Croydon Branch. My experience and in my opinion, I found the staff to be rude to me and my experience was not good.

disconcerting that 2 items were mised completely by the mot tester. one tyre was on the wrong way round it is a directional tyre which is a fail .told the back box on the exhaust needed doing but in fact the exhaust was blowing in two places had I fixed the only part required by Mr clutch it would have failed the re test. was booked in for 12 on re test but not done until 12.45 . I told the guy on the desk about the tyre being the wrong way round and he wasn't bothered even though I had sorted it.not impressed by the low standard of mot testing won't be going back. will probably get an apology but would rather you monitored your testers better.

Mr Clutch failed to declare severe corrosion on an advisory when they did an MOT on a vehicle we then bought. Had it been on advisory we would not have bought the car.

Took our Freelander 1 in to have the clutch done. It took nearly two days. The car was returned to me three times and I could not get it into gear - it took them 3 hours to sort it out. They claimed that it needed the DMF at the same time (doubling the cost), but could not tell me what was wrong with it, and would not return the old parts for me to have a look at. When I drove away it overheated and I had to fill the cooling system with water as it had been left empty. The EML was repeatedly coming on and the turbo was not providing any boost. Further to that the steering wheel was turned to the right when going straight. Months later I am still waiting for them to agree to repair the car and pay for my garage bill whilst on holiday. I have not had an apology. I will never use them again.

Mr Clutch Bletchley failed to understand the DVSA requirements for left hand drive car headlights. This is crazy because the same car with same headlight configuration passed MOT four times at the same centre. I urge Mr Clutch to train all their MOT testers in what the regulations actually say, rather than rush to fail cars which comply.

I will like to bring this to your notice, that as a customer I am very discontented and aggrieved by the poor workmanship at Mr. Clutch Swindon branch. I booked for MOT and major service on July 11, 2019 at the Swindon branch for my car in the morning. I told at the reception very particularly to look into the a considerable oil leak and they should have close look at it & repair it. I called them again around 12:30 PM to understand what they have found missing. I was told there is no sign of oil leakage and as MOT has failed I need to get my break pad changed, I consented and gave them a go ahead. I once again reiterated to have a clean look at the oil leak and other issues. I was told to come at 5:00 PM to collect the vehicle. I received a call around 4:50 PM around the same day but as I was close to the branch, I said I am coming over. On reaching I was told the work has not been completed and I can get my car only by tomorrow and MOT done again. I had no choice, I requested that they should complete all by 2:00 PM as I had a major requirement of car the next day. On 12th July, 2019 I got a call around 12:30, that vehicle is ready to be collected. That’s appreciated. I reached branch and enquired about oil leak or any other issue. I was reassured that there is not much to worry about the oil leakage it is minor and outflow is very less. There were few other suggestions not serious ones advised. In few days I started finding various things not usual as they were before. Internal lights had issue, front passenger side window had an issues. I ignored as they were not major. Then 4 days later, on July 16th, 2019 I found car not able to take pickup and getting heavier. I was on motorway and with great difficulty I reached home from Langley. I tried several time the next day to reach Mr.Clutch Swindon office but in vain. I took it to nearby garage and found that turbo intercooler pipe has come out due to poor fitting and its inner seal was broken. I had to get it repaired by paying 30 pounds. On August 10th, 2019 I with my family were going to Newbury to attend function. Between Junction 14 and 13 on the motorway, I found car trembling I was on a 60 miles / hour speed. I immediately pulled it over hard shoulder and inspected of suspected flat tyre. But it was all right, We continued. After going around 2 – 3miles more, again the car started shaking. I cut to the left and suddenly our front left tyre came out loose and it went away from they car. I struggled to get on the hardshoulder. Thankfully there was no vehicle behind us and we were on the left. It was traumatic experience. I called on my road side assistance, who came and inspected the situation. The mechanic asked me whether I have gone to service or garage in near past as the nuts were not screwed and a shoddy work was done. Facing that hardship and help from them, I got a recovery truck and loaded the car and came to Mr.Clutch office. It was a very cold response from the receptionist there. He argued that as I have not booked an appointment he can’t see my vehicle till next weekend. I told him the situation and it was because of poor workmanship and shoddy work of Mr.Clutch Swindon that we almost lost our lives. He argued. I showed him the report of RAC. He got the vehicle parked down. I have asked him to get back to me by Tuesday, i.e August 13th, 2019 on the status. I mailed to their MD, got a response that it will be inspected soon. They have been shirking off their responsibility for the same and giving poor logic, showing their poor customer centricity and workmanship. It is 17 days since, I have not got my car. This is sheer negligence, poor workmanship and unprofessional behavior . Please give me reason, why I should not take legal action and seek punitive action against the company. It was life threatening experience and anything could have happen. I will certainly not recommend Mr. Clutch to my community and friends.

