“Renewal notice sent promptly by e mail & post , but no explanation given for the increase in premium by 12% without any claims. When queried , price reduced to a 10% increase , still without any explanation. A somewhat take it or leave it attitude o the phone. Why is loyalty not rewarded rather than penalised. Genuinely mystified.”

Thank you for your feedback and deciding to renew your policy for a further year. Insurers consider several factors when calculating the renewal price. Indexation, an adverse claims history and the customer making a claim within the last 12 months will usually drive an increase, but there are other, more subjective factors as well. These include insurers’ views on the various risks associated with the insurance they are providing, such as changes in their overall claims experience for a given property type or a review of the severity of natural disasters occurring in a given postcode. Finally, we would like to confirm that renewals are not mandatory and we contact our customers in good time with an offer of price for the coming 12 months. This gives them the opportunity to consider our terms and to shop around if they feel we are not offering value for money. “I have only just taken out a policy with i4me so cannot comment on the service regarding claims. However, customer service when setting up the policy was excellent.”
