After visiting the Beverley, East Riding store I was treated quite appallingly by the shop manager who barked out 'Have you sanitised! on entering ,I had, thinking she must be talking to someone else I ignored this, she barked across the shop even louder HAVE YOU SANITISED! no politeness no finesse. Now lets be clear on this I am in complete agreement with these restrictions for staff and customer safety, what I will not put up with is this kind of rudeness and embarrassment especially when you are a potential buyer in their premises, there is a way of dealing with this situation, politely! This manageress should, I hope, be severely reprimanded for this behaviour. I told her to forget it, my wife and I have spent a considerable amount of money in the Beverley store, not anymore.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your recent visit to our Beverly store. For the protection of our staff and customers we are asking everyone that enters the store to sanitise their hands, I apologise if this caused embarrassment but this is a safety procedure that we have put in place on government recommendation to stop the spread of the virus. I purchased a leather bag but unfortunately it is faulty I paid cash and didn’t keep the receipt. The bag has a Lakeland stamp in it and is still available to purchase so not that old but customer service will not help without a receipt despite it obviously being one of their products

Terrible Material Quality... Bought a Jacket from them and expected it would be fantastic. Sadly the material it was made from was incredibly thin and within 4 weeks it was falling apart. They refused to replace, Repair or refund and insisted that I had done something with it I ought not to have. One major tear happened when sat in my car seat driving and could not have been from anything other than the material rubbing behind my back... Gutted.

I bought an Aviator leather jacket 15 years ago at Windermere branch of Lakeland and I thought it was time to buy another as the 'old faithfulI' was beginning to look a bit tierd. I visited the York branch recently and what a disappointment. Nothing like the quality of the one I bought 15 years ago and about half the weight. If the quality improves to the level of my existing one I may buy another from you.

Hi David, I'm sorry to hear your thoughts on the diminishing quality of our jackets. Our latest range of Aviator jackets are made from UK sheepskin, and in our opinion are our best ever. UK sheepskin is naturally plump, well husbanded and as a result has minimal imperfections. If you feel our new jackets feel thinner, I'd love to have the weight of your 'old faithful', and then we can compare. If you're correct, the information will be fed back to our product team for next year's creations. Thanks

I bought a men's jacket with an original price of £169 reduced to £119 thinking I had bought a bargain leather jacket. When I got home I discovered on the care label that it's not leather but pu. There was no indication of the material on the sales stand or the sales ticket. It's not unreasonable to believe that when you go into Lakeland Leathers you expect to get genuine leather clothes not fake leather. I feel that I have been deceived by what I thought to be a reputable company.

Hi Ian, Due to popular demand we have for the last 5 years created a range of some of the most realistic faux leather and sheepskin products. In store these should have a swing ticket attached that states the jackets name, and the material, along with a care label outlining the washing instructions for our faux products. If these were not present, I can only apologise, it was by no means intentional, and the stores have been asked to ensure these labels are present on each item. Kind Regards Lakeland Leather

My husband was given some Lakeland Sheepskin mitts for Xmas. W He received a pair of M/L mitts which were too small even for me and I have small hands. On contacting Lakeland, they want to charge for the return saying that you have to scroll down further down the page to get the actual measurement. They would only return the postage if the gloves were not the measurement shown, which, in fact they are not. So they are going back. What happened to good will and Christmas spirit. I shall never use them!

Hello, The only mittens we sell are for women, there is minimal demand for men's mittens. As was explained on the telephone, 'women' is included in the description of the product and the dimensions are shown. We do not offer free returns, and could not offer an exchange as we do not have a men's mitten. Kind Regards Lakeland Leather

Beverley store - pathetic! Spitfire jackets all priced £299, assistant said there was a further 20% off so at £240 thought I will have one. Got to the till and was told they were £399 (despite all there stock priced at £299). Was offered 20% off but that still brought it to£320! So no thank you, suggest you get your act together!!

