I wanted the sgian dubh for our son's birthday (5th April) and ordered it early March. I understand that the snow held up delivery of supplies but I was assured that it would be sent immediately after Easter. However, when I phoned on 4th April, it was still not ready due to a machine breaking down. It was despatched on 9th April by Special Delivery but whoever addressed it left off the T on our post code (TN12 9TT) so it went to N12 (Finchley) so we didn't receive it until 11th April!

Hey Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We really did drop the ball on this one and I'm sorry for that. We don't run into problems very often and unfortunately it seems everything that could have gone wrong did. We did have an issue with the supply of materials and machinery not working and then as you say a mistake with the postage label. I'm pleased to hear that you were happy with the sgian dubh when it did make it to you and I hope it was a well received gift for your son. Really sorry about the delay in getting this to you ~Rachel

I had not received my order. At first FedEx stated that it was held up by customs in England 🇬🇧. Now they say it has been delivered, but I have not received it.

Hi there. Was pleased with my jacket except from the fact that the front button stitching fell off very early on in the night and it wasn't even a tight jacket at all. Very disappointing and annoying.

Hey Adam, that is really annoying. Really sorry about that. Our team are aware of this so it can be picked up with the supplier. We should also be checking these before going out. I received my order (a Prince Charlie jacket & vest). The vest was reportably a size 46" but was far too short by about 6" minimum. The Jacket was a little neat. I telephoned your customer services department and was told by a very nice lady that I should return the outfit and a replacement size 48" would be sent. She also advised me that she would send the returns details to me by e-mail so that I could return the goods via Royal Mail free of charge. It is now about 5 days later and I have not had any returns advice sent to me - very disappointing. My order number is KS-54937.

Mssrs Rachel, Claire.Eagle and Fox...I have at last received my small parcel via the postman .Because the company you use couldn't find my address.Even though one has to drive through my property to get to the village ..Yesterday as i was leaving a DPD van drove past i hailed him and asked why his mother company didn't have my address he said it was on his list and that he could see no reason it wasn't on their's ..I have not had any explanation as to why interpeople can't find my house..We will do our best to not have anything to do with them in future.. First, I asked Buy A Kilt what size I should buy if my waist was 36-38. They told me to buy 38-40. When the kilt arrived yesterday I measured it and it was measured 20" across the top front and back so doubled that would be 40" but the leather straps begin at 40" and go upward from there by another 4-5 inches. I wore two tee shirts, one dress shirt and cinched the waist all the way down to the first notch or hole on the leather straps. Unless I wear a belt this kilt will not stay on the body. The advice given was WRONG and the Kilt cannot be used by this Kilt Dancer with the RSCDS. My only choice is to give it away. It appears that I will not buy again from this company. I was very hopeful to have found a daily and weekly RSCDS Kilt for all of the men that dance in my three city classes. OOPS.

Hi Jerry, I'm sorry to hear you've been so upset by this order. Looking back on the advice given we were advising on the sizes given as 37-39". As the size 34" kilt only sizes up to a size 38" waist this wouldn't fit on the 39" measurement. The kilt sent out to you was a 38"- 40" kilt and sizes up to 42". When done up fully it will size a 38" waist. I don't want you to be without a kilt on our advise so I'll pop the next size down into the mail for you. I'd hate for you to think you'd been missold with bad advice but this was the best advice given the information we'd received. I do hope you'll allow us a second chance with a better fit ~Rach

I bought my tartan from Kinloch Anderson because it was not clear from your website whether your company delivered to Australia ( the Continent and North America were mentioned I recall), a lighter weight was available (more suited to the climate) and better price. I subsequently found that you ship a plaid brooch to Australia (which I am still waiting to receive). Not happy Jan,

The waist coats werefar too short in the body. I am not particularly large but the reached half way done my back. They are being returned

Delivery quotation was misleading and the actual arrival was 2 weeks later. Sizing information was misleading leading to product being too small. Offer information - regarding belt was misleading leading to the wrong item being ordered. Follow up service was concerned and adequate, as was refund process. Better to say no to an order than over promise and fail.

