The worst service I ever had in my life!! I feel I have been robbed. - The job was supposed to take up to 5 weeks, but it was only completed after 6 months, yes 25 weeks!!! - It started very badly: several cancellations and reschedules... - Then they sent the wrong blinds (Twice!!) - For one of the rooms, we were looking for a complete blackout which was promised with a very expensive system combining blinds and curtains. Once installed, it was pretty obvious that that was not the case at all. There is a gap between the wall and the rail system holding the curtains which allows light in. This system we were sold is not really fit for purpose and we suspect that the combined system was sold just to ensure a bigger budget instead of fulfilling the needs that we had (which could probably have been achieved only with blackout curtains placed closer to the wall). - On top of that, the operating system is faulty. The rail system for the curtains is flimsy (the curtains are too heavy for the holders and can have trouble going through the connectors between rails), and got stuck several times. - Finally, when we told them that we were not satisfied with the work, they gave us less than 10% discount which is almost insulting for all the problems we faced with the installation. As a result, we still have light in our room, with a system that doesn't work well, we spent a lot of time pursing them to come and do the work and we paid a fortune for it.

Terrible Customer service and no Blinds in sight!! I have ordered with Hillarys previously and had no problem however I ordered my shutter blinds in April 2021 since then the order has been rescheduled twice with little after waiting a month of no contact I called Hillary blinds (Russell the accounts manager) they can't even give me a date to reschedule and he was rude and unprofessional on the phone. Hillarys this is terrible customer service and I will not be recommending anymore!

Measured incorrectly twice. Getting a response from them is shocking keep asking for pictures which have been sent 3 times 2months on from first fitting still trying to rectify.

DONT BOOK WITH THESE LIAR. OUR BOOKING WAS CANCELLED 1 time and today they were supposed to come, i took a day off for that, they just said: oh sorry the advisor forgot your appointment! How come an advisor can forget your appointment ??? SHAME ON YOU. I already wait 3 weeks because of your cancellation. Will gowith an other company. No way you get 1 penny from me!!!

Conservatory roof blinds fitted. Had to call back for repair to cord becoming detached. Engineer came. A month later the same blind broke again. After numerous emails and telephone calls still waiting for an engineer or call. Also the attachments for the Blinds pulled and bent the cladding on the internal roof struts and a engineer had to come and drill new fittings. I have been told they have no engineers as they are catching up on late deliveries from China. If I had know this product was made there I would not have bought them. They should stop the fancy tv advertising and concentrate on the customers the have.

What an awful experience, £2000 later taken from me blind in front room still not done 6 weeks after rest was fitted plus one room missed, I turns out wasnt on quote not that I was showed any piecework on the day. The fitter is now lying and I’m being forced to pay another £400for another blind otherwise my house won’t Match, I’ve had countless calls to there customer service who clearly have no powers to put things right. Blinds are expensive and not even great quality. Please please don’t use this incompetent company

