“The Ocean Bottles are one of the best purchases I've ever made. They look fantastic but they also insulate my drinks perfectly (hot or cold) for a very long time, even in very hot or cold temperatures. They are also super easy to clean and that makes all the difference compared to other bottles. We carry our bottles everywhere and wouldn't use any other.”
“I love my bottle.
My main criteria when choosing a bottle:
1. Easy to clean: the top means you can open it up to really clean it properly. I hand wash mine, but it’s been in the machine a few times.
2. Small opening to drink from: Most bottles that open wide so you can clean them easily have a huge opening to drink from. Or they have a straw which I don’t like cleaning.
3. 1 litre. I drink lots and am out most of the day so having a big bottle is essential.
My three requirements were not as easy to fulfil as you would think and this is the only bottle I found that ticked all my boxes.
Bonuses:
It looks so damn good. Seriously. So well designed.
It feels very durable. I’m certain it will last a lifetime.
I am clumsy and have dropped it a lot. It has a small dink. But I am not careful with it at all. So very strong.
It’s good for the planet. I know this point should be further up…
I had my last bottle (£10 from paperchase for 5 years.) So know how much use I get from a bottle. And how many disposable bottles I would be buying without it. I already felt pretty green.
The plastic collection promise definitely helps with justifying the initial cost, and you can log all your refills to keep helping collect bottles. I’m at 1087 and have only just started logging my refills.
It’s not as good at keeping hot things hot and cold thing cold as say a chilly bottle, the top is just plastic so not as well insulated. This was not a priority for me. In my opinion if you have not finished your drink before it starts to lose its temperature you are not drinking enough. And that is on you not BOB
Anyway buy the bottle. I love mine.”
“Love it, this is the size I was waiting for, because I had the first version and found it a bit too small. It is practical, robust, it has a great thermal isolation, so your water stays cold for a very long time, it has 1l capacity ... we are planning to bring with us to all of our future excursions.”
“I carry the bottle to work every day full of ice water, fill it again as soon as I get off for the evening. It works better than any other thermos that I've owned and much more convenient. I highly recommend one.”
“I absolutely love everything about my Ocean Bottle, from the built in cup to the ability to use as a food flask in winter months if needed! And to top it all, these bottles are reducing that plastic island in the ocean! Result!!!”
“As a bottle aficionado (or bottle-hoarder as my wife says), I have dozens of bottles, mostly from the big companies, HF, KK, SM, etc., and these are pretty much on par with them as far as fit and finish.
I like that they fit in cup holders, they feel nice in the hand, and the strap is useful and seems sturdy. Cosmetically, and functionally they are as good as it gets.
Performance-wise, I will say that they are not quite up to my HFs, but hold temps plenty long enough for my purposes. I think the weak point is the top portion. When I lay a bottle of ice-filled drink on its side, quite a bit of condensation will build up around the lid and angled portion of the bottle. As I said though, this is not a bottle I would be taking on a long trek over the desert, but something that sits next to me on my desk at work and keeps me refreshed all day long.
My favorite features are the easy open split, allowing you to load ice or clean it, and the simple design.
The 2 features I would like to "improve" would be some type of retention on the cap. I didn't pay attention the first time I spun it off, thinking for some reason that the strap was attached to it and it flew across the room. Fortunately, I was inside at the time.
The other is that I would prefer silicone or some other soft, durable material for the bottom. I tend to clank it down sometimes, and I worry it might crack.
For most people, this is a good purchase that you will be happy with for a long time.
I was an original backer of the Kickstarter project and purchased a 500ml and 1L bottle.”
“Finally it came! I was happy with my ocean bottle but it was too small for my water need...and now I'm happier than before with my Big Ocean Bottle. It is not cheap but the purpose is to collect bottles from seawater not to simply buy a bottle. By the way the quality and the hardness of these bottles are very good and the two different opening sizes makes these a dual purpose container you can use for liquid but also for small fruit like strawberries or blueberries or a fruit salad.”
