Difficult process throughout. Lot's of perfectly acceptable documents were not accepted and an lot of irrelevant information required. Expensive so have to go through the amount if rigmarole.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Many client organisations choose to work with us because SafeContractor goes beyond the 14-point core SSIP criteria to ask risk-based questions tailored to contractor’s business profile. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. We are disappointed to learn that you have not been satisfied with the process. We always pride ourselves on our team providing an excellent service, so please accept our sincere apologies if we fell short of your expectations. Please provide more details about the issues you have mentioned here so that we can ensure this is investigated by our management team: https://www.safecontractor.com/feedback

This application was very difficult this time. We have renewed twice before and never had this trouble. The goal posts keep changing and many of the documents were sent in several times as each time safe contractor said they were not received. This not only delayed the process but also costs us money using our Health and safety advisor. Also we were asked to send in documents that were nothing to do with the business we are in. We are yet to receive the passed documents from Safe Contractor

Requirements change from year to year depending on which auditor is assigned to you. Documents which were perfectly acceptable last year, suddenly not this year. Have a Risk Assessment for use of ladders which we don't use very often, but keep up to date with the training etc just in case we are required to, but because I didn't have an actual "on-site" RA showing the use of them, the 'auditor' wanted to take if off our accreditation !! Had to send him a generic one showing we have a RA if needed, he didn't even ask to see our training certificates to show we are up to date with the training, surely that would have been more use - I wonder what qualifications the 'Auditors' actually have ?!

Thank you for feeding back on your experience gaining accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. This must meet certain criteria to be accepted for audit processes. Our Audit Team Leader has reviewed your file, and has confirmed that on this occasion, the risk assessment provided showed the use of ladders as a work activity, and that more safe working procedures outside of a risk assessment were needed to satisfy the audit for this specific work activity. Your audit requested these in order to be able to accredit you for this work activity, and had already reviewed training records submitted which were sufficient. If at any point you have any queries about the submission requirements then please do contact our team of auditors directly and they will be more than happy to assist you.

When we first gained accreditation it took approximately 3 weeks from start to finish. This has taken 2 Months. You offer a bespoke faster service for an enhanced fee which is akin to a mugging paying extra for a service previously rendered

Thank you for leaving us a review about your accreditation experience. I've checked your note and can see that following your original document submission, our Technical Support Officer advised that further clarification was needed around some of the documentation submitted. Please be advised that the 20 working day turnaround our audit team strive to meet is based on when all completed documents are received - if more documents are required to be submitted, or details of work activities clarified prior to passing your submission to an auditor, this will add time on to how long it takes for your audit to be reviewed and passed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, and to avoid this happening in the future we recommend making a note of everything that was required for the submission this year and ensuring that you update these documents throughout the year on the contractor portal. The portal is available 365 days a year to upload information to, and this becomes available for submission 30 days prior to your audit expiry. Having everything prepared and submitting at your earliest opportunity will speed the audit process up, however there is the option to upgrade to an express service also if you would like an auditor to expedite reviewing your audit submission.

Service overall was ok, if the verification process takes 4 weeks to complete, i think it would be advisable to release the questionnaire 8 weeks before accreditation expires instead of 4 weeks. On release of questionnaire, I think it would be helpful to highlight any changes in the accreditation criteria.

having uploaded our H&S information onto the portal before 30 days due, the date of exp is 25th January, therefore 30 days before means the date to submit was Christmas day. having phoned and explained that our office are closed i was informed nothing could be done. having then chatted on live chat a nice lady said you could submit this for us which would give us the 30 day correct amount to be checked and accredited before expiry. only to find that you were behind and that it would go over the 30 days unless we paid for a 2 day turnaround. We had done everything in the time frame however penalised for not paying an extra fee to get it looked at sooner, therefore our other ssip associations were expiring and could not submit due to safecontractor not for filling there time scales

If I could give Zero stars I would have, I am completely frustrated and angry about the whole safe contractor process. Firstly, they always get our Company Name wrong (On every single occasion) so our certificate is always wrong, then this year we have had to submit our documentation at least 3 times, via the portal and then twice to Safe Contractor auditors, 1 of which was the most unhelpful individual I have ever come across. I had to submit several documents as evidence only for them to question my integrity by claiming they were not associated from the company I was working for, despite them coming from my works email...absolutely disgusting behaviour, there are several more instances of poor customer service and attitude that I could mention.