I was replacing my existing blackout roller blinds in my bedroom, with perfect fit blinds. I had discussed at length with my consultant that the light seepage at the side of the blackout blind was quite annoying, as my neighbours have solar lights on all night, so it never truly gets dark outside at night. Also, the sun rises at that side of the house so we receive a lot of light in the morning. The consultant recommended the perfect fit blinds, which would stop all residual light leakage. Whilst reviewing the fabrics for the blinds he suggested the Marco fabric which I was pleased to find also came in blackout, as usually blackout fabrics are quite plain. I remember saying to my consultant that this would be much nicer than plain blackout fabric and he agreed and said this would look nicer for a bedroom. I didn’t note the name of the blind at the time, confident that my consultant had ordered the blackout version. After about a month, the blinds were ready and my consultant came to fit the blinds. Once I saw the final installation, I was surprised to see so much light coming through the fabric. I expressed my amazement to the consultant that these blackout blinds were not very dark. He stated they were not blackout but that this is what I had ordered. I was extremely confused. After my consultant left, I tried to call Hilarys to clarify and discuss however I was informed that they would need to speak to the consultant. During the next 3 weeks, my husband and I both suffered from disturbed sleep. I had to go out and buy blackout curtains to reduce some of the light coming into the now very bright room. Despite numerous calls and constant explanations to Hilarys of the events, I did not receive an explanation or apology from anyone on the team. Eventually I called my consultant again and explained that this was not what I had ordered. The consultant revisited my house and viewed the blinds again. He showed me the fabric swatch for the Marco Blackout version and stated that I had signed the order form for the Cinder Marco blinds but that the blackout was called Iron. He acknowledged that indeed I had discussed the light issue with him. He stated however that if the mistake was made by the consultant, they would be personally out of pocket for any refunds/exchanges, and the cost of my 8 blinds was approximately £1000. He said he would go away and see what he could do. After a few days he informed me that he couldn't refund/exchange for free, but he could provide a £400 discount on any future blinds I get done. I was left feeling like this was my mistake, but my only mistake here was not to double check the consultants work when he placed the order. I suspect that he selected the wrong fabric name in error as he was quite aware that I wanted blackout blinds. I am unhappy with the treatment I have received as I have been a customer of Hilarys for over 10 years now, and have furnished nearly all my windows with Hilarys. The whole experience has been quite upsetting for both myself and my husband and I have now been forced to approach another company to replace these blinds, as I do not feel that Hilarys have taken my issue seriously or bothered to look into this issue for an acceptable resolution.

Salesman.....Very rude I advised him from arriving at my house it was for a quote only, he said I was wasting his time. I told him to leave, 1 hour later I had chosen my blinds with a price I felt was satisfactory, 2 weeks later they were fitted. Edges of blinds shabby and happy not flush, and unless you pay extra the draw string is very cheap. I felt uncomfortable in the fitters company, I would never ever use them again ever. I sd to him what if I'm not happy with yr service, he said to my face, I was a difficult customer, but then told me I was pretty and lived local. No harm done but I did feel uncomfortable from start to end. Be ashamed Hillarys I have never had a response from that day to this.

Disastrous from start to finish. Although the Sean the fitter was great. But when things went wrong there was no after care. Didn’t know from one week to the next when blinds would come. Brilliant advertising for this company but so misleading. Should spend more money on there customers service than advertising. So disappointed. Wish I’d gone else where.

Disgraceful customer service from this company after a number of emails sent to them, with no acknowledgement at all. Blinds first fitted by a complete incompetent fitter, who obviously never attended their supposed training courses, holes left in window reveals, fittings just pulled out. Wrong measurements taken, blind came wrong way round, mess left everywhere, screws, Raul plugs broken and left on the floor. A complete disgrace, and no response from customer service/ queries. Avoid this company like the plague!!!

I just don’t like the plastic fixture at the top of the blind. Plus the chain is infuriating as the plastic bits that connect one of the chain to another kept snapping off and now the whole chain has come off, great. I wish that we’d got basic roller blinds from fed local Diy shop, they are a lot cheaper and in my opinion more substantial!

The advisor was friendly and efficient, and I was pleased with the pleated conservatory roof blinds initially. However, the way they were fitted made them a perfect flytrap. In a week there were hundreds of flies in them. Hillarys gave completely useless advice on cleaning them. (Blow them away with a hair dryer – I wish!) The woman I spoke to was rude and unhelpful. The company refused to remove and refit them. They ignored further letters. In the end a rival company gave me instructions for doing it myself. I would never use Hillarys again.

This is a follow up to a previous comment last month. The shoddy service continues as today I was phoned by Hillary's and told that we still owe them money! The balance was paid 9 weeks ago before fitting. After giving them the payment reference number, they suddenly found the payment and said it was because the reference number did not match their customer number! What an utter shambles and extremely stressful when you are told from an invoice that you haven't paid in full. Absolutely appalling customer service and we will never ever use them again or recommend them to others. Hillary's, you should be ashamed

Absolutely awful customer service. They like to take your money but if you need them to come back and refit due to incorrect fitting in the first place they never get back to you with a date. There is absolutely no way I would recommend them. Stay well away. We've even had a fitter turn up at our door unannounced,not to do the job but just to look at it when he was supposed to have fitted our blinds the week before and ended up cancelling 2 hours before he was due to turn up. A big no no.