Leather gloves (Twin buckle) rapidly deteriorates and fray almost immediately with little or no use "chipping" away.Company advertises itself as makers of "unique highest quality luxury leather since 1955" yet the gloves I bought and have worn about five times look shabby and old within two months of use. I have bought far cheaper gloves from High Street brands which have lasted me over 13 years with no deterioration as they're accessories worn for only about four weeks a year intermittently.I will never shop from this brand again. Also awful customer services who takes forever to reply to emails and are extremely unhelpful. Shame on you all for trying to delete this review...it is an honest account and I will ensure this does not get removed. SHAME ON YOU!

My husband bought me a sheepskin leather jacket and it was to small I sent it back nd yes they exchanged it and posted the bigger size out my husband wrapped it up for Christmas which I never tried it on until Christmas day to which this one was still to small I posted an email to them stating I had sent it back explaining it was still to small I recieved email back saying they would exchanged as long as it had the tickets on and in the same state I recieved it in then I recieved another email saying no they won't exchange as coat had makeup on collar and strong smell of perfume and wear and tear on the sleeve 1 I don't wear makeup and 2 yes I had perfume on on Christmas day but not loads of it and Finnlay 3 wear and tear that's a laugh they posted the jacket back which Is no good to me plus it had a ticket on it saying £83 and I've paid£89.50 plus the cost ofpostageof £9.95 I will never buy from this company again so be very careful about buying from Lakeland leather

Bad experience with the first order! I’m at home all day but the Parcelforce delivered to the wrong address. They couldn’t do anything. I need to collect it by myself at the post office even I pay order for £169!

Unfortunately I had to return a leather coat we bought for our daughter at Xmas as she didnt like it, the product was lovely but the customer service in Street was appalling, the woman made us feel very uncomfortable returning an item, I will not attempt to shop in there again, she needs to wear a smile and be polite. No one was more disappointed than us at returning such a lovely present but she made it ten times worse!

I purchased a very attractive coat from your Windermere store, it was made clear of the ticket attached to this coat that there was a likely problem with the elasticated loops to fasten the coat. This I was prepared to accept thinking that at some point in the future this problem may have to be repaired. The shop made a phone call and the result was that if a problem did occur in the future they could carry out a repair and charge me accordingly. However within 1 hour of trying this coat on again the elasticated loop came away, I had not warn the coat simply tried it on. I returned the coat the following morning to the shop but was not offered a refund which I had requested instead they offered me a credit note as a gesture of goodwill. I said again that I wanted a refund but was told that was out of the question. I have bought a number of items at Lakeland leather but after this experience I will not set foot in any of your shops again.

The store were following the correct procedure for the sale of ' known faulty' items - and as you stated, did explain that the elastic could go. I've bought from Lakeland leather many times and the clothing is always excellent quality. Unfortunately I recently bought some moccasins (November 2016) and they are very poor. It is now May and the soles are both worn and split. Do not buy these slippers.

I ordered a pair of sheepskin mittens online for a christmas present, when they arrived they were faulty. I called head office to find out about exchanging these and spoke to Paul, who was very helpful. He explained the returns and exchange process and then informed me he could send these into my nearest store to exchange. He arranged for a pair to be sent to my nearest store (30 miles away) the next day. I went into the store the next day to exchange the items, however they had not been delivered to the store. The store was aware of this matter as Paul had sent an email regarding the items and informing them that I would be going into store to exchange them. A colleague in the store phoned Paul at head office to discuss this and asked for a couple of pairs to be sent into store on their next delivery. I was informed that they would be delivered into store the week after on their "Tuesday delivery". I told the colleague that I would go back into store the week after on the Thursday and left my phone number. I was told that I would get a phone call to let me know that they had arrived into store. I did not receive a phone call from the store. I went back into the store on the Thursday and when the items were eventually produced (only one pair) one of the mittens had a hole in it.

Hi Pauline, I'm very sorry for the wrong items being sent out to you. I believe I spoke with your husband on the phone and offered to collect the items, but he mentioned he was happy to take them to our York store and exchange them. I double-checked the correct coat was available in store and also spoke with him after he had done the exchange to make sure everything had gone okay and he seemed happy. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and under no circumstances would we expect any of our customers to be out of pocket for our mistake.
