I paid for a premium service where I should get a response within 48 hours I believe. This was not met, in the first instance it was nearly 2 weeks before I heard back. Then the category I was accredited for was not viable this year and another had to be chosen as the other was incorrect, so I was accredited for a year under a category that was unviable for me. The whole system is poor!

We’re disappointed to learn that you found the Premier Package did not cater for your company – on this package the 48 hours that you have mentioned refers to the initial contact from our technical team after submission not before. Upon reviewing your account the reason you did not get this initial contact within this timeframe is because your questionnaire was submitted late and then passed to straight to our auditors for the main review to expedite the process. In this instance however you should have received an email stating that this process has happened so I apologise if you have not received this email from us. I appreciate in this instance this package may have fallen below your expectations and that your understanding of what was part of the service may have been miscommunicated, as such I would happy to credit the cost of the premier package for your renewing next year if you wish to renew. The assessment took far to long, 3 months!! I responded to all the questions, and then I was asked the same questions again. I had to deal with 3 different people to get the accreditation. Really poor service this time around, doubt whether I will renew with them again.

We are happy with our certification achieved via Safe Contractor Assessment. However, we hereby raise that the assessment time is too long and hope you can improve on this. Additional subscription to fast track assessments is not affordable to SMEs and this should be considered by Alcumus SafeContractor. We are still awaiting our Safe PQQ Cert and hope to be notified of its availability by the end of this week.

At SafeContractor we do operate a queue system owing to the volume of accounts we have to process. To counter this, we do offer a variety of packages dependant on the needs of our contractors. For example, those who are happy to wait don't need to upgrade, but for businesses where there is urgency the express package is more appropriate. Sitting on an application for 20 working days to make your other renewal options seem more “value” is a truly awful practice, and one that would cost you dearly in a less monopolistic industry. If I tried it pricing a job with various levels of response I would expect to not win that job. These are my own thoughts and do not necessarily reflect the official company’s beliefs.

Over the top assessment for a small one man business and ridiculously over priced for how much small work I do for my customer it’s only a matter of time before I leave and I’m not the only business in my area that feels this way unfortunately a lot have left our client due to this situation

Nightmare to deal with. Will be changing to another supplier. Too much pointless info requested. Seems they are more interested on nvq’s than if the job is safely done.

As your business is on the standard package the lead time for accreditation can apply, in regard to your application we do contact via telephone and email within the timeframe and I can see that contact was made and a discussion was had. Just to put this on your radar and to avoid any delays for you next year, we urge our customers to submit at the earliest possible date they can. To do this you are able to complete your questionnaire all year around and then submit 30 days before your current accreditation date. Safecontractor is a member of the SSIP scheme, I can see you that have other SSIP certificates with other providers and we would be happy to discuss a SSIP application with you upon renewal, meaning you would only complete what is necessary due to the fact you have another SSIP certificate. This way you shouldn't feel you are repeating yourself. The process is far from ideal and feels like a way for SafContractor to make even more money out of its subscribers. hey deliberately take 20 working days to pre-assess your audit but the audit is only open 30 days before it's due, therefore you can not physically get the audits completed in time before your accreditation runs out. but don't worry!!! there is a "fast track" service that yes you guessed it... you can pay extra for, so that your audits can be checked in plenty of time before your accreditation runs out.

I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our process, if you are able to expand more around this point I would be happy to pass the feedback on to the relevant departments. Our contractors usually pick the response times required based on their specific needs at the time, the package that you choose determines the response time received. We will work as quickly as possible through our queue, contractors on a standard package may receive a response quicker, but we always strive to respond within the 20 working day service level set on the standard package. If contractors are able to submit their questionnaire 30 days before the expiry of their current certificate, this is usually sufficient time for us to complete our audit before the current certificate expires. We do give contractors the option to upgrade at any time during the process, if the need should arise dependant on their situation. Hi Trevor, I'm really disappointed to see you've rated our service so poorly due to the queue time. Having reviewed your account, all the interactions logged on our system appear to be timely and relevant so unless there is something else regarding our service which let you down I feel one star is an unfair reflection. As a reminder - you set the first response time by selecting the package most suitable to your business. (Standard, Assisted, Express or Premier). The standard package is designed for businesses where time may not be of the essence. For future reference it may be useful to know that your questionnaire is available to complete all year round, and that you can then submit 30 days before your expiry. Very poor customer service reply I have recently had unauthorised money taken from my account, I have called and emailed on numerous occasions and barely had a reply or update as to how or why the money has been deducted. This is well over 30 days now and unacceptable. When my yearly payment was due I was hounded for the payment and they kept me waiting for quite a while once it had been paid.

Despite submitting the questionnaire on the earliest day possible, it wasn't picked up even for first review until more a month had passed. Then told it would be a further 10 days for the assessor to go through it. Slow process that almost tries to force companies to pay extra for a fast track process, if they are to have any hope of getting a new certificate as their existing one expires. If clients didn't request it, we wouldn't use.

The questionnaire is open all year around so that you may fill it in and upload documents at your convenience. The submit button becomes available 30 days prior to the expiry date of your current certificate which on the standard package usually gives us plenty of time to assess your file within the agreed timescales even if further information is requested during the process. We do have several packages available for contractors to choose from, these offer a variation of response times and support with the process, these are optional dependant on our contractors needs. Because we are on the lowest package you draw the process out. If we haven't submitted everything required then we obviously expect you to pull us up on it. If we fail on a few things why do you insist on highlighting them individually thus dragging the process out over many weeks. No matter how much you delay, and therefore try to get us to pay extra, it won't work. We have an annual contract so only need to be approved, or going through the approval process, to receive the contract. From now on I will be informing the customer of your delaying tactics and constant wasting of my time, and ultimately, your own.