Avoid at all costs! Had I known that Mr Clutch were completely devoid of customer care, diligence and professionalism I would have avoided them at all costs. Our Car was booked in for a clutch replacement at our local branch of Mr Clutch on Wednesday 17th July 2019. When the work was completed the car was taken for a test drive where they identified a knocking noise when the car was in motion. The car was then put back on to the ramp to be re-inspected. After the second test drive we were advised that the noise may be as a result of an issue with the brakes. We were given no further advice and left the garage In the days that followed we noticed an unusual sound coming from underside the car when driving. The car seemed to be rattling when in motion. This was particularly unnerving when driving my two young children to and from school. Based on the advice we were given regarding a potential issue with the brakes, we booked an inspection at a local branch of a well-known National Garage for Saturday 20th July. We did not initially mention the work previously undertaken by Mr Clutch on the Wednesday. When we arrived back to collect the car we were asked if we had recently had any work completed on the car to which we advised that there had been a clutch replacement a few days previously. My husband was then taken to the car and was shown that one of the bolts on the sub frame into the steering rack was not completely secure. This was clearly the source of the knocking noise that we had heard when driving. The Mechanic marked the exact bolt with yellow chalk to make it abundantly clear where the issue was and then we drove the car back to Mr Clutch which was approximately five minutes away. When we arrived at Mr Clutch the car was put back on to the ramp to be re inspected. It was at this point we were advised that the sub frame ‘does not need’ to be removed to replace a clutch. This was in complete contradiction to what we had been told when the work was originally completed on the Wednesday. When the check was complete, we were advised that the bolt was in fact completely secure. A bolt that was identified by a second independent garage as being loose only 20 minutes previously. This was all documented in writing by the Assistant Supervisor of the independent garage. They have subsequently advised that they are very happy to discuss this further given that it is also their professional integrity being called into question. The brakes were then subsequently checked and we left with no further explanation. It is my understanding that had the sub frame into the steering rack detached completely the consequences could have been catastrophic. This is a car that is used numerous times during the day and transports my children to and from school. I have since contacted the Customer Service team regarding my complaint and what has followed has been nothing short of appalling. They have been deliberately evasive, vague and non-comital. There has been a flat denial to acknowledge that there has been any wrong doing, despite written evidence to the contrary, a refusal to answer any of the questions I have raised, and a refusal to escalate my complaint internally. Apparently, there is no escalation process above the Customer Service team and no complaints procedure for them to send to me. After 14 pages of email correspondence, and two telephone conversations, I have now been advised to refer my complaint to the National Conciliation Service for their independent review as it is unlikely that an agreement will be reached between us.Given that we have written confirmation and proof from an independent garage, I find their arrogance and complacency quite simply astounding It is also worth mentioning that we were quoted almost £200 more for the clutch replacement in person. It was only when we advised that we had requested an online estimation a few hours previously that they agreed to honour the original quotation. I think the way that any Company handles such serious complaints speaks volumes about the kind of organisation they inherently are. I could not be more disappointed that we put our trust in a company that clearly has no regard whatsoever for their customers.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Had a new clutch put in by these people less than a year ago, on the way home from their garage it went again. The recovery guy said it hadn’t been bled. He recovered my vehicle back to them where they then kept it another 2 days (they had it four days in total). As I write this I am sat broken down once again with no clutch. What an absolute joke these people are. Do yourself a favour and go to a proper mechanic !

Branch manager ROB made everything "BAD" I phoned ROB regarding oil, oil filter and air filter replacement query "labour only" for £40. I supplied my parts and arrived to Hemel Hempstead branch on the 03/07/2019 at 15.00 with my friend. Air filter did not fit what I bought and Rob told me to supply the correct part and come back again. I said "ok, I ll come back ASAP" and paid £40 cash, got my receipt then we left. I just visited Hemel branch today after I ordered and received correct air filter part. Air filter replaced apprx. in 10 mins as a part of our deal but ROB requested me to pay additional £10 for this and I said I did not get the money with me as it was a part of our deal. He did not allow me to finish my sentences he started being rude with very unprofessional manner, shouting tone and said "Take your car keys and don't come here again" I tried to explain again and said "please check your notebook and you will see what you wrote there". He still did not listen and interrupted me and repeated that "don't come here again". This person makes Mr Clutch brand quality lowered. He does not know how to speak and deal with a customer. He must replaced with a new manager ASAP. Totally disaster and loser! I strongly NOT RECOMMENDED to visiting HEMEL HEMPSTEAD branch if ROB works there.

