Hi, Thank you for alerting us to this broken link on this page. We have now corrected it.
This website does not explain clearly how I apply for the buy-to-rent -scheme. I am currently homeless after breaking up with my partner I have some savings and a baby on the way I need somewhere to live so I can take care of my child and self during the week and weekends, I am currently in a good job but have not saved enough to get a morage

Hi Stefan, I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. With Rent to Buy you need to reach out to the affordable housing developer or association in your area. This has always been tricky to do but government has recently launched a new service to help. If you live outside London use this link - https://www.shared-ownership-scheme.service.gov.uk/find-organisations-selling-shared-ownership-homes. In London these types of properties are called London Living Rent and you can start your search here - https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/housing-and-land/improving-private-rented-sector/london-living-rent Please be aware that finding a Rent to Buy home is a bit of a lottery as there are so few of them in certain areas. You should also contact your local authority for help if you are at risk of homelessness.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you have had difficulty with our website. We have looked into it and everything is working well at our end. We work hard to ensure that our website loads quickly as we all know how frustrating a slow website can be. It may be your internet connection and where you logged in, which is a long long way from the UK.
no. Didn't help at all

The information was not as clear as the information I got from Which Finance. There were no percentages or amounts mentioned, no examples, they would have been helpful.

Not really helpful. I want to complain about a local scam involving several estate agencies and a local councillor. There seems to be no process for such scams to be reported, as requirements are to go the individual agents first. They will hardly put their hands up for false advertising and in the meantime, buyers are being conned.

Hi Christine, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. If you think the estate agents are acting illegally, you can report them to Trading Standards. You can do this via Citizen's Advice and here is the link to the simple form. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/report-to-trading-standards/ Best of luck, Paula
No. The valuation had a range of 250,000

Hi Sue, The valuation is meant to be just an estimate and is not designed to replace the expertise or local knowledge of a reputable estate agent. We all know that every property is unique and the value is ultimately the price a buyer is willing to pay. The automated valuation can be a helpful tool that is based on various data points, such as historic sold prices of the property and others in the area. It is possible that when there is less data available, e.g. where a property is in a rural area (less properties to compare against) or there have been little historic sales in an area in recent years, there are less things to measure and a valuation can vary to what an estate agent would say. Paula
it keeps putting popups that get in the way of reading the content. This is seriously irritating.
Helpful Report
Have you considered people don't like popups on websites?
Helpful Report
Of course we do. But we think on balance, having a pop up asking for a review works well. It allows us to hear from visitors about what they like and they don't like. We can then write or amend our content to help answer those burning homebuying and owning questions. Or deal with an annoying tech issue. Every review is seen by the entire HOA team. We love feedback.
Absolutely useless! Your prices are literally ten years out of date. Houses have literally sold for more than 150k more in the last six months!

I'm sorry that you didn't get the data that you wanted. Our valuation is meant to be a ball park figure and in no way meant to replace the expertise of a local estate agent. Our valuation is based on data such as actual historic sold prices of the property as recorded by the Land Registry. It is possible that when there is less data available, e.g. where a property is in a rural area (less properties to compare against) or there have been little historic sales in an area in recent years, there are less things to measure and a valuation can vary to what an estate agent would say. Our local estate agent finder may be a useful way to find the best agents in your area. https://hoa.org.uk/services/best-estate-agent/

not useful no info on levels of survey
Helpful Report
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't find what you were looking for. We have a comprehensive guide on House Survey types and costs. See https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/i-am-buying/what-sort-of-survey-should-i-have/ This page sets out what you should expect to get from the different surveys: RICS Level 1 (also known as a condition report), RICS Level 2 (Homebuyer report) and RICS Level 3 (full structural and/or building survey). If you are particuarly interested in the cost of these surveys in 2023, you can find this information on this page. https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/i-am-buying/how-much-does-a-house-survey-cost/ Warm wishes, Paula
No, it didn't answer my question and there is no way to contact someone who could
Helpful Report
I'm so sorry to hear that. We do try our best to publish relevant and independent advice to homebuyers, sellers and owners. But it can be tricky to anticipate specific questions. You can always send us a message with your question to hello@hoa.org.uk, leave a message using the chat box on our website or leave a comment on the relevant article. I hope you find what you are looking for! Paula
Annoying popup appears every 5 seconds in middle of the page in this site, prompting me for a review, so here it is.