The whole process from submission of the documents and information asked for in the portal to the renewal application being accepted is slow, annoying and frustrating. Why not ask for all the documents straight off instead of constant emails saying "thank you for the information provided but we now require". Also, why do we have to wait at least 20 working days before it is reviewed by someone? This just seems like a money making effort to get suppliers to pay for the "fast track" service.

I admit we were late renewing our accreditation, due to Covid-19 but we had paid our subscription a few months prior. In October I updated our information and documents I was informed checking wouldn't happen for 4 weeks, unless I paid a further subscription. after 5 weeks I was contacted and asked to supply a little more information which I did without delay. I was then sent an email to inform me that my information would now be sent to audit, and they would be in touch within 2 days. some 7 days later I contacted them to state I was unhappy that there had been no further contact and I wished to cancel the account and get a refund, within an hour of sending that email I received our Accreditation. The time taken to complete the Audit is unrealistic and Unsatisfactory.

We never have the same assessors year on year which presents a huge problem. We are a group of companies which operate under a standard company (holding company) therefore all our documentation is badged with the Group logo and not each individual company logo. This is our company policy set by our board of directors. For the last few years this has been fine with Safe Contractor however this year it was not acceptable and all documents had to be rebadged with the individual company logo. This was time consuming and the contents of the document did NOT change at all. Furthermore, I attempted to contact our assessor in excess of eight times and I am still waiting for her to return my calls. This is not only frustrating but shows a lack of professionalism for Alcumus and safe contractor. In essence there was no support provided once Alcumus received our payment. A good wack of money just to get a certificate to put on the wall. I think we will be looking elsewhere for next year.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. I have escalated your concerns to our Technical Team Manager who has confirmed that in order to award accreditation, we need the documentation to match the registered name on the account to ensure that our audit team are reviewing information that relates to your company. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that re-supplying this information may have caused you. Having checked your notes, we can see that your auditor attempted to make contact several times but was unable to get through to you directly. If you would like us to investigate this further then please leave your contact details and more information for us at https://www.safecontractor.com/feedback and our Technical Team Manager can discuss this with you directly.

Firstly, The link I normally get through to complete our annual accreditation did not come through to me until the 24th September. This is normally with us by middle of the month. Secondly, The wait time of four weeks plus after submitting before being sent to the auditer was absolutely ridiculous unless being constantly asked if I wanted to fast track which considering the annual cost I thought that to be an insult! Lastly, I am very upset by the back and forth of the overall application. I submitted documents attached to emails then being told the next day that they could not be opened due to an error on your system so therefore had to send them through individually also slowed down the process. I have never had so many hold ups with the accreditation before. I found the overall experience unnecessarily stressful!!

While this years auditor was very thorough and quick unfortunately the process to get to that point was appalling. Your system only allowed me to submit documents 1 month prior to expiry, despite all documents being already uploaded. I was then informed on chasing where a response was that it took multiple days before anyone even looked at it, and that there was not much chance of it getting to an auditor before my then current certificate ran out. Also concerning was the fact that, one document was pulled up for an incorrect document reference, which it turns out had been incorrect since 2013 but had passed every year between then and now - very concerning for an organisation that makes the claims that Alcumus does and infers that the certificate I had , certainly in previous years, was not really worth the paper it was printed on. Very poor service overall and it seems unlikely we will use this company again next year.

We've been with them for 5/6 year's now and finding the whole accreditation process increasingly very hard work and it's now becoming tedious and something we dread dealing with every year - only 1 of our clients requires this. All of our other clients accept our in-depth RAM's as suitable and this year we had to jump through 20-new unnecessary hoops.
