“Useless. Absolutely rotten. There were mistakes on the application when it was received by the lender, which were only discovered by me, and corrected after much long and painful chasing - again, all by me. The whole thing took over TWO MONTHS to complete (from date of acceptance, not application!), during which L&C were nowhere to be seen. Eventually the lender's solicitor pulled out as they were unable to handle this particular type of remortgage and I had to get my own solicitor, meaning I paid a £750 legal bill for a supposedly 'fees-free' mortgage. So not only did L&C do nothing to expedite the snail's pace processing of the application; they didn't even recommend the right product - yet they still get their commission. I will never use this company again.”

“My initial contact was with a mortgage advisor grant Bilton who was extremely helpful & efficient. However I then got assigned (I'm not sure why) to a case manager Gemma o'connell who was useless. It took me 2 weeks of emailing her to chase the mortgage deed, in the end I contacted grant who sorted it in minutes. Initially completion of my remortgage was set for 1st Nov but it has taken so long to sort out it looks like it will be 1st Jan. I have never remortgaged before & felt I was not kept informed of what was happening or the process.”

“I have been using London & Country ever since they were recommended to me in 2004. I have never been disappointed. Their advice is always spot-on and they deliver what they promise - the best deal for you. I would make two points: 1. If your adviser recommends a small building society, don't be put off. I had never heard of the tiny building society (the Earl Shilton) who were offering us the best deal in 2004, but went with them and stayed with them through two further mortgage deals. The Earl Shilton is small but fast-moving with trusted local solicitors to them, who were also brilliant (and cheaper than all of our local ones). 2. If a London & Country adviser is not available on the day you call, don't accept their offer to put you through to one of their partner organisations. My experience is that those organisations are nowhere near as good. They do not have the same standards when it comes to doing everything they can for the customer. Stick with the London & Country advisers and you will not go wrong.”

“Provided an excellent personal service with frequent communication about the case. Very professional at all times. My only negative comment is that we had many requests to send various documents and sometimes duplicate requests to send the same info. It took a long time to keep scanning and printing forms to send at various time points.”