We do try to make it clear on the website how long each item takes to make and dispatch, I can see that normally your item does take around 8 weeks complete. Unfortunately the jersey's that were sent to me were not the same ones in the picture online. Hey were missing the two white stripes around the arms. So slightly disappointed as the real photo should have been posted rather than a photo that was not of the top. As we ordered it for an All Blacks game we did not have time to return it. So buyers beware - you may not get what you expect.

You wait for a long time (9 weeks), so you would expect that when your items are delivered that everything would be just so! If like me you will be disappointed the kilt arrived with its kilt makers stitching in place, the luxury sporran chain strap which was specked at being red backed, is black. Oh, and customer service could not get my name right!

Hi Lewis, I'm sorry to hear we've not impressed on your order. It was myself who had emailed you with the name Lee, so sorry I had taken this from your email. I can understand how annoying that must be. I sometimes get called Rebecca and that's not my name. Thanks for your patience whilst we made the kilt for you. Whilst we were ahead of the given completion date I had hoped to have it with you a little faster. The kilt is sent out with the pleats stitched to preserve them and hold in place, this is completely normal. Just pull at the end and this comes loose. I did check with our warehouse for your chain strap but I cannot see this. I will have another made up for you with the red backing. Watch out for this coming through the post. I hope that now that you have your kilt and outfit you feel great pride and joy when wearing it. Whilst your buyakilt.com experience didn't wow on this occasion I do hope your outfit does. I ordered a pair of tartan trews, when i received them they were the wrong size, i phoned up about it and they sent another pair and i had to return the original pair. I then received the 2nd pair and there was a mark on the trews i phoned up and spoke to them about it and was offered a 3rd pair which i rejected and am now waiting on getting my money back. I then had to return the 2nd pair which was a pain!!

We have now remeasured them all ourselves and rewritten the tags. We are really sorry if we have caused you an inconvenience at all, I can understand why you didn't want us to send out another replacement set. Firstly - this finished well but the stars I gave indicate how long this took and how much effort! It took 28 emails and 2 trips to the post office returning wrong sizes. As I am in Australia, I asked for the jacket and vest to be measured. The size chosen was duly sent, marked incorrectly and huge. The vest was also too big and it was the wrong tie. The company paid for the return post - PO trip number 1. I would vote 5 stars for Rachel in customer service who handled the messes that were not her fault. She was waiting to receive the items back so she could compare them and make sure to get the right sizing. Meanwhile someone sent another jacket, just the jacket, also too big. PO trip number 2. All return post was refunded by the company. She found a jacket and vest that measured as promised (1 size smaller than originally quoted) and they arrived today and hallelujah, they fit. And it's the right tie. This is way too much time and effort from me for a simple purchase. I asked for measurements to ensure a good fit and there seems to be a big lack of communication between customer service and the warehouse that sends the goods. The goods themselves are fine. Thank you Rachel, I am glad we got there.

Not your normal great service due to lack of stock at your supplier. But there was little or no information given by you without me contacting you to find out what was going on. At least it has arrived now and we are happy that it is here

I had ordered 2 scarves.One I got right.other was wrong.As I have no time to send it back I decided to keep it.I made a call to you, few minutes after receiving my order, later on I sent an email.No answer till today.I like what I got but wont order anything again.Why?Because I have no time to send wrong things back and don't want to get what you have in stock and cant sell.Thank you Mrs W Romanowska-Walczak

The wrong item was sent. On contacting the company I received a verbal apology and was advised to return the item and that a replacement would be posted out. To date this has not yet been received but I realise the Christmas post could be the reason. I hope this arrives before Saturday 20th as I hoped to deliver this as a present on that day.

I wish there was a rating between poor and normal. Shipping and purchase was amazing, very fast but the blanket is rough in texture and has an unplesant odor. I hope the blanket will soften and air out with use and time. The plaid is lovely in colour.

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I had somebody else mention about the odour recently so had checked the blankets on the shelf. As they leave us there is no smell, so I'm looking into alternatives for packaging. As it's something that occurred enroute I imagine it should air out. The blanket is a hard wearing rug and I do machine wash mine on a cool temperature (occasionally) It does soften over time. I hope this does happen and you get the perfect rug.
