“I was devistated when my hard drive stopped working. It had years of family photos that were irreplaceable. Fortunately we found R3 Data Recovery with a quick Internet search. We got a call back the same night I sent an inquiry to the web site. I appreciated the swift service and steady updates. It was a bit pricy, but worth every penny to get all of our pictures back. “I can only say that the service I received from R3 Data Recovery was fantastic. They have an extremely calm professional approach rather than the hard sell take your money artists which I will explain first. I had previously sent my drive to another company Rapid Data Recovery who took my money up front, much more than they advertised, and after a week they declared it was impossibly to recover the data. They wanted to throw the disc out but I asked for it to returned which it was. The cover wasn't on the disc and there was a rattling sound coming from inside. I was not impressed. I contacted Andy Butler at R3 Data Recovery who offered to have a look. When they received the disc they reported they opened it up and found a loose screw in the platens and a fingerprint inside. This was not the clean room hotel I had been promised and this just confirmed that Rapid Data Recovery were a bunch of scam artists. NEVER USE RAPID DATA RECOVERY ( If there is a reference website I would be happy for this advice to be posted on) Back to R3 Data recovery. Their service was excellent. They kept me up to date. I was not in a hurry and they took their time to work on my disc when time was available. There task was more difficult because of the abuse the disc had received in the hands of the RDR bandits. Then I had the good news that they had managed to recover most of my family photos. What excellent news. The cost was more than I had expected but I felt my problem had been treated very professionally and I would recommend R3 DATA Recovery to anyone. I hope this of assistance when choosing who to use. “Data recovered as promised, and collection and delivery of hard drive managed seamlessly. It's not a cheap gig - in the order of £500 for recovering the data from a 1TB external hard drive which had been dropped down the stairs, including couriering and a replacement drive - but R3's price seems competitive. Excellent customer service, a smooth, quick process, and a trustworthy company.”

“I work as part of a multi-disciplinary team covering design, PR, event management and digital media. We approached R3 when one of our external hard drives failed. They successfully diagnosed the issue and quickly provided a reasonably*-priced quote (*when compared to other quotes that we had received from other recovery firms). The speedy diagnosis and good news that our data was recoverable sealed the deal and within a week, we had our data back. Whilst not 'cheap', we consider it good value for money considering the work-hours needed to reconstruct the data/work that we would have lost. Overall, a speedy professional service with good results and value for money.”

“Absolutely fantastic! Not a straight forward recovery at all, two drives in an old Windows Home Server format with data and architecture split across both. Mechanical failure on one drive and a number of bad clusters on the other. Without any quibbling or negotiation R3 honoured their original quote and had the drives back to me in a quicker than expected time frame. Hopefully none of my drives will fail again but if they do I wouldn't event look at anyone else in future!”

“I snapped off my USB stick from my laptop and my heart nearly stopped all my accounts and records and lots of other information was on it for my small business (self-employed driving instructor). My daughter found R3 Data Recovery on line and I filled in the online form that evening. I thought it would be the next day when I would get a reply however, within 20 minutes I had Stewart on the phone detailing what they could do and informed me of the cost and any additional cost if they proved necessary. So I knew exactly what the costs would be. It was so reassuring to have someone on the phone who knew what they could and would do. I was informed all the way through the next few days with emails and when it would be delivered back to me and it was within minutes of the start of the hour when the delivery people said it would be. “This review applies to an 'old' Western Digital external hard drive that had the misfortune to fall off my desk and thus become quite temperamental when trying to access the data on it. A quick google search displayed several results (naturally!) but chose to go with R3 as they had a Scottish based office... although I think my drive actually ended up in Northern England!? A courier was used to come and collect my drive which I had packed extremely well to try and avoid any further damage! First reports back weren't good. Told that the drive itself was damaged but they would try to see what they could recover. Several emails and a few weeks later it transpired that the drive needed 'rebuilding' and thus the hunt was on for a donor drive of the exact same make/model. Well - it took quite some time (about 3 months in all) but it would appear that the repair worked as the much newer portable drive I sent away with the damaged one returned home yesterday courtesy of a next-day courier. Today I sat and went through the contents and yes - 12 years worth of photos and documents had been retrieved - along with quite a few MP3's (which I wasn't bothered about but got them back anyway!). While their communication might not be top class the results have leased me completely and have justified the spend - especially to get back all my wedding photos and those from a 'holiday of a lifetime' to Kenya... Thank you R3 for your hard work and perseverance with my drive...”

Hi Neil Yes your old WD drive (WD2500JS-00MHB0) was struggling and despite the heads reading most of the sectors a rebuild was necessary. Fortunately we did find the correct donor and although slow to read the sectors eventually we had a complete image of the drive from which to recover the data. Despite the time taken we kept the cost down and focused on getting you a result, this is where we do shine. Total cost in this case was £334+vat including the donor, and a new drive for the recovered data. This was achieved thanks to keeping you on a budget service and using spare technician and equipment time. We are increasing our production capacity and adding more office space to accommodate new staff to improve customer services and handle more calls but our focus is always the recovery.
