“The Zildjian coated maple sticks are really nice - the 5A is about as big a stick as I would want to use, the 7A is a 'super' size, i.e slightly lighter and shorter than the 5A but a bit more substantial than the standard 7A. These are well made, well finished sticks and look beautiful with the green coating on the lower half. The coating is very nice feeling - I don't know how it would work for long heavy rock touring though, they might cause blisters for some players, though in my experience any stick will until the skin becomes naturally toughened. I'm thinking about getting a pair of the Zildjian 'Low Vibration' (Hickory, no coating) sticks to try - might help the hands not get so beaten up on practise pad sessions? Anyway, I'd recommend the maple sticks to anyone who plays softer styles, real heavy hitters will want to stay with hickory I expect And yes, good tone from the cymbals!”
