Hello Chris, Plastic is necessary for packing quilted natural insulation. At present there is no alternative material available that provides protection for our products during transit and storage on site. We are constantly reviewing this position but the state of the art currently leaves us no viable option. In our case, not only does plastic packaging protect the product, it also enables us to compress the insulation greatly reducing packaging waste and carbon miles from factory gate to site. We use recycle code 4 LDPE for all our packaging. Most of our insulation is compress packed in order to minimise packaging. Compress packing also enables us to reduce the thickness of packaging. The packaging weight per sq.m of 100mm Thermafleece CosyWool is 22g per sq.m. This compares to the packaging weight per sq.m of so called 100% wool which is more than 80g per sq.m. Our packaging waste is around a quarter of that from alternative brands of natural insulation. I hope you can see from this how much effort we have made to reduce packaging weight. Another thing to bear in mind is the transport impact reduction that compress packing enables. We use 50% less lorry space when transporting our products. In addition, we manufacture in the UK. This means that the carbon miles from gate to site for our products is on average 6 to 7 times less than equal amounts of other imported products.

“Ordered 2 rolls of the cosy fleece for using to plug large gaps behind kitchen units for draught proofing. Order arrived on time and we'll packaged. The product is very easy to use, I just tore off strips and found it brilliant to fill any size gap. So far it has done exactly what I needed it to. We live in a very exposed place, in a newly completed barn conversion so we have a few draughts. So far only used 1 roll as it goes a long way. But very pleased at being able to use a natural product, worth paying a bit more for.”

“Great product and good price, however only 3 stars as the delivery driver decided he couldn't get up our lane. He called to ask if he could leave it at another property where he was delivering about quarter of a mile from us. Annoying as we get large delivery vehicles on our lane on a regular basis, and I had to make a number of trips in my car to collect the insulation from a very accommodating neighbour.”