Since having a new clutch fitted to my converted vivaro camper van in March 2018 (which was a bit of a saga at the time, having to return several times for further work & adjustments) the clutch has now gone onto to last only 15 months & 15,000miles (so now out of their 1year warranty period) Hence, I have been told by the branch that I now need another new clutch! Feeling very cheated and going onto speak to their head office about the situation - I have been advised by them of the possible reasons that our clutch has failed: 1) the way it is driven - not sure what this means exactly.... but assume it suggests heavy clutch use - my vehicle has been driven for leisure purposes only and is not driven in any way hard. 2) more than one person drive the vehicle and that drivers have different 'driving techniques' therefore the clutch may not perform as well?! My vehicle is driven by me 90% of the time with one other driver on the insurance policy who drives on the odd occasion. 3) to do with the roads or the area being hilly..... my vehicle spends most of it's time on level ground - so I don't believe this to be relevant in my case. The conclusion: I have been offered 10% discount on another new clutch fitted by them. Somehow, I don't think I will be taking them up on this offer! The only next step is to pursue my statutory rights via trading standards, is a new clutch only expected to last 15,000 miles in my case? I can only say, based on my own experience, that if you have a clutch fitted by Mr Clutch, be prepared to replace it in the near future..... it is tempting to use them as they are competitive on price but the old saying definitely stands in this case "buy cheap, buy twice!"

Terrible company. Had an MOT pass when there was an ABS light constantly on which is a certain obvious failure, After complaining straight away on the same day of picking up the car and even sending a video of the issue to head office, was told that they were not interested as i couldn't prove it was happening before the MOT !. Unbelievable. Currently seeking legal advice. Incompetent company. They also left the rear light fascia loose, with screws missing and almost certainly cut corners on a full service but cannot prove that one just yet

YOU WILL BE SHOCKED YOU WILL BE SHOCKED - BE AWARE - READ TILL THE END!!!! Greed: I went to this brand to do my clutch. After they quoted me nearly £400 - with warranty, I decided to take my car in. They called me the next day to say IF i do not replace the flywheel and other bits costing around £1000 now in total then my Clutch warranty will not be valid. Where is £400 and where is £1000? thats more than double... wonder why? Misleading before sending the car in: They didn't tell me my warranty will be void if 'other parts if found faulty' was not replaced. Scaring me with scaremongering tactics, apparently my car is in a vulnerable position (but within tolerance) if i ONLY CHOOSE to fix the clutch and nothing else. Resulting in clutch failure and breakdowns, covering NO WARRANTY if I only choose to do the clutch. I was told it can (maybe) damage the clutch instantly coming off the ramp. Thats what they guy impersonated over the phone. I then called Head Office: A very rude lady looked at my recordings and never considered what i was complaining about. Saying the same thing like a robot, not helping at all and raising her voice, constantly talking over mine. Her argument was - If the flywheel doesn't get changed then the warranty of the clutch is void. Me: My argument was clear: Why didn't Mr. Clutch tell me this from the start? Not in any phone call or when I was in there faculty did they mention that if there is another problem with the car then unfortunately, the warranty of the clutch will be void. At the end of all this they told me to take my car BACK and pay £240 for labour cost. They wont replace the clutch now. So I was forced into getting it towed to another local garage. That cost me another £150 Total loss: £390 - and still my car has a clutch problem, not solved yet but... I am really upset with Mr Clutch and i demand my money back. I was a good customer that was treading in a very unfair manner. Shame on you Mr. Clutch - I am now seeking legal advise and definitely will be taking this further to Small C C. If anyone has any advise or have been treated the same way, please contact me so I can build more a case against them. Trading standards have been informed with UK watch dog