If I could give a minus review I would! Absolutely shocking sales tactics, customer service and complaint handling. Ordered shutter blinds Feb 2021 and promised fitting in July after I had completed house decorating. Paid deposit and since then nothing! Nader! Nowt! Fitting date now promised Jan 2022 am still getting up from the floor with that shock. Called today to ask for fake sale and told delivery and fitting 6-12 weeks from order. Total lies!! Avoid this company like the plague, I am going legal to get deposit back and would love for them to take me to court. BBC Watchdog here I come. Juvenile, obnoxious, unsympathetic sales and operations team - I have no words to describe customer service department. You are all simply shocking and Hillary Blinds management team should all be sacked.

I placed an order for shutters in April 2021. Sales visit went well, site survey follow quickly, detail order initiated. Fitter told me that shutters are custom made in China then shipped over so the usual 6 weeks timeline might be longer. I asked why they weren’t made in UK and he replied: more expensive and people won’t pay the prices. I said that if it meant quicker service I would pay it ! Since April, the first call advised me that the container ship was held up by the blocking of the Suez Canal - well, it was an unusual event so I accepted the delay. The next call told me that the ship had docked at Felixstowe but there was a problem with the container paperwork so the ship was going to off-load on the Continent and the container would be driven to UK, would take about 4 weeks to get to their depot. At the beginning of September, having heard nothing, I sent a firm but querying e-mail asking when exactly would the shutters be fitted as the summer was almost over now ! Writhing 5 days I received a phone call telling me an installer would be in touch. I heard nothing. Finally, after me sending a really strong shot across the bow e-mail weekend 25/26 September, I received an apologetic reply yesterday saying the service was below what they expected and that the installer would be in touch. 7pm last night (Monday) I get a text from the installer asking in Wednesday morning would suit - I of course agreed, mentally shifting my own plans to accommodate, less than 30 mins later, new text, would Thursday work too, if so will confirm Tuesday. I of course confirmed either day, just let me know soonest. Today, Tuesday, 4pm I text to get confirmation which day, only to be told ‘can’t make Wednesday’ I replied, ‘so see you Thursday then’. I have had no acknowledgement so the fitting is up in the air again ! I suspect both the Sales staff and the fitters are doing their best within the company guidelines, but if they are pressured to do too many jobs within each working day, impacted by travelling time between jobs that is made worse by all these 20mph speed limits and local traffic calming measures, they resort to doing hasty work that ends up below standard. I certainly wish that I had read customer comments before, but know the company had been around since the 70s and seem to be popular, I decided to go with them expecting them to be experienced - my bad ! I hope that my shutters will be getting installed soon, the pandemic, Brexit, petrol shortages, all of these things can be used as excuses, but reputations stand and fall only by the results and how a customer feels at the end of the process, if there are no recommendations made then new customers will not be obtained and it is the company that loses out in the end. All we can do as customers is spread our dissatisfaction far and wide to drive them to make changes for the better ! Good luck everyone !

Interesting to see that I have the same complaint as other customers on here. Ordered shutters in May. It was only after I paid the 50% deposit required that I was advised it was a five month delay for fitting. I’ve now received a message to say it is a further six weeks and that up to 10,000 orders are held up. Apparently because of Brexit? I rang customer services. Particularly Unhelpful. Apparently they do not have managers to speak to! And I was told what would be the point when the manager would say the same as the advisor I spoke to. What appalling customer service. Hillary is a holding onto a huge number of deposits. This cannot be right.

Disgusting customer service - cancelled twice on the day of fitting, this time half an hour after the fitter was supposed to be there and we’ve got 4 young kids to try and get to sleep with no coverings on our windows. Attitude of customer service was awful and vague as to when the fitter would eventually come. Feel really let down!
