“So pleased to receive logs so quickly but, am a little disappointed with the quality this time. Quite a lot of bark which I’ve found difficult to light and it’s very smoky. Hopefully the rest of the box will be better. The hobbit logs are a good size for my burner.”

Hi Sue, Thanks for the review and I'm sorry to hear of your concerns! We don't remove bark from any of our firewood, but I think it's important to say that as we only sell beech and ash firewood, neither should have bark that causes much smoke or be difficult to light. Hi there, thank you for the review. We do appreciate that we are more expensive than the traditional firewood merchants but we don't strive to be the cheapest as quality, convenience and sustainability are all more important to us than cost. For example, our sturdy cardboard boxes cost a lot more than single use plastic nets, and as you can imagine, DPD charge us a lot for their next day delivery service. We do find some customers say that as our logs are such great quality, they burn hotter than cheaper alternatives so you use less, but that might not be the same experience for everyone! “Really easy to order and quick to deliver- just a shame that DPD dumped the box on the ground floor when it should have been delivered to the second floor”

“First time purchase. As reviewed by others the logs do have a good burn rate but I find they don’t burn hot enough unless you get your log burner up to temperature with other logs first. I’m not at all disappointed but it’s a hefty price tag for a box of logs no matter the quality. I could buy twice the amount for an alternative for the same price and they would last no less time.”

Hi Matthew, I'm really sorry to read this review, that's definitely not what we expect from our logs - they're dried to around 15% moisture so they shouldn't be taking time to catch or burn efficiently. Do you have any logs left at all? “Next day delivery was great but logs were smoky so must have been damp . Will use again hopefully just got wet on delivery ?”

Hello, thanks for your review. Please reach out to us directly and we're happy to rectify any issues. Our producer recently achieved less than 14% moisture content on their Woodsure testing programme and all wood is batch-tested for moisture, so I would be very surprised if the logs were damp but we are always happy to help. “Whilst am happy with logs I think the boxes are too heavy for the couriers to carry from their van to my front door. They manage but I don’t like that they must do that so will not continue to buy the logs.”

Hi Kath, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad you're happy with the product and will be sorry to see you go. All of our boxes are around 24-26kg, which is well within the DPD weight limit of 30kg. As part of their employment contract, all of the drivers agree to handle parcels up to 30kg and are trained to safely lift and carry boxes within that weight limit. Every driver will be handling and delivering hundreds of heavy parcels every month, from lots of different companies. Thanks Heather

“Wood is good quality but they were supposed to arrive ready to use in my Gozney Roccbox pizza oven and unfortunately most of the pieces were just too big (most pieces are too long and many were too thick).”

Hi Andrew, I'm so sorry, it sounds to me like someone has mis-labelled your box and you were in fact sent the kindling for Ooni Karu, which we cut longer and thicker. I'm sending you an email now, we'll send you another box out today which is our kindling cut and graded for Roccbox, we 100% agree you should be able to use every single stick straight out of the box. “Good service, and good message on sustainability, but the product is just ok. The charcoal doesn’t last long enough for long cooks. I typically have to use twice as much as (for example) the Kamado Joe XL charcoal.”

“Love the busines plan and the eco aspect however I found the wood itself was chopped too small for my burner and therefore impacted on its performance”

Hi Amy, So sorry to hear the product wasn't quite right for your appliance. We looked at a lot of options and unfortunately, anything thicker was impossible to pack efficiently to make the most use of space in a cardboard box. Thicker logs might be an option we're able to offer in the future, so please keep coming to us for your kindling and watch this space :) Heather & Paul
