“Disappointing to be honest. Ordered a number of hinges and door latches and paid for next day delivery. On the day of delivery I received an email to advise there was a delay and the items wouldn't be delivered for another two days. I then received an email on the day they were being delivered to say that all items are discontinued and that the order was now cancelled. I received a refund but was quite frustrating that they still had discontinued items for sale on the website. Ended up having to go to a local B&Q instead.”

“I am a regular customer of Maxwells although my recent order WEB63451 placed on the 1st Nov 16 was the first on line purchase. Your web page advertised if order was placed before a certain time of day it would be delivered the next working day. Order was placed on Tuesday 1st Nov at 11.28am but delivery was not expected until Friday 4th Nov between 10am and 2pm as detailed in your confirmation email. Then on Friday the 4th i received a phone call informing me that the delivery was cancelled and rearranged for the following morning Saturday the 5th. There were 16 items on my order the largest being 7 internal doors with the rest being made up of smaller items with the exception of 1 x 7.5 Litre of Crown Pure Brilliant White Silk Emulsion which is rather bulky. The driver gave me a cardboard box which had an invoice taped onto it which due to its size could only have contained the smaller items. Then after bringing in the doors the driver returned to his van and i was expecting him to bring in the 7.5 litre pot of paint but he got into his cab and was ready to leave when i approached him and asked about the paint. His response was that he was only the delivery driver and had picked up what was there at the depot and not to worry about it as you would sort it out. i asked him if there was a receipt that i needed to sign and he told me no. To conclude your next day delivery service has actually taken 4 days and on arrival 1 of the items is missing. All in all i have not been impressed with your performance.”

“Ordered timber to repair garden chair ready to use again next summer as old timber was starting to rot. Checked out repair kits on other sites but they were a lot more expensive and didn't look as good quality. The timber I ordered has a beautiful smooth finish ideal for a garden chair. Great price & fast delivery”

“ordered my door and paid for next day delivery, nowhere did it state it was a special delivery, i waited in all day to see an email saying it would not be delivered as it had to be ordered, then waited in again on the next delivery date, to receive another email saying it had been damaged and had to reordered, therefore leaving me paying for next day delivery waiting in 3 different days, and only being contacted via email, services not good enough. The door was also delivered on the back of a pickup, i dont think this was an ideal way to deliver a door with 6 glass panes in it!!!!!!!”

Our doors are not sold with a next day delivery service as they can only be sent around the North East via the Maxwells DIY drivers. This service is 3-5 working days. The order was placed on the 26th of October and delivered on 2nd of November.

“This was an excellent sharp, hard wearing, bow saw blade the Swedish make I've used before but I can only now get it from Maxwells. Excellent value at less than £3 before p&p - arrived early on 4th working day from order. Time to cut my winter wood !”

“Everything that could. See bullet pointed below. - Ordered Next Day Delivery, Didn't arrive on the next day - Waited 3 days, Still Hadn't arrived - Called Customer service was told i was going to get a call back. Never did. - Had to call on day 4 to get the order canceled and a refund. -Not had one apology for the service, the fact the order never arrived or the lack of communication. - I used to work for Trading Standards before moving on to owning this company and i have said if i didn't hear communication back, i would be reporting you on your 'Next Day Delivery Service' Which is falsely advertised.”

“Ordered 10 cans of paint for next day delivery. Website said that items were in stock. A few hours after ordering, I get an email from customer services saying that they only have 7 cans in stock, and that remaining 3 would be delivered a week later. Unacceptable. I also ordered 2 cans of wood varnish oil for next day delivery. These items were marked as dispatched yesterday, and we received a delivery tracking number. However, they were not included in the delivery we received today. We have had to make several phone calls to customer services to sort out these issues. I will not use this company again.”
