“I received a 3 month book subscription as a birthday gift and absolutely loved the idea. At first I was a bit apprehensive about not knowing which book I was going to get but that makes it all the more fun! I find it really exciting when I know a book is on the way and the packaging is lovely! I would however like to make a couple of points: 1. The whole point of the surprise book is to get you out of your comfort zone, but when I read the first 2 book summaries, one instantly jumped out at me as being my kind of book from the ‘fans of Crazy Rich Asians‘ synopsis. The same thing happened with this months book, The Love Square. I’d actually seen the book listed when searching for others so when I saw the mystery book summaries I actually recognised it and thought, I’d like to read that. However, I probably should have chosen the opposite books as they’re not particularly my style but because of the obvious summary, they jumped out at me. Maybe make them a little less obvious to make people a bit more unsure of what they’re reading! 2. I was thinking about re purchasing a 3 month subscription as a treat as I really enjoy the picking and receiving process but upon just looking up the Love Square, author etc, it’s actually on full price at Waterstones for £2.50 and other main supermarkets for £4.50 so I can’t help but feel although you need to make a profit and run a business, I don’t see the value of the £12 for this particular months book. Overall though, lovely book club and I would highly recommend!”

“I subscribed to Rare Birds well over a year ago, maybe two years (time flies by!) and cannot ever see me leaving. I have read books that I wouldn't normally dream of picking up (Circe being a prime example). My son and daughter in law are as excited as I am when my book drops through the letter box at the beginning of the month. I love the way the book comes wrapped and the special bookmark (the Mary Poppins quote is my favourite so far). I always pass the book on to my friend and she really likes the card insert. I am a long term fan of Rare Birds BC.”
