“We had an emergency and our calls did not get through to our daughter. Aside from this mishap (which I guess happens when your service rides on some telco provider's infrastructure), ParentShield offers a wide range of tools to manage what yor child does with her/his phone”

Having removed the answerphone from the network, the behaviour does feel different in situations where a call doesn't connect. Having just joined us, and no track record of reliable service, it's an understandable reaction, absolutely no problem at all. And thank you for giving ParentShield a go.

“It is a good place to start when allowing your child a mobile phone for the first time. My 10yr old has been pestering me for a phone since the start of year 5, when many of her friend already had phones and started walking to and from school by themselves. I managed to hold off until the start of Year 6, when I found there were occasions where her having a phone would be helpful (when she might want to look in a different part of a shop to me, or when she went away with her Grandmother) so I decided to try ParentShield sim after much research. It a good sim, for the most part she has a good signal except for near her school, which means she has to start walking before she is able to let me know she is on her way home (hence the 4 stars). I do think there is room for improvement also, as there is no tracking via the sim which is a shame (Google FamilyLink is recommended which requires data purchase and is a bit glitchy) and there is no assistance when it comes to any online apps (and only the ability to limit data usage if you purchase data). Here Google FamilyLink does help, but again, it has it limits. Overall, for a first time sim, it is a good idea but I think with the higher price and those lacking elements, it might not be a long term solution for many.”

“Reassuring that I can check messages and calls and set limits. Was also helpful to get automatic feedback to change settings, when the dial code for country of origin wasn't set correctly. Still exploring things, as I've only just obtained the sim for my daughter.”

“I feel that this works great for text messages and calls, however feel that the next development would be tracking app and many youngsters now are using apps to communicate rather than text and calls. I like the fact that data can be turned off and that you are able to hear the calls between people also. Overall it is working well, however would like to see more development around app tracking partciularly around snapchat”

“Baseline features and concept is good, but online portal and app needs to be more user friendly, doesn't feel that modern”

“Very easy process to get set up and very much a plug and play system for using the app/web access. My only issue (and I don’t think any other provider would provide a better solution) is that you can’t see any iMessage’s and as my daughter and 99% of her friends and contact have iPhones you can’t see these messages through Parentshield which unfortunately makes the message functionally redundant for us. All features that you can use work really well - so apart from this one functionality issues, it’s great.”

“I've been with ParentShield with a few weeks now and find it really helpful to be sure my kids are safe from predators, bullies, etc. The platform is quite easy to navigate and use. A bit on the pricy side but I couldn't find a cheaper solution. All in all good service.”

“Absolutely amazing concept and perfect for a child’s first phone! The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is down to the app and navigation of the portal. It’s very dated and could do with a big makeover to bring it into this century. Other than that everything is exactly what you need for your child!”
