Hi Cornel Many thanks for the positive review and feedback. In reality your case was processed to the quoted time scale of 5-7 working days from arrival, we do try to progress every case a quickly as possible. However a number of factors can affect processing times. These range from staff / equipment availability and varying demands on the lab to in this case the complication was working out how the quality of the results of nearly 2TB of data recovered could be checked before release. When a RAID 5 array made up of 4 X1TB discs fails it is often not just one drive which has problems and there is the possibility that there is some corruption or more than one recovery will be needed due to how drives drop out and get re-added. All in all though a good result achieved cost effectively for the price quoted at the outset. We continue to maintain the best reaction and highest success rates possible, and as one of the very few data recovery labs in the UK we are increasing our capacity to help more people every year by continual investment. Was kept informed at all stages of recovery and though opted for the economy service received the data back on a new drive sooner than expected. “Even though the recovery took a while I cant complain- I got my important data back out of my broken hardrive, and I am extremely happy with it! Also the company sounded trustworthy and professional. If I ever break my hard-rive-hopefully not -I will call them again. When a new hardrive with my data that was sent to me got damaged during shipping they posted me another one with my recovered data.”

Hi Bernard When I first heard about your case it had me intrigued. The fact that your nearest DR provider to Co. Donegal had given only a 50% chance of recovery because of the scratch on the platter was a concern but not the worst we have seen and recovered. R3 engineering resources are the very best available, from expert engineers to the equipment necessary to help control unstable drives. However it was still a difficult recovery on WDBABV0010BBK-00 which did take an extended period to complete. Glad we could be of service Andy

“Having lost all data on laptop, the local computer shop couldn't salvage anything. Being that all our photos/home movies of our 5 year old daughter since she was born were on hard drive, we were desperate to retrieve.. Hi Craig Many thanks for the review, it is appreciated, despite the DR company in Reston being unable to assist you, to their credit they were able to direct you to R3. Despite your Hitachi HTS723225A7A364 having weak heads and some bad sectors it was a relatively straight forward / non eventful recovery which we like also. Dear Fearn Despite your negative review it has to be said you did receive a full recovery for the £199+vat quoted at the outset for the budget degraded WD Model WDBAAF0010HBK-00 drive recovery service. The delays and processing issue came form you being unavailable for many weeks and then confusion at your end on who was going to make payment. This caused a quarantine and credit control process to be invoked and meant that despite dozens of calls, and several emails trying to get in touch with you over several weeks we were about to wipe the data a destroy the original drive as we are not a data storage company and needed our image drive back for production. When finally we were about to secure wipe the recovered data and image drive, someone else did finally pay on your behalf but it meant that the recovered data and your original drive at this point had become separated. I will look into where your original drive is and make it ready for return, however there is an additional £15+vat for the carriage. Andy

HI Kashif Glad we were able to find most of the overwritten data. When upgrading the O/S on an iMac always save a copy of the data to an external drive just in case there are any issues. In this case the recovery was just a £99+vat software recovery. In reality it was something any reasonably competent computer / iMac savvy person could have done. but I understood why you wanted to be sure the work was carried out safely and by competent engineers. Although software recoveries are not really the sort of work we advertise for many thanks for taking the time to review. Andy

“I am a self employed composer and performer. I've always emphasised he importance of backing up one's work to my students, and am normally conscientious myself - but in April this year I was composing to a very tight schedule, working at home on a reasonably new computer. I got lazy - and then disaster struck. When my hard drive melted down, it looked as if I had lost all of a new piece I had JUST finished composing, due for premier at a major European music festival three weeks later. To reconstruct the piece would have been impossible - I was devastated, and all enquiries to local IT experts confirmed my worst fears. “The service was quick and efficient they succeeded to re over 90% of my hard drive data where others were telling me it was lost and not retrievable. The whole process was a matter of days not weeks excellent . One small comment I am not computer wiz and they way which you are given to check the data is quite difficult and they talk to you as you are one of them. “Being the unhappy owner of a 2Gb memory stick which just stopped working, ie. no physical damage, just refusal to power on or mount onto a selection of machines, I was facing the loss of several critical files (one of which in particular contained 4 years worth of notes and details of an ongoing project). I contacted one (nameless) data recovery company who examined the device and stated that there was no physical damage (which was obvious), but the flash memory was damaged beyond repair, and no data could be retrieved. As a final resort I sent the stick to R3 Data Recovery on a Friday afternoon. By 6 pm on the Saturday, an engineer emailed me a list of the files he was able to retrieve, including the critical one, and following settlement of the (in my opinion, reasonable) invoice, a new data stick was promptly returned to me with all my missing files. Many thanks to R3 Data Recovery !”

Hi Rob Some unbranded memory sticks can be problematic to work out how the data can be extracted when the controller fails, and although in this case we were successful, there are times even we don't have the solution --- yet, that said, due to our seeing more memory sticks than most data recovery labs we have 4 different systems and individual data recovery engineers to give the maximum chance of a recovery being possible. Hi Mike Yes yours was certainly a problematic one, and required additional rebuild attempts and donors to improve the results. Potentially further improvement could be made but its a case of more cost and diminishing returns as the damaged platter surface is the last area to read. But all in all a good result for a drive which would normally be declared unrecoverable. Many thanks for the review Andy and the team at R3

“Very impressed with the overall service. I first received a call from a member of the team to find out the problem I was having before he gave me a quote and had my drive couriered to their lab. I received a spreadsheet document listing all the data that was recoverable and once I'd made my final payment the data was recovered and the drive was couriered back to me. This took no longer than a week.”
