignored and I ended up having to seek a contact out via linkedin to resolve.
