Our builder purchased a glass balustrade with spigot fittings on our behalf in July 2023. The materials were delivered on time, however, 2 of the glass panels had chipped corners. The spigots were for glass of 12mm to 17mm thickness and as the glass was 12mm, were believed to be correct. However, the grub screws were just not long enough to hold the glass in place. 3 spigots have been returned to Origin, but as far as they are concerned, they work as they should. My builder managed to fit 2 panels, one of which had a shard of glass fall out on fitting. Both of these panels had to be subsequently removed, because they were not secure in the spigot fitting and moved to and fro in strong winds. Origin are not at all concerned about this situation. They have not made any attempt to replace the chipped glass panels. Nor do they want to do anything about the inadequate spigot fittings / grub screws. I have now had a pile of glass and spigots sat on my terrace costing over £8k since July 2024 with no resolution in sight. Despite many promises for return phone calls they have never made any attempt to try and resolve the issues. I am very sad that our experience of Origin has been so poor against the experiences of others. But from our experience, we cannot recommend.

Hi Karen Thanks for your feedback. We have spoken at length to you. You were not our customer for this installation. An order for spigots and glass was made by your builder which we supplied. We did not know where the balustrade was being installed or for whom. We have subsequently told both you and your builder that we will do all that we can to help with any further issues that either of you may have. The Origin Team.

Damaged goods, long processing times, manager is hard work and unable to speak to with 99% of this time he isn’t around. Wouldn’t recommend unless you have time to wait for replacement products when they arrive damaged. Staff, however are very friendly.

Terrible product. Complained many times about this shocking product. Customer service is non existent and not willing to try rectify. All balconies I have had off them and fitted for my customers are now rusted and in poor condition. Made my company look very bad due to the lack of care from their side. Shouldn’t be in business.

Hi. Thank you for your review. We are unclear who you are. We sell many thousands of stainless steel posts a year. The only circumstances where the stainless steel may discolour is if they are cross contaminated with mild steel. Usually the any discolouration can be treated. We are unclear who you are. As like others, first impressions were good I placed a ( should have been a simple ) order in March 2022 for rails and glass for a 10‘ x 10‘ decking project, BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER I gave them the sizes pictured clips and still they kept getting it wrong, most of the grass was wrong size the stickers sizes where placed on the wrong glass but instead of taking responsibility they passed the blame to the customer, even had to pay extra to get 1 piece of glass sorted and when I received my delivery the sandblasted was on the wrong size yip they wanted more money to sort this for their mistake, I phoned them up and they just gave me a load of excuses after over a year of emails, phone calls, pictures, video clips and not to mention all those wrong deliveries, “when they turned up” about may 2023 I decided to take them to court… by the end of June, the court was over and so was all the excuses from a very bad run company….I lost the court case not because the company was correct, and I was wrong…. THIS IS WHERE FUTURE CUSTOMER HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL. This company has written a contract that more or less states if they get any orders wrong. (That they clearly did on this occasion and others read the reviews) It’s the customers fault….I have now sorted my issue with the glass all I had to do was move two pieces of glass 2 centimetres easy fix but clearly not for this company. with all that said , my advice would be shop wisely, first impressions are not always the best and on this occasion what you see is not always what you’re going to get

Hi Daniel We were really disappointed to read this review. We spent many hours helping you to specify your gate panel. We supplied the same panel on three separate occasions either at a reduced cost or at no cost to yourself. You then decided to take legal action against us. In the years that we have been trading this has only happened to us on three occasions. The judge looked at the facts and could not have been clearer that the we were entirely blameless and that you were at fault. Your legal action against us was dismissed. Terrible product, I’m in the building game and used origin architecture for some years, however I used this product on my own house after years of fitting them for customers who I have recommended this company to. I ordered 3 balconies which after fitting, all rusted within 3 months of been fitted. Dealt with Gareth Philips who when I mentioned the issues literally made every excuse under the sun, it was disgusting customer service and strung me a pack of lies and then literally burried his head in the sand, stopped replying to my emails and gave me no help whatsoever. Rubbish product, shocking standard and as time has gone on Iv had reports from previous customers who have come back to me with the same issues. I pride myself on a top quality finish with my company and origin have let me down and shown me up with a shocking standard where there product is clearly not up to doing the job it’s supposed to. Iv been over a year giving them the opportunity to at least show the decency to come and look at the issues but after a year of been ignored Iv had enough and see no other option but to say how I feel on here. Shocking, no longer recommend to anyone. Customer service is appalling. Any of my staff acted in this way they wouldn’t have a job

Hi. We are really sorry that you were not happy with the posts that you received from us. Gareth left our business about 6 months ago. We were aware of your issue but it would be good to be able to contact you to discuss it with you. We are not sure of your contact details but if you call us we will see if we can help. Generally all stainless steel products do need to be cleaned to prevent them discolouring. The frequency of the cleaning depends on the environment in which they are in. The Origin Team.

First impressions of the company were good, as the products were affordable and they were delivery promptly. However, we noticed within a few months of purchase that the posts were becoming discoloured (their current state is atrocious). We immediately contacted the company who refused to accept liability and make a reasonable proposal to try and resolve this issue (and their position has not changed to this day). Their customer service got worse as the issue went on, sometimes taking weeks/months to respond to emails/phone calls. What is incredibly frustrating for us is that they assured us at the time of purchase that the posts were the correct ones for our location (as we were far enough in land - the owner even said he knew the area where we lived). Would not recommend using this company again and we have little choice now but to take legal action unfortunately to try and recover our losses. Appalling service.

Hi James We are sorry that we that you are not happy with your posts. You placed an order with us in May 2020 (over two years ago). At the time of ordering, we discussed with you whether you should order mirror polished stainless steel posts. We were clear that they would give you increased protection against corrosion and discolouring. You decided not to do so on the basis that they were more expensive and you didn’t think they were necessary given the environment that they would be in. We made clear to you that we have not had issues with discolouring of the sort that you have experienced with any other of our other customers. We supply thousands of posts a year. It is difficult to know for sure but the discolouring that you have experienced is likely to have been caused by a failure to properly maintain the posts or cross-contamination with carbon steel. We responded to all of your emails and as a gesture of goodwill offered to replace the posts at cost even though we were clear that the posts that we supplied were of high quality. Our business has been built on supplying outstanding products and great customer service. We remain willing to try and resolve this issue amicably. Origin Architectural

I made an order with Origin 2 months ago but the order never arrived. Instead of solving the problem, they ignored me. Very disappointed with their attitude. Will never use them again.

Ordered an L shape balustrade 1200x1200 on 9/10 and paid £620. Then only received 1 tube 6m long a week later, nothing else. Staff lied about delivery and so rude. They asked proof for what they said in writing meanwhile they contacted you by phone. Please avoid this company at any cost!

Rang up and left an enquiry with mick watson, spent 10mins explaining the Full details of my Juliet balcony (got the impression he wasn't really listening) . Said he would come back to me shortly, never did. So I called back spoke to Mick again and he said he didn't remember speaking to me and could i explain again .Waste of my time . Ordered elsewhere.

I ordered a Juliet balcolney 5 weeks ago and it still has not arrived, I was told it would take 7-10 days. I received nothing after the first 14 days, so I rang back to find where my order was, they then sent the stainless steel bars and brackets out which I received the next day and said the glass was on route. One week later and still no glass, so I rang back again to be told the glass would be another two weeks, rang back today when the glass should of been here to be told, the delivery van is in Newcastle and will be there today, guess what no glass. Money has been taking out of account. Would not recommend this company at all, they just pass you from pillar to post, if glass does not arrive next week trading standards is the next step.
