“My wife and I chose to do a two week volunteer program in Thailand the last two weeks of November 2019 through Pod Volunteer. Iona was our contact and she kept us well informed throughout the entire process. Thanks to her our questions and uncertainties about how to get there, who would pick us up, etc. were handled in a professional and timely manner, enabling us to travel care free. We really enjoyed our time at the rescue center and greatly appreciate the important work supported by Pod Volunteer in various countries.”

“I went to Ghana to do early learning volunteering with pod village by village for two weeks. Wow what an experience, not at all What I expected it to be. Met some of the most amazing people also volunteers. The children were so happy, smiling and intelligent individuals. So independent at a young age. I was so well cared for by v by v. Felt very safe and protected by them. They really took their health and safety Standards seriously. I would highly recommended them as a charity to do volunteering with. .”

“Great company from start to finish. Lots of really helpful information was given to us from what to expect, what to take and anything else needed to ensure we got the most out of our volunteering experience. It’s very obvious that the team had been to the sanctuary in Thailand and experienced it all first hand. We would definitely recommend booking with Pod and I will certainly use them again for my next volunteering trip.”

“I had a fantastic time with Pod Volunteer. The application process was really smooth and Bee was really helpful and could answer our questions. The Desert Elephant Conservation project was incredible to be a part of - I learned so much about elephants and I could tell that the project with Elephant Human Relations Aid was making a difference. I would definitely recommend it and would like to do it again!”

“What an incredible experience! If someone had told me a year ago that I would be living amongst, caring for and collecting data from ELEPHANTS then I would’ve thought you were mad. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I first arrived but what an AMAZING three weeks. During my time here it is also evident that every volunteer is making such a huge difference – all the work that is done, all the data collected is working towards such a worthwhile and meaningful cause. This trip was such an eye opener – after watching presentations that focus on elephant welfare, the ivory trade, why their numbers are decreasing and the history of AERU. It has made me a lot more aware of how to help not just elephants, but wild animals, what to support and what not to support. I feel beyond lucky to be able to spend time with and really feel these animals, both physically and emotionally. Such a heart-warming and wholesome three weeks.”

“Pod gave me an incredible teaching experience in India and made the whole trip from start to finish so enjoyable, inspiring and even more importantly fun! To do something so out of my comfort zone has never felt so rewarding and I am so thankful for the trip that Pod have made and the support they gave to me before and during the trip. The whole experience wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for Pod so I am lucky and grateful for everything they do for their volunteers and everyone they help whilst out on their projects.”

“I had a fantastic time in the bush with Seed Madagascar, I thoroughly enjoyed the different wildlife transects I carried out plus seeing an amazing variety of wildlife in the process. However some information regarding how Seed Madagascar operates wasn't made clear to me by Pod. This included the fact that Seed Madagascar operates monthly volunteer schemes with a trip at the end of the month. I arrived mid month which meant I did my Berenty trip in the middle of my 4 weeks volunteering. This caused difficulty in settling in as volunteers had already been together 2 weeks and I traveled out alone. It also meant I had extra days at the end of the Seed adventure where I had planned to do the Berenty trip but ended up spending time alone in Fort Dauphin with little to do.”

The team in Madagascar run a 10 week volunteer schedule and typically volunteers join each fortnight so I’m sorry that you were the only volunteer to arrive on your selected start date and I understand that settling into an settled team is often difficult. I’m sorry to hear that your holiday trip to the Berenty lemur wildlife Reserve was rearranged when you arrived in Madagascar. I’m really glad that you enjoyed your volunteer placement and thank you so much for choosing to help support the unique habitats, wildlife and community in Madagascar. “They were really good both before and during the trip providing useful information and support. Everything was really friendly and knowledgeable on the locations and sites I was going to work on. The work we did while on placement was really good and the centre had obviously been carefully choose and had to meet very good standards.”
