“I love this Book Club - it’s so exciting to chose a book based on a mysterious summary. I feel pure joy and happiness when the wee parcel arrives, beautifully wrapped with a matching card and bookmark. It’s such a great experience and a lovely treat every month that I very much look forward to. It’s great to discover new writers and stories. Although I haven’t actively participated in the forum I do like to read other peoples thoughts but looking forward to taking a more active role in the discussions in the future.”

“I love Rare Birds book club. I find choosing a book out of two deliberately secretive descriptions incredibly exciting each month. The member’s area is also great, where you can discuss your views of the books, read the author interviews and read the Rare Bird’s break down of the monthly books. Following Rare Birds has become part of my daily routine. I have found so many wonderful books thanks to them. I wish I lived closer to their shop!”

“I was given a 3 month subscription as a gift. It has been a delight each month to choose, from the blurb, a book from a short list of two. It is easy to redeem the giftcard and you can miss a month if you choose to. All my choices have been a good read, arrived beautifully packaged and when one went missing in the post Rare Birds Books sent another copy quickly and efficiently. It has been rather special to be guided towards fiction written by women that i would probably not have been aware of nor tried, I love being introduced to new authors. Great bookshop, great gift. “I absolutely love reading but sometimes making time to choose a book is not an easy option (or finding time to read it!) - the monthly email, with a brief outline of the two books given, but without revealing the title or author for me is an excellent way of picking out a book. I would say 90% of the books I chosen have been excellent, a diverse range, and mainly very well written and well worth reading.”

“I am an avid reader and received this subscription as a present. I have to say that the books are beautifully presented - I love the bookmarks and the postcards and the way that they are wrapped. But, I have been disappointed in the books themselves. I can honestly say that I have only really enjoyed one out of the five that I have read to date and that was the last one: I absolutely hated two of them. I will not be renewing my subscription and I would not recommend this to a friend. I think a good subscription needs to be linked to a specific reader's preferences, an A or B choice is not enough.”