Mr Clutch, Norwich doesn’t even deserve x1 star. Do not use this company. They rip you off, use pressuring tactics to persuade you to use their services, they do not road test vehicles, exercise poor workmanship and do not work to the level of skill they profess, being experts in clutches and gearboxes. Their customer service skills are also abysmal. In any professional relationship you should be referred to as “Mr/ Mrs/ Miss/ Ms…” unless they are given permission by you to use your first, Christian or other name, not immediately address you as “Mate” or “My Love”. My “mates” would not rip me off, carry out a shoddy job on my car, cost me my car and very nearly my life. My clutch went whilst driving to work in July 2018. I called my garage but they had most of their mechanics on summer leave so wouldn’t have been able to carry out the work for weeks and advised I tried someone competitive in Norwich. I found Mr Clutch (its in the name, isn’t it, specialists in clutches and gearboxes). The recovery chap, who put my car on the lorry, said that there was nothing wrong with my gearbox. Later Mr Clutch called me to say that the gearbox had gone too. When they showed me the gearbox there was a clean, shiny, silver break, whereas the rest of the gearbox was caked in over a decade of road grease and dirt, as if the break had just happened. I found this suspicious but of course could not prove anything. Mr Clutch told me that they had a replacement part but that I would have to make a decision by that afternoon. I felt pressured as I need a car for work and knew that my garage wouldn’t be able to get to it for weeks. They quoted £1,300 for a re-conditioned (although initially I was told “new”) clutch and gearbox. My mistake was saying yes to them. I collected the car after a few days and within less than 48 hours (it may even have been the same day!) when driving home, round the Northern Distributor bypass (so in no position to turn back and they were closed) I realised that I had no 5th gear and that 4th felt like 2nd. This was quite a terrifying drive home for me. When I arrived home I only got so far round the drive as I realised that I had no reverse either and needed assistance from neighbours’ in the morning to move my car so that I could drive straight in to Mr Clutch. When I arrived the manager, Shaun immediately said “It’s your Selector”. All I knew of the Selector at this stage was that it was part of the gearbox/ clutch scenario. I asked him why this had not been quoted for in the initial quote. His tone completely changed at this point and he said that they didn’t “normally quote for a Selector unless there is a problem with it”. This Selector didn’t just develop play overnight! He was expecting my return. I was at the end of my tether with this shoddy organisation by this stage so said I that they needed to sort it; I had paid them £1,300 to fix my car and it was not fixed! At this point I got a “Madam, your car was not driveable when it came in” to which I retorted that on the contrary I had driven it 18 miles and apart from the noise and bad smell it had felt far safer to drive than the state they’d returned it to me in! Mr Clutch gave me a “new” Selector (later I found out that it was second hand), about a week later as we were “at the mercy of the courier” in delivering the part. We don’t live in the 1800s so a courier coming from their depot in London to their branch in Norwich does not take several working days when asked for overnight delivery. I had to make several trips to my garage for this “new” Selector because by this stage I just did not trust Mr Clutch. My garage confirmed that this Selector had play on it. I didn’t want to use Mr Clutch again but didn’t feel it right to make someone else clear up another’s mess so I went back to Mr Clutch who agreed to get me another Selector. They confirmed that it would be second hand again as they are expensive and this is the second time they’d be giving me another one “free of charge” (not free for me with all the bus fares and disruption to me and my work and trips to my garage), expecting me to be grateful for the months of upheaval and returning a car unsafe to drive. They also issued a document to me stating that this was the last one that they would give me ‘in full and final settlement of any claim’. I’m afraid that this statement isn’t worth the piece of paper it’s written on because in law both parties need to agree to this statement. Again, I had to wait about a week “at the mercy of the courier”. I suggested they find a new courier. Mr Clutch also said that I needed new Selector cables as mine had play on them. Yet another piece of the clutch/ gearbox/ Selector scenario which they should have looked at and advised upon at the outset, in July, not November. After this next “new” Selector was fitted I went straight back to my garage who confirmed that this third Selector also had play on it, as did the Selector cables. I decided at this stage to get my garage to quote for all the work and that I would make a decision whether to present this to Mr Clutch to put right as per the quote or whether to get my garage (who can be trusted) to carry out the work and sue Mr Clutch for the costs and potentially all the other costs attributed to them failing to fix my car as promised in July. Intermittently I was still having problems getting into and out of 5th gear on Selector no.3. Upon the last visit to Mr Clutch in November they also invalidated my warranty by writing the mileage as 7,000 miles under the actual (and about 4,000 less than their previous sign-off). Sure this could be a “mistake” but given everything else, I doubt it. If this is an offence and anyone considers worth reporting then please advise who I could contact. Unfortunately, before I could get the quote for the Selector and cables (that should have been dealt with in July), on 1st December, I was driving to a friend near Wroxham. Yet again, I’d been having problems getting into 5th gear and upon approaching and anticipating a bend I tried to come out of 5th gear but could not. The roads were very greasy and wet that day. I went into the bend in 5th gear, the wheels lost traction causing me to skid, hit the bank several times, skid across the road, up the other bank, hit a telegraph pole and roll. No one knows how I managed to climb out of my car alive and largely unscathed, apart from being a mess mentally and emotionally about what I had just been through. I put it down to being in a well-built German car with a body cage. I have been driving for 15 years and know my driving to be safe. The fact is that if I had been able to get out of 5th gear it would not have happened. Had I not gone to Mr Clutch I would still have my car, fully repaired, to a good standard, driving beautifully, not sitting here without my beautiful car, the other side of a devastating crash. This company has cost me 5 months upheaval, the best part of £2,000 in repairs and investigation for an unfixed, shoddy job, which has resulted in the loss of my car and nearly my life. Do not use this company. They will rip you off, exercise poor workmanship and not carry out work to the level of skill that they profess. I know that many share my views and have had similar experiences. I honestly don’t know how the people responsible can sleep at night. I know there are a lot of bad people out there but I cannot understand or empathise with cheating people in any way. I have learnt my lesson and will never use this or any other mechanic again unless I know them to be reputable. I had a sickening feeling in my gut every time I spoke to/ thought of or processed anything to do with Mr Clutch. I should have listened to my gut. It is always right. This company is just wrong.
