Excellent course. Clear, concise and definitely will help with my minor surgical skills in practice

I really enjoyed the course. It was really well-delivered by Mike and Duncan. Their enthusiasm and generally good energy levels made them extremely engaging to listen to and learn from. The content was good and there was a good mix of theory and practical. Lots of well spaced breaks to help us maintain concentration. Very good indeed - would recommend!!!

This minor surgery course was informative, enjoyable and I couldn’t recommend it enough. As a novice looking to get into minor surgery and eventually set up my own service at my practice, this course covered everything I needed to gain the knowledge, confidence and practical experience I needed. From the logistics and practicalities of setting up a service, to the hands on practical teaching and practice, this course addressed it all. All in a supportive and friendly atmosphere that you’d enjoy as a GPST with no experience, to a refresher for someone who’s been operating for years. The tutors are approachable, experienced and knowledgable, and the course ran smoothly from start to finish. 10/10, couldn’t recommend enough.

An excellent course which covered all the important aspects relevant to steroid injections in primary care. The ability to practice injection skills was the highlight and has given me the confidence to start giving steroid injections in my practice.

Thank you to the facilitators of this course. They are all clearly very experienced in the subject matter they were teaching both from the theoretical and practical perspective. I really appreciated the opportunity to practice the skills on a dummy before letting myself loose on a real person! A real course with real other people was also amazing after the "zoom" world we have inhabited for so long. Fabulous venue too. I feel confident now to start putting joint injections into practice, although a little terrified also!

Very educational day lead by experts, the theory and practical aspects to the day have made me feel confident to identify conditions and identify those patients that would benefit from injection. I now feel able to practise a variety of joint injections where appropriate and will use the knowledge I've gained today in my professional practice.

The joint injection course is too hurried. I worry about what I witnessed in delegates - a clear lack of competency was observed in the practical sessions and I can't be sure that I leave competent to perform the procedures. This should not be a tick box attendance exercise, some proper assessment of competency would be better, and there are just too many delegates per staff to safely and reliably impart skill.

I went on the Minor Surgery Skills course in Birmingham in June 2022. Fantastic two days. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot. Mike and Duncan, our trainers, were great. They explained things clearly in a relaxed atmosphere and with great humour! I would certainly encourage anyone thinking of doing such a course to book with Medical Skills Course, especially if you are lucky enough to get Mike and Duncan as your tutors!

Excellent course. Well presented. I came away with increased skill in the procedures demonstrated. This is more than I can say for many courses where lots of information is presented but I felt I learnt very little. Thank you to your team who put so much energy into delivering the material.

Really excellent course. No nonsense and succinct but also entertaining. Good hands-on experience with foam pads and fake skin with mocked up lesions like epidermal (not sebaceous!) cysts and lipomata. Variety of useful stitches taught and assessed. Although I have been doing minor surgery for about 20 years there were still a good number of learning points for me and several changes to practice. Many thanks to the whole team.
