We bought car insurance excess with yourselves, however we are still awaiting a refund from the company you handed it to called "claimez' we have sent them all the paperwork they have asked for four times. We travelled in August and it's now end of Jan and they still haven't refunded us.

Hi Natalie, Thanks for your review. We would be really happy to get involved here - but your review is the first we knew of any issue. As a comparison site we don't get details of any claims - so you would have submitted the claim via the insurer you took the policy out from. Normally these are settled within days, a month at the outside, so I have no idea what the issue is here. We have tried to call you (but could not get through) you and emailed you to try to get more details and as soon as we hear from you we will take the matter up with the insurer to get this sorted. Waste of my time. Had to answer all the questions only to be told I can’t be covered because I live on the Isle of Man. So I went elsewhere and obtained coverage

I cannot find a call to or from your number or a email to you – and I am wondering how we delivered poor service. Hi You don't need to - all personal data fields are optional - but their are really good reasons for us asking for them - here are three: 1. We cannot collect user reviews with an email address - and as this is one of the top liked features of our service removing the email collection would make our service worse for many - as the reviewer a few hours later than yours says. 2. We cannot help all those users who lose / cant remember if they bought / cant remember which company they used who contact us for assistance. 3. We cannot help users who would like our support when making a claim if we cannot demonstrate that the user used us to purchase. 4. Our quickbuy process, which is praised consistently in reviews, relies on us collecting unique details during the application. We will therefore carry on as we are as we know the pros significantly outweigh the cons but thank you for for letting us know of your feelings as we will take it into account again during our next site refresh. I would stress gain, as we say on the site your email address is never passed to third parties except to process your application - and we never sell users data.

A number or prices were given from the same companies with no apparent difference in cover. I then discovered that the 'different' providers were the same company using more than one brand name so not really any competition

Thanks for your comments - and subsequent email exchange to dig a little deeper here. The issue here was that you had selected a filter - which had removed a lot of companies as they do not offer the feature that you were after - Icelandic Ash Cloud cover. Additionally it appears that you had not noticed that one of the policies covered a single trip , whilst the other, from the same company offered annual cover. Just to reassure anyone reading this we have only two companies with different brands (both who offer a cheaper basic policy, and a more premium offering) and all the remaining brands of which there are many are very much independent of each other and highly competitive. It is this competition that results in prices through our service being up to 30% cheaper than going directly to the insurer. The Moneymaxim Team

Very good, no problems, as long as they don't contact me or lose my details to some annoying web trawler I'll be well happy. Sorry, had to change it, some scammer has already used my details to call me. MoneyMaxim - you need to improve your server security.

To reassure you all data on our servers is fully encrypted and locked down, and we only have secure links to the insurance partners to prevent any leakage. We process hundreds, sometimes thousands, of requests a day in this way. We can see no evidence of any breach in our security. We have contacted you to try and work out why you have us as the culprit here. Our feeling is that this is an unhappy (for us) coincidence. We also have many users who use a unique email address for every website they use - and in our 14 years of existence have never had a compliant from any one of them suggesting we have been the source of any leak. I am sure they would have told us if such a situation occurred as they would have a clear line of sight as to who had shared their data. I hope this reassures you as to our technical probity.

We have tried to contact you as we are confused by your response - it appears to relate to a car rental booking? Unfortunately we have been unable to speak - so cannot comment - other to say that we cannot see any evidence of the information being incorrect on our site, and are not sure why you might have been denied the car. Hi, We have tried to contact you already as we are most concerned here. We do not, ever, spam users. We send an email with the quotations details following a request (you made two requests so would have got two emails), and then might ask for feedback regarding the service so we can improve it. Both of these are explicitly mentioned and agreed to in the quote process. We never share our users data so would not be responsible for any third party activity either That, it - unless you have asked to sign up to our newsletter - and as you didn't you will never hear from us again! Hi Darren We did both call and write to you to try and help here - but the price matches to the penny. We think that on arrival on the partners website you might have entered an extra day, as the insurer works in 24 hour periods rather than calendar days. As you are returning the vehicle earlier in the day than when you are picking it up it will save you a days insurance. This would have worked through had you got to the payment page, but I think you make have stopped as soon as you saw what you thought was an incorrect price. HI Thomas, I am afraid vehicle excess insurers offering European van hire cover are few and far between. The number of people wanting the hire a van for a European road trip is very small - and that's why most insurers do not feel it worthwhile to create such a product. We did display one to you but it is expensive (as van claims are more frequent that those for cars), and has an excess and I notice you did not click out to the insurer, so I guess you decided it was not for you. We are actually in the process of both carrying out due diligence on a second option and are also talking to another insurer about them developing a European van excess policy, so I am hopeful that we can can come up trumps for you in the future, but as at today I am afraid we can't. Tried to purchase car hire excess insurance. Got as far as the payment stage before being told that the policy was not available. I tried to send a message but that failed too. Needless to say I bought a policy elsewhere

Hi Gordon, Thanks for both your review, and your time today on the phone during which we discussed the issues you faced. We identified that they were not with Moneymaxim, but the insurers website to whom you clicked out to. Firstly there wan in issue accepting PayPal payment and then in contacting the insurer. We have contacted the insurer and they are investigating this further, as its does seem to be very specific to your case (we made a number of other sales through that insurer on the day you used them) Hopefully we can get to the bottom of the matter and save anyone else getting similarly frustrated, but I can assure you that it is very much an exception rather than rule when these 'tech' difficulties arise. The website was fine but when I went through to the insurer carhirexcess.con the online payment function was not working and when I phoned through the price offered was much higher. As a result I went to Holidayextras and got a great deal at the original cost.

How frustrating - this should not have happened. As with many companies at present, Carhireexcess have had occasional issues as the world moves to stricter payment protocols for card payments including 3DS (where a code is sent to your phone so your payment can be processed). However even if any issues occur they can 'set' any payment as a Moneymaxim introduction, and therefore get you the discounted price our users qualify for. Carhireexcess have asked us to apologise to you for the inconvenience you suffered - and are ensuring that all their team are fully aware of the correct procedure to follow. Fortunately, this is a very very rare occurrence - and therefore very unlikely to repeat itself, but if you did face another such incident please do let us know at the time and we would have had it fixed in a jiffy.

Hi and thanks for the feedback We can see that you ran the quote on our site fine, and then clicked out to the Insurer Big Blue - where we assume the issue occurred. We have tried to replicate the issue you faced but it all seemed to work fine when we tried it. Possibly there was a momentary connectivity issue when you tried it, but we have written to you to offer our assistance and hope you managed to find a suitable alternative policy. The first thing I would suggest when you purchase a policy online is to always check your junk mail, trash, spam filters, just in case it popped in there. If not, by contacting the insurer, they will be able to check from there end, the application you would have completed on their site, the purchase and also to do a trace on your payment. Got a quote but was not able to purchase, when clicking the button it done nothing. Just as useless at the hire company that took the money and then told me there was no availability.
