“I like that it shows you what jobs you applied for. It can narrow down to areas. The only downside is that the employers take ages to get back to you after you've submitted your application and they have looked at it. They don't let you know if you were successful or not.”

“My ten years of teaching experience in Basic school have significantly influenced my teaching philosophy and methods. As an educator, I have dedicated myself to helping young learners establish a solid mathematical foundation by fostering engaging and supportive learning environments. This experience has enriched my comprehension of student learning while allowing me to explore various teaching techniques that address diverse learning styles and needs. I recognized the necessity of making math concepts relatable and approachable for students. Early in my career, my teaching focused on traditional techniques that emphasized memorization and repetition. A pivotal moment occurred in 2015 when a colleague introduced me to interactive tools like Mathematica, GeoGebra, and Poly Pad. These applications enabled me to transition from rote methods to a more visual and interactive style of math instruction. Poly Pad, in particular, revolutionized my geometry lessons by allowing students to visualize and engage with shapes and figures. This innovation made mathematical concepts more concrete, leading my students to better understand abstract ideas like area and length. Motivated by my students' progress, I decided to further develop my teaching expertise by enrolling at Valley View University in 2016, where I focused on mathematics. This additional education enhanced my understanding of the mathematics curriculum, especially for senior high school students, and equipped me with updated skills and teaching strategies that I later incorporated into my Basic school teaching. My training deepened my comprehension of how to scaffold students' learning effectively, connecting their prior knowledge to more advanced concepts. One of the key techniques I employed throughout my years in Basic School education is the use of positive reinforcement to inspire students. I frequently recognized students for using appropriate mathematical language and praised their efforts during lessons. This strategy not only kept students engaged but also fostered a growth mindset, teaching them that improvement is linked to effort. I found that peer learning was a powerful motivator as students were encouraged by their classmates’ successes, prompting them to enhance their own skills. Adapting my teaching to cater to the individual needs of my students was another crucial aspect of my approach. I quickly realized that every student possesses a distinct set of skills, knowledge, and experiences. I made a conscious effort to assess my students' prior understanding through pre-tests, discussions, and interactive charts before introducing new topics. This allowed me to tie new lessons to familiar subjects, making learning more relevant and easier for my students to understand. As a result, I observed considerable improvements in both their comprehension and information retention. In addition to academic lessons, I also prioritized the cultivation of social and collaborative skills. Group activities, peer assessments, and hands-on exercises were integral elements of my classroom routine. These strategies created a collaborative learning atmosphere where students felt supported and motivated to succeed.”
